Chapter 7- Michael
I can’t believe she would go with that jerk! What the hell is she thinking?! By saying yes to that snake, she’s signed her own death warrant. I can’t even look at her the same. She’s choosing to trust him more than me. Storming out of the classroom and down the hallway, I made my way down to the boy’s bathroom. Luckily it was unoccupied as I smash the large mirror above the sinks. If she can’t trust me, then she can sort out her own problems. Why should I even bother?
I stared at my bleeding hand and watched it begin to heal itself. Who am I kidding? I can’t just sit back and watch her be taken, watch her walk away with him. I’m her guardian angel…. And I love her. I sunk down the wall and rested my head on my hands, frustrated. I know I’ve been a jerk, but she can’t hate me… can she? The thought of having the girl I’ve known for so long, loved so dearly, hate me? He couldn’t even think about that horrible reality. No, he told himself. I haven’t lost her yet. I can still prevent this.
“Excuse me young man, you should be in class. What are you doing?”
Michael looked up to see Mr Davensport staring at him, waiting for an answer.
“Well?” he said impatiently.
I looked into the man’s eyes, then into his mind, uncovering lost memories and his deepest and darkest secrets. He made a mistake with his wife years ago by cheating on her. He had 3 kids and lost the custody battle. The woman he cheated with found someone richer and better than him. Now he lives in a small and shabby apartment all by himself in Marybrook.
Coming back to reality Michael smiled up at Mr Davensport.
“Yes sir. Thank you for helping me not to give up.”
Michael rose to his feet and walked past the teacher giving him a tender pat on the shoulder. Mr Davensport looked back at Michael confused. Running back to class, Michael smiled.
He knew he’d be able to save the girl and get rid of the Matthew for good.
