The night passed quickly, Margeret was up getting ready for the events this new day would bring. "Be careful Margeret, this task won't be that easy and I won't be there by your side," Leo says while Margeret was fixing her hair.
"I will be careful. Don't worry about me Leo," she says while smiling towards Leo. She stands up from her chair and straightens her gown. "We still don't know what plans Braith has for you, Leo."
"Those plans won't affect me, Margeret. He will focus a lot on you not me."
Margeret nods her head in approval, "Yes, he will try his best to make my life miserable."
"And we will not let that happen, you are going to meet the queen today, I hope everything goes well," Leo says while walking besides Margeret.

"Everything will go well."
Margeret and Leo turn their attention to the voice.
"Christopher! Glad to see you, Advisor," Leo says beaming with joy. Margeret chuckles at Leo's reaction. She sensed the bond that Leo had developed with Christopher, like a father with his son.
Christopher smiled and bowed before them. "Braith has asked me to fetch you, General."

"Don't call me a General before Braith, Advisor. He won't like that," Leo says raising his eyebrow.
Christopher laughs, "I do not care about Braith's liking. You will always be the General of Haiti for me. But yes I should think twice before calling you a General before him. Though he knows that I am against him, he should not suspect that we," he says while making an eye contact with Margeret, "are together."

"Yes you are right, Advisor. From now onwards we need to take each and every step wisely," Margeret says.

Christopher signals them to stop talking by keeping a finger on his lips. Margeret immediately stops saying. They hear footsteps, the sound increasing as the distance decreased.

They all turn their heads to see a guard approaching them. "The King has asked me to take this slave to the Queen."
Leo clenches his teeth at the mention of 'slave'. Christopher looks at Leo and keeps his hand on his shoulder, "You are coming with me, Leo. I will show you your right place."
Leo leaves with Christopher. They both look back at Margeret and smile warmly. The tension that she had vanished seeing their smiles.
She follows the guard to meet the Queen.

"Braith, why did you kept Margeret as Queen Caroline's maid? You should have made her my slave. I would have treated her better," Mark says while drinking his glass of wine.

Braith smiles and takes another sip of his wine, "That's why I am the King and you are a mere General, Mark," Braith says while looking at Mark.
He stops midway and looks back at Braith and laughs, "You are again planning something, aren't you?"

Braith changes his smile to a smirk, "Of course, you sensed it late this time Mark."
"My apologizes, King," Mark says, his laughter dying, "So, what is the reason behind it, Braith?"

Braith takes a couple of steps and stands before his giant mirror. He looks at his reflection and smiles, "You will understand why in some time Mark. Wait for it."

"Patience is the only thing I can't do Braith, you know that," he says. Mark keeps his empty glass on the table and stands beside Braith.

Braith tilts his head and looks at Mark, "Caroline is hiding something and I need to know what."

"But you ordered me to look for that Braith."
Braith starts observing the design on the wooden stand besides the mirror, "You can't stay with Caroline every now and then, Mark. Margeret will keep us updating about Caroline."

"And what if she doesn't?"

"You know the consequences then, Mark. You are not a fool."

Mark laughs, "Yes you will then end the lives of her loved ones."
Braith smiles and looks at his ruby studded ring and touches it, "I will know the secrets hidden from me by my beloved Queen, and if she really is hiding something dangerous from me then...."

"Then what Braith?"
"Wait for it Mark. You will see what will happen, in the future."

"Yes, you are a very cunning king Braith...."
Braith had least attention to what Mark was speaking. An evil smile made it's way on his lips while thinking of things only he knew of.

"There's something going on in that cunning head of your husband, Caroline," Victor says in a clearly agitated tone.

Caroline keeps her hand on Victor's shoulder, "Everything will be fine, he has just kept that woman my maid there is no-"

"You think there isn't a problem Caroline!" He shouts at her. Caroline takes a couple of steps back frightened by the sudden outburst of Victor.
He takes a deep breath, "I am sorry Caroline, I am just worried," He says and takes her palm in his own and kisses it.

"I do understand, Victor but trust me I won't let anything happen to us. That maid won't be able to do anything," She says and keeps her hand on Victor's cheek and smiles.

Victor smiles back, "I trust you the most, my Caroline but be careful. She will try to collect some information from you, and you won't let that happen, in any cost or else we both will be dead by your husband's hands."

"I will take care of that and I do have you by my side, so there is nothing to worry about," She smiles and keeps her head on Victor's chest. He strokes her hair, "Yes, I will always be there  with you, no doubt in that Caroline."

They hear someone knocking the door. Victor looks at Caroline and goes to open the door.

The guard and Margeret were standing outside Queen Caroline's room. A man with striking blue eyes opened the door who ushered them inside.

Seeing the guard bowing before the Queen, Margeret reluctantly bows.
"Queen, this is your new maid assingned by His Majesty," The guard says and makes his way towards the hallways.

"Victor, leave me and my new maid alone," Caroline says sternly.
"Yes Your Highness," Victor bows before her and starts to leave. He looks back at Caroline and closes the door behind.
An eerie silence filled the room. Caroline looked at Margeret with keen eyes, "So you are oh I apologize! You were the Queen of Haiti."

Margeret didn't replied. Seeing her quiet Caroline became furious, "Answer your mistress slave!" She shouted on Margeret.
"Yes Your Majesty," Margeret said.
"You are my maid now, do your job and don't poke your nose in my business, and one more thing," She comes near Margeret and whispers,"If you follow the rules you will be safe or else...."

Margeret looks in her eyes and says, "Or else what?"

"You will meet the same fate like your sister," Caroline says and smiles wickedly.

Margeret's chest heaved with emotion at the mention of her sister Bethony. She takes a deep breath and says, "We will see."
Caroline furrows her eyebrows, "You are not allowed to disrespect me slave. Keep this in mind," She says rudely.
"I need to rest, leave me alone now. I will call you when I will need you, till then go away."

Margeret bows before her and turns around to leave. She smiles at her thoughts and walks towards the hallways.

"Margeret!"
Margeret turns around to see Christopher making his way towards her. He holds her hand and takes her behind a pillar. He looks back to see if anyone was watching.
"Braith has asked Leo to take care of the horses in the stables."
"What?" Margeret asks surprised.
"Yes I think he does not want Leo's presence in the palace so this decision. And you will be living with the maids in their chamber."

"So how are we going to talk then?" Margeret asks.

Christopher comes closer to her and whispers, "After midnight we will meet, we will keep changing the location so that no suspicion will be raised."

"But how will Leo enter the palace if his presence is not allowed?" Margeret asks in curiousity.

Christopher smiles, "Do not worry about that, I have some loyal guards who will help Leo in, at the night."

"I am still worried but."

"No need to worry Margeret. Most of the maids hate the King and are too busy with their chores. They won't bother you. And about Leo, that's my responsibility of not letting Braith catch him."

Margeret smiles a little, "I have some news, so where are we going to meet tonight?"

"In my room. Nobody can enter my room without my permission. It will be safe there."

Margeret nods her head, "You should go now, Advisor. We will meet in the night."
Christopher smiles and hurriedly walks in the opposite direction.
Margeret stands there for a moment thinking about today's events. She sees a maid walking with a worried look on her face.
Margeret stops her and says, "I am the new maid of Queen Caroline, I do not know where the maid's chamber is will you show me?"

The maid widens her eyes looking at Margeret, "Yes Queen of Hai- I apologize, maid of Queen Caroline. Follow me I will show you the chambers."

Margeret follows the maid. "All I can do is wait for the midnight now. I need to tell Leo and the royal advisor about my meeting with the Queen. She surely is hiding something."
