Prologue
Bullets flying through the sky, flames of fire colored the air. Blood everywhere, spreading from bodies, dripping from edges of roofs... everywhere. Where am I? Is this what the world is? A big war, everywhere?
A woman runs by looking for something, or someone. She looked my way, turned back and glanced again. Without a word, she quickly grabbed my arm and began to run her fastest. I try to keep up, but I can't, my legs feel numb. She stopped and lifted me onto her back. I wrapped my arms around her neck for more safety as she began running once again.
"Get her! Get the child!" a dark voice shouted. I flinch, that voice.... it's so familiar. Dark... harsh.... I know this voice. This voice.... it's.... my.... father's voice. I looked back and saw men chasing us, obeying my father's orders. The woman turned towards them.
"LIGHTNING BURST!" she shouted and lift her hands, putting her wrists together. Suddenly, a large spark appeared in the middle of her palm and shot towards the men. A few of them fell to their sides and backs. She turns back and continues to run. She looked frighted, but what I don't understand.... is why. We finally arrive to a cracked, empty, dirty house. The woman carries me inside and places me onto the ground. She stood there panting.
"Stay here, d-don't leave" she attempted to say in the middle of each breath. Her tone was soft. I looked up to her tearful eyes. Gently, she kissed my forehead and pulled me into a hug. I stood there confused.
'What is going on? Why is father doing this?' The same thought wondered through my head. After a few seconds, the woman pulled away, I could see the tear stains down her cheeks. She took out a beige cloth from her damaged purse and quickly unfolded it. I realized it was actually a long blanket.
"Lie down, my dear" she spoke in her delicate tone. So, I did as I was told, I laid my back down against the cold floor. As the woman placed the blanket over me, I saw her trembling in fear.
'Why is she so afraid, what is she afraid of?' I began to feel nervous of what would happen next. I looked up at her face and we made eye-contact. She sighed and closed her eyes. The woman then covered my face with the top of the blanket. I slowly lifted the blanket from the bottom to see what would happen next. The woman stood up and backed away from me, still looking at my covered body.
A second after the woman shed another tear, the doors bursted open and a handful of men surrounded her. Two of them pushed her to the wall and held her hands up, above her head. The woman looked down, not making eye-contact with any of them. My father slowly walked towards her, taking small steps as he held his hands behind his back.
"Hello, Rina It's been much to long" he greeted her standing beside her.
"Why? What? What in the world do you want from me" the woman exclaimed.
"Come on, Rina, that's no way to treat your lovely husband"
"You are not my husband, I am NOT your wife. How could I have someone as cruel as you in my beloved family?"
"Oh, Rina. Poor, clueless Rina" he chuckled, pushing her hair gently behind her ear. "Have you forgotten? The wedding? All the memories?"
"I regret everything we've been through," the woman gritted her teeth. "Now, tell me! What the hell do you want?"
"You know EXACTLY what I want and why I'm here," he shouts in fury. "Where the hell is she? Where is my child?"
"Your child? She is mine, you got that?" She exclaimed.
"WHERE IS SHE?"
"Like I'd tell you, you- you" She struggled to find the correct word to use. "You psychopath!"
"Alright, then" the man smirked, slowly pulling out a long, sharp sword from his sword pocket which was strapped onto his back. "How about now?" He asked holding it against her neck, determined to receive a more satisfying reply. The woman looked at him and gulped.
"Never" she said, sticking with her previous reply. My eyes widened, filled with tears, my body shivered with fear.
"Very well, then" the man stood back, turning away. He began walking in his slow way. the woman closed her eyes, and whispered something. Unfortunately, I couldn't hear what she said. But whatever it was, it changed my father's feeling. Father flinched, hearing the woman's words. Quickly, he turned around, stabbing the woman in the chest. The men holding her let go of her hands, causing her to fall to the ground with her eyes widened. Her blood poured out, father looked down at her with a straight face. I can't tell if he's glad that he did that or regretful. I watched her take her final breath. Right then and there... I knew my life had changed forever.
"MOM!!!!!!!!!" I screamed jumping up, pushing off the dusty blanket. But what did I see? Nothing... nothing at all! No walls, no doors, no people, where did everyone go? The building just completely disappeared out of no where, all that is left is pitch black air.
"S-stay safe..." a shaky voice replied to my confusion.
