Matthew looked like himself but at the same time he was different. His eyes were clear. I didn’t understand at all what was happening. The world was changing too fast, and I was being left behind.

When Michael walked over to Matthew and said those words, i thought for a brief moment that Michael would kill him. Instead Michael raised his leg and kicked Matthew into the portal. In that instant he disappeared with the portal, like he was never truly here.

Michael stood looking out onto the lake and he gestured for me to come to him. I walked up to him and stood by his side. He turned to look at me but I kept my gaze to the horizon.

“April, you have to believe I didn’t intend for all of this to happen. I never meant for you to get hurt. I didn’t mean to hurt you; I just thought I could protect you. I’m so sorry. I hope one day you can accept and forgive me.”

I wish I was mad at him. I wish I could tell him to get lost and move on with my life. But the truth is, I’m not. Sure he lied to me, but I can’t be mad at him. He saved me and most of all...
