She was high up in the clouds of elation

And through the ivory veil that covered her eyes,

The world looked like such a beautiful place,

With a promise of bright and better days to come.

Smiling faces and cheerful voices, lifted her spirits

And the flower of hope, bloomed within her bosom.

As she stood on the dais, surrounded by her loved ones,

She felt emboldened, to dream about a future.

Her dreams, had the hue and brilliance of her wedding band

And were more intricate than the train of her ivory gown.

And as the bright day faded into the soft hues of evening,

She found herself clad in an unfamiliar costume,

Deserted by all those friendly faces and cheerful smiles,

Left alone, to fend off the demons of darkness.

Inspiration _ A wedding that I recently attended. I hope this does not Jinx it, but for some reason, I felt saddened by the whole affair.
