Chapter 9

Luca was picking up a mess of books on the floor of the library.

The library was a large, spacious room with high ceilings and rows upon rows of bookshelves. The shelves were filled with books of all genres, from fiction to non-fiction to reference materials. In the center of the room was a large reading area with comfortable chairs and tables.

Luca was clad in black, with an oversized black shirt, black sweatpants, and black accessories completing his look.

A girl with bright pink hair and purple streaks braided in the front approached Luca. She was wearing a black tank top, a sweater a couple sizes too big, ripped jeans, and combat boots. She had a stack of books in her arms.

"Hey there, Dae, what's up?" she asked.

"Hello Ieon. Some people left it like this. It's my job," he looked up as he gathered the books in his arms.

"You're one of the new library assistants right?" She confirmed as she picked up a book that Luca missed and added it to his stack.

"Thank you. Yes. I am one of the new assistants. My name is Luca Chantasri," he introduced.

"Hello there Dae. My name is Leila Rafiq. What major are you?" she asked, curious.

"I'm doing journalism," Luca replied.

"That's cool," Leila said. "I'm a 5th year political science major myself."

"Really?" Luca was interested that Leila was doing her 5th year instead of graduating like normally.

"That's cool," Leila said. "I'm a fifth-year political science major myself."

Luca was intrigued. "Five years? Why so long?"

Leila shrugged. "I decided to change majors midway because I took a class related to political science and instantly liked it. But that's okay. I'm loving my studies, and I'm excited to graduate next year."

"That's awesome," Luca said. "I'm sure you'll do great things."

Leila smiled. "Thanks."

They stood there for a moment, awkwardly looking at each other. Luca felt a spark of attraction, but he wasn't sure if it was mutual.

"So," Luca said finally, "what brings you to the library today, Leila?"

"I'm working on a research paper for my political science class," Leila said. "I'm writing about the impact of social media on political activism."

"That sounds interesting," Luca said. "I'm a big fan of social media myself."

"Me too," Leila said. "I think it's a powerful tool for social change."

They continued to chat about their shared interests for a few minutes, and Luca found himself getting more and more drawn to Leila. She was intelligent, passionate, and had a great sense of humor.

"Luca, can you help me find a book on the history of the French Revolution?" a student asked.

"Well," Luca said finally, "I should get back to work. But it was really nice talking to you, I'Leila."

"It was nice talking to you too, Luca," Leila said. "Maybe we can chat again sometime."

"I'd like that," Luca said with a smile.

As Luca walked away, he couldn't stop thinking about Leila. He had a feeling that he had just met someone special.

A knock took Wei out of his reverie.

Wei was in his office.

Wei's office was a reflection of the personality he wanted: calm, collected, and in touch with nature.

The walls were painted a light beige, and the furniture was made of natural wood. A large potted plant sat in the corner of the room, and a bamboo blind filtered the sunlight streaming through the window.

On the desk was a laptop computer, a stack of papers, and a cup of tea. A few framed photos of Wei's family and friends were displayed on the bookshelf behind him.

Wei sat at his desk, looking out the window. He was lost in thought, thinking about the big request Kai received as VIA from his exhibition.

The person who requested it was a well known billionaire who wanted to give his husband a painting as a gift.

The couple had enough power to restart the world if they wanted to.

"Come in," Wei gestured to the chair opposite his desk.

Dewdrop Collective had signed several artists of different mediums. One of them was a multi-talented artist named Vision.

Vision was a master of several instruments despite being 22. He had a double degree in music technology as well as cognitive psychology.

Vision hesitantly took the seat across Wei and he looked a bit nervous.

"There's no need to be nervous, Dae," Wei said. "This is a big family you know?"

Vision smiled slightly. "Thanks, A'Wei," he said.

"So," Wei said, "I wanted to talk to you about your contract."

Vision nodded. "I understand if you do not want to renew it. I'm not as successful as the other artists under the label," he said.

"That's not true, Dae," Wei said. "You're one of our most talented artists. You have a unique sound and a passionate following. I'm very happy with your work."

Vision blushed. "Thank you, A'Wei. That means a lot."

"So," Wei said, "I'm offering you a five-year contract renewal."

Vision's eyes widened in surprise. "Really?" he asked. "But I'm not as successful as the other artists..."

"That's not true," Wei said. "You have risen faster than most talents within this field. The amount of growth we've seen is spectacular and one day, we'll be arranging a world tour."

Vision was speechless. He couldn't believe that Wei was offering him a five-year contract renewal. This was his big break.

"I'll do it," Vision said finally. "I'd love to renew my contract with Dewdrop Collective."

"We're really lucky to have you," Wei said. "You're one of the most talented artists in the industry."

Wei took out a folder from his drawer and opened it, turning it around for Vision to read.

"So, let's go over the contract," Wei said. "It's pretty straightforward, but I want to make sure you understand everything before you sign it."

Vision nodded. "Okay," he said.

Wei started going over the contract, explaining each clause in detail. Vision listened carefully, and they asked questions when they didn't understand something. He also gave his input in places that needed to be changed.

When they got to the end of the contract, Vision and Kai were satisfied. They understood everything, and they were happy with the terms of the contract.

"Alright then," Wei said as he closed the folder and placed it back in the drawer, "I'll ask your manager to bring you back next time to sign the reviewed version of the contract."

Vision smiled. "Great," he said. "Thank you for everything, Ain."

"You're welcome," Wei said. "I'm so excited to be working with you for the next five years."

Vision stood up to leave.

"Thanks again for everything, A'Wei," Kai said.

"You're welcome," Wei said. "I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for you, Vision."

Vision was about to leave the room, his heart pounding in his chest. He couldn't believe that he had gotten a five-year contract renewal from Dewdrop Collective! He was so happy, he could barely contain himself.

As Vision went to open the door, he bumped into Kai who happened to open the door at the same time Vision went to reach the handle.

Kai was tall and imposing, with a cruel smile on his face. Vision's heart sank.

"Hello VIA," Vision greeted, his eyes darting around, not meeting Kai's eyes. Kai looked like a predator to him.

"Hello Vision," Kai gave an evil smile, leaning close to Vision, "you're blocking the doorway."

Vision's heart pounded in his chest. He wanted to run, but he was frozen with fear.

"Oh sorry," Vision rushed past Kai and ran down the hall.

Listening to the encounter, Wei couldn't help but comment.

"You didn't need to scare him like that," he admonished Kai as he continued to read through Vision's old contract, filled with issues courtesy of the now-dismissed manager.

Kai, pouting as he slouched into the seat Vision had occupied moments ago, retorted, "He annoys me."

Kai and Vision had a small conflict over a girl while back and ever since, Kai has been intimidating Vision.

Wei just hopes it doesn't get out of hand.

Setting aside Vision's contract for a moment, Wei shifted his attention to another matter.

"Speaking of projects," Wei began, "I was looking through the email that you forwarded to me. The one with that client."

"Is it fake?" Kai inquired, leaning back in his chair and focusing on Wei.

"No. That's the problem Dae. You have a commission by one of the most powerful men within the dome. One of the most powerful. They are willing to pay a lot just for one of your works," Wei explained as he rubbed his temple.

Kai's eyes widened in surprise as he absorbed Wei's words. The weight of the situation became clear to him, and he leaned forward, his expression growing more serious.

"He commissioned, Taya?" Kai asked, his voice hushed, "that's impossible. They left the public eye a long time ago, handing their company to their siblings."

"That's what I'm saying. They liked it so much that they want to commission one from you. Something brand new and original," Wei stressed at the situation.

Kai frowned. "I don't understand," he said. "Why would they want to commission me? I'm not the most famous artist around."

"That's true," Wei said. "But you're one of the most talented. And they have a reputation for being very discerning. They only commission the best of the best."

Kai nodded slowly. "So, what do you want me to do?" he asked.

"I want you to take it," Wei said. "This is a huge opportunity for you. It could make your career."

Kai hesitated. He was excited about the commission, but he was also nervous. He didn't want to disappoint them.

"I'll take it," Kai said finally. "But if it's not good enough, I don't want them to pay me."

Wei smiled. "I'm sure it will be perfect," he said. "You're the best artist I know."

"You sure?" Kai looked a bit worried.

"Yes, I'm sure," Wei said. "They asked for you to visit their home when you have the chance for some inspiration."

Kai's eyes widened in surprise. "They want me to visit their home?" he asked. "But that's..."

"It's a great honor," Wei said. "They don't let many people inside their home."

Kai nodded. "I understand," he said. "I'll be sure to take it seriously."

"I know you will, Dae. I know you will," Wei comforted Kai.

Kai slowly got up, probably still trying to understand all the information given to him.

"I'm going to be in my studio, Taya. Call me if you need anything," Kai said softly as he walked out the door.

Wei watched him go, a smile on his face. He knew that Kai was the perfect artist for the commission. Kai was talented, dedicated, and passionate about his work. Wei was confident that Kai would create something truly special.

Putting that aside, Wei decided to think about the important matter.

Luca.

Befriending Luca has helped to mend Wei's broken heart. His heart no longer feels as heavy as it used to. He doesn't choke up when mentioning Luca or experience near-panic attacks at the sight of him.

In fact, he finds himself smiling and laughing more often when he's with Luca. Luca is a good listener, and he always knows how to make Wei feel better. He also helps Wei to see the positive side of things, even when things are tough.

They started slow. Playing video games at night, all the way until it was time for Luca to go to work.

Wei would also call Luca from time to time, making sure the other was doing fine as well as trying to make some conversation with the older.

Looking at the time, Wei flipped his phone and went to text Luca.

Wei: Remember to have lunch.

Wei: I know you dont eat breakfast.

Wei: And you didn't eat last night.

As Wei waited for Luca's response, he couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected friendship that had blossomed between them.

It didn't take long for Luca to respond, and Wei's phone buzzed with a message from his friend.

Luca: Thanks for the reminder, Wei.

Luca: Don't worry

Luca: I'Leila will be taking me out to lunch again

Wei: ( ' ▽ ' )b

Luca: lol

Wei couldn't help but smile as he put his phone down and spun around in his chair. Another ding then came that had Wei go back to his phone.

Luca: You free later tonight?

Wei: Yeah. I end work at 4.

Luca: Meet me at Erthka Park at 4:30

Luca: Wear smth casual

Wei: Okayy

What's going to be in Erthka Park?

Wei couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. He's going to meet up with Luca after work today.

He kept spinning his chair until he abruptly stopped.

What's Erthka Park? Where is it even?

He decided to search it up on Veri.

His jaw dropped as he looked at the park itself.

It was a sight to behold. The park was nestled in a valley, surrounded by lush green mountains. In the center of the park was a massive lake, with crystal-clear water that sparkled in the sunlight.

The park was also home to a variety of sports facilities, including a motor race track, a baseball stadium, a soccer field, and a tennis court. But it wasn't just a sports park. It was also a place of natural beauty.

The park had several scenic spots, including a waterfall, a forest trail, and a viewpoint that offered breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and lake.

Wei was immediately drawn to the park's beauty. He could imagine himself spending hours there, exploring the different trails and enjoying the scenery. He could also imagine himself watching a motor race or playing a game of baseball with friends.

Wei was brought out of his search when Noah knocked on his door.

"Taya." Wei breathed as Noah came and sat down across Wei.

Noah was pretty as ever, with his dark hair and piercing blue eyes. His hair was soft and wavy, and it fell around his face in a flattering way. His eyes were a deep blue, and they sparkled when he smiled. He had a perfect nose and a chiseled jawline. His lips were full and kissable.

Noah's skin was fair and smooth. He had a natural glow that made him look even more radiant. He was tall and slender, with a muscular build. He carried himself with confidence and grace.

Noah was the kind of person who turned heads wherever he went. He was simply stunning.

But Noah's beauty wasn't just skin deep. He was also a kind and intelligent person. He was always willing to help others, and he always had a positive attitude.

"Hello dae. I hope I'm not bothering anything," Noah greeted as he started to unpack something from his bag.

Wei couldn't help but notice that Noah was wearing an oversized white shirt, an equally oversized sweater vest, khaki chinos, and a pendant necklace to fit the look.

Wei couldn't help but stare at Noah. He looked so cute in his oversized clothes. Noah noticed Wei's gaze and smiled.

"Do you like it?" he asked.

Wei nodded. "It looks great on you," he said.

Noah smiled even wider. "Thanks," he said.

"Why are you here? Shouldn't you be with your boyfriend?" Wei couldn't help but ask.

"He's in a meeting right now. He told me you're free until 1 so I might as well bring lunch to you. I left meira some food tho," Noah stated as he took out containers of food and took it to the bar table Wei had in the side.

Wei smiled as Noah put the food on the bar table. "You're too good to me," he said, as he walked towards the table.

"I like taking care of you," Noah said, as he was opening the containers. "It makes me happy."

Noah was unpacking so many different foods. All warm as if they were recently cooked - or warmed.

One container had a rice, while another had curry tofu. There was also stir-fry beef, roasted mushrooms and steamed vegetables.

"Wow, this looks amazing," Wei said. "Thank you so much for bringing me lunch."

"You're welcome," Noah said. "I'm glad you like it."

Wei started to help himself to the food. He took a spoonful of curry tofu and put it in his mouth. His eyes widened in surprise.

"This is delicious," he said. "You're a really good cook."

"Thanks," Noah said. "I'm glad you think so."

Wei continued to eat, and Noah watched him with a smile on his face. He loved seeing Wei enjoy his food.

"This stir-fry beef is amazing," Wei said. "The flavor is so complex."

"I'm glad you like it," Noah said. "I used a special recipe that my grandmother taught me."

"It's delicious," Wei said. "I'm going to have to ask you for the recipe sometime."

"Of course," Noah said. "I'm always happy to share my recipes with you."

Wei was so focused on eating that he didn't notice Noah's smile change into a cold, blank expression. Noah stared at him intently, his eyes narrowed.

"Who's Luca?" Noah asked in a chilling voice that made Wei choke.

It was as if someone had dumped a bucket of ice-cold water on them, and the atmosphere instantly turned cold. Noah didn't even bother to hand Wei any water as he coughed and sputtered. Noah looked extremely pissed.

Once Wei managed to get his choking somewhat under control, he managed to say, "he's a friend."

"A friend?" Noah repeated, his voice dripping with skepticism. "Just a friend?"

Wei nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that Noah didn't believe him, but he didn't know what else to say.

"You sure about that?" Noah asked, leaning in close. His eyes were dark and intense, and Wei felt like he was being suffocated.

Wei swallowed hard. "Yes," he said. "I'm sure."

"Then why did Miles tell me he was your ex? Where was I supposed to know this information?" Noah asked, looking as if he was going to commit murder.

Wei froze. He hadn't expected Noah to know that Miles had told him about Luca. He didn't know what to say.

"I don't know what you're talking about," he said finally.

"Don't lie to me, Wei," Noah said. "Miles told me that Luca was your ex-boyfriend. He said that you two were together. You even spoke to him that night at the exhibition. Don't think it escaped my notice."

Wei's heart sank. He knew that he couldn't lie to Noah anymore.

"Yes," he said. "Luca was my ex-boyfriend."

Noah stared at him for a long moment. His eyes were filled with anger and disappointment.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked.

Wei looked down at his plate, unable to meet Noah's eyes.

"I didn't think it was important," he mumbled.

Noah scoffed. "Not important?" he repeated. "You tried to kill yourself because of him, and you don't think it's important?"

Wei's heart sank. He knew that he had hurt Noah, and he didn't know how to make it right.

"It wasn't Luca's fault though," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "It was my fault too."

But then,Noah erupted like a volcano, his voice tearing through the air like thunder. "I was the one who found you in your room, teetering on the precipice of death! It was me, Wei! I found you, nearly lifeless, and I rushed you to the hospital! You think mentioning Luca wasn't important?" His words were a searing torrent of anguish.

"I still love him! What can I do?" Wei's desperate cry echoed through the tumultuous exchange, a plea in the midst of a storm of regret and heartbreak.

Noah's eyes bore into Wei's, his gaze like a wildfire consuming everything in its path. Tears mixed with anger, pain intertwined with love, creating a turbulent sea of emotions that threatened to drown them both.

"You still love him," Noah repeated, his voice quieter but no less intense. "Is he still redeemable after everything you went through? Do you not have one ounce of self respect and move on. This relationship was a mess from the start."

Wei's shoulders slumped, the weight of his guilt and the magnitude of the situation pressing down on him.

"I didn't know you met Luca. T'Miles sent me a picture of you guys at dinner and I thought that was it," Wei said, his voice trembling. "I never meant for any of this to happen."

Noah's anger seemed to subside, replaced by a deep sadness that mirrored Wei's own. He reached out and gently touched Wei's cheek, his fingertips tracing a path along the tears that had begun to flow.

"I know you didn't," Noah said softly, his voice a balm over the raw wounds of their emotions. "But you can't keep doing this to yourself. What about you? You're just chasing after something that willingly left you."

Wei's shoulders slumped even further, the weight of Noah's words sinking into his soul. He knew he was trapped in a relentless cycle, pursuing a love that had slipped away like sand through his fingers.

"I can't help it," Wei whispered, his voice carrying the resignation of someone who had been ensnared by their own heart's desires. "It's what the heart wants."

Noah's gaze bore into Wei's, searching for answers in the depths of his eyes. "What about Luca? Does he want it too?"

Wei hesitated for a moment, his mind racing with memories of Luca's conflicted feelings and the conversations they'd shared. "All I know is that he's affected, just like me," he finally replied, his voice tinged with uncertainty.

Noah's skepticism hung in the air like a storm cloud. "Is he really? Or is that just what you wish to believe?"

"No! He said that! He said.." Wei trailed off as he tried remembering what Luca said.

"Exactly, even you don't remember. Dae, stop living in the past. This is affecting the present," Noah interrupted, his voice cutting through the charged atmosphere. He took a step closer to Wei, his eyes softening with concern.

Wei's gaze dropped to the floor for a moment, his internal turmoil laid bare. He knew Noah was right. Dwelling on the past had consumed him, and it was time to confront the reality of the present.

Just then, Miles, who had been standing in the doorway, cleared his throat, breaking the tension that had gripped the room.

Both Wei and Noah turned their attention to him, their faces reflecting a complicated blend of emotions.

"I didn't mean to interrupt," Miles said softly, his eyes darting between the two men. "But I think it's time we all had a serious conversation."

They decided to move the conversation to a quaint little coffee shop.

The change of setting seemed to be a small respite from the emotional storm that had enveloped them, offering a neutral ground where they could lay bare their feelings and seek resolution amidst the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee.

Before they could delve back into the conversation, Wei discreetly sent Luca a text message.

Noah, ever vigilant, noticed Wei's screen lighting up and narrowed his eyes. "Are you for real now? Texting Luca?" he asked.

Wei looked away, his face tinged with shame. "I asked to be friends with him," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper.

Several emotions flew across Noah's face - frustration, sadness, and a hint of resignation.

He took a deep breath before speaking. "I don't think you're understanding the situation, D'Wei," Noah began, his voice steady. "This isn't just about being friends right now. You went through a very emotional time in college and you are still not mentally stable."

Wei's frustration surged, and he retorted defensively, "How do you know whether I'm mentally stable or not?"

Noah's response was like a blade, cutting through the tension. "When you decided to be friends with Luca again, I saw it," he said sharply. "You still hallucinate that Luca is right next to you."

The accusation hung heavily in the air, and Wei's shoulders slumped as he realized the truth in Noah's words. His connection with Luca had become a haunting presence, blurring the lines between reality and memory.

Before Wei could respond, Miles interjected, seeking to mediate the escalating tension. "Let's not attack each other," he urged, his voice calm and measured.

But Wei's frustration boiled over. He turned his attention to Miles, discarding the formalities in his agitation. "Do you have anything to say to this, Miles?"

Noah, concerned for Wei's emotional state, interjected quickly, "Don't attack him!"

Miles, maintaining his composure, responded with a measured tone. "I have nothing to say. Being in any relationship is a two-way street. You and Luca broke up, with you claiming that Luca left without you. You also initiated the friendship this time, so you say. Luca agreed to that. But let's not forget, who initiated the relationship last time?"

Wei's voice trembled as he admitted, "Luca did."

Miles nodded, his expression unchanged. "So, it was Luca, huh? And yet, you were the one who got dumped. What does that say about you, Wei?"

Wei's heart pounded in his chest. He felt like he was being cornered. He didn't know how to respond.

"Let's be honest, Wei," Miles continued. "You're obsessed with Luca. You can't let him go."

Miles's words struck a chord with Wei, forcing him to confront the reality of his situation. He had been so caught up in his own feelings and desires that he had failed to consider the impact of his actions on others.

"I know I am, what else can I do?" Wei cried, the desperation in his voice clear. He felt trapped in a cycle he couldn't break, and it was suffocating him.

Miles took a deep breath, his eyes reflecting a mixture of compassion and frustration. "We are your friends, Wei, not your therapists. Our advice can only go so far. Remember that day on the track when we first met Luca? He was glowing, as if he had moved on from your relationship. But he hasn't. You can clearly tell."

Wei nodded, his heart heavy with guilt and regret. The realization that he had been unable to let go and had unwittingly hurt those around him weighed on him like an anchor.

Noah, who had been listening silently, finally spoke up. "Wei, I care about you, and I want to see you heal and find happiness. But you have to take responsibility for your own well-being. You have to want to move forward for you to get better."

As the words hung in the air, they all knew that the road ahead would be challenging. But in that moment, there was a glimmer of hope that Wei could find the strength to confront his past, heal his wounds, and finally find a path toward a brighter future for himself and those who cared about him.

Luca stood waiting for Wei at Erthka Park, dressed in casual attire and a sleek bike jacket. He leaned against his motorcycle, his gaze fixed on the path ahead. The cool breeze ruffled his hair as he checked his watch, his anticipation mingling with a hint of uncertainty.

Minutes felt like hours as Luca waited, his thoughts drifting back to the past, like how he used to wait for Wei to show up for dates. He wondered if this meeting would be a turning point, a chance to find closure or perhaps something more.

As the sound of footsteps drew nearer, Luca's breath caught in his throat. He turned to see Wei approaching, his eyes red and puffy.

Luca's heart ached. He wanted to reach out and comfort Wei, but he hesitated. He wasn't sure if Wei wanted that from him anymore.

"Wei," he said softly.

Wei stopped in front of him, their eyes meeting. Luca's heart skipped a beat. Wei's eyes were still as beautiful as he remembered, but they were also haunted by sadness.

"If you need, we can take a rain check," Luca said softly, but Wei shook his head.

Wei shook his head. "You asked me to come here with you," he said. "Let me at least honor your request."

"Have you been here before?" Luca asked.

Wei shook his head.

Luca chuckled, "I thought so. Erthka park is a hidden wonder. Even though it is online, not many people know about it. Lemme show you around."

Luca led Wei through Erthka Park, highlighting its various attractions. They strolled past the shimmering ice rink, where skaters glided gracefully on the virtual ice. The surrounding trees sparkled with digital snow, creating a picturesque winter scene.

"This is the ice rink," Luca explained, a nostalgic smile on his face. "I used to come here a lot during college. It's a nice place to clear your mind."

Wei gazed at the ice rink, admiring its beauty. "It's beautiful," he whispered, his voice filled with emotion.

They continued their journey, arriving at the edge of a large virtual lake. Its crystal-clear waters stretched out before them, reflecting the vibrant colors of the surrounding trees and sky.

"And this is the big lake," Luca said, a sense of tranquility in his tone. "It's a nice place to clear your mind."

Luca stood there on the desolate dock, his gaze fixed on the shimmering water below. His thoughts were a whirlwind of emotions, like a suffocating fog that threatened to consume him whole.

Was it truly worth it, this relentless pursuit of life?

His heart felt heavy with despair, and the future seemed like an insurmountable abyss. He felt trapped, lost, and alone.

The siren call of the water tugged at his weary soul. It appeared so inviting, a serene abyss that promised to cradle him in its depths and end his suffering once and for all.

Luca took a step forward, his breath catching in his throat. He knew that what he was contemplating was wrong, but he couldn't help but be drawn to the water's allure.

He took another step forward.

Wei nodded, appreciating the serene beauty of the virtual landscape. As they moved on, they reached a race track where Kofi stood with his sleek motorcycle.

"Luca!" Kofi called, and Luca and Wei went to him.

Luca and Wei went over to Kofi, who stood with his sleek motorcycle on the race track.

"Hey, Kofi," Luca said. "This is Wei. Wei, this is Kofi."

"Hey!" Kofi greeted Wei with a smile. "It's great to meet you."

"It's great to meet you too," Wei said.

"You wanna ride?" Kofi asked as he looked at the track that was occupied by other riders.

"I don't know how to drive a bike," Wei stated, a bit cautious of Kofi. Who was Kofi to Luca?

Luca looked at Wei, his heart pounding. He was trying to introduce his favorite thing to Wei. He could see the hesitation in Wei's eyes, but he also knew that Wei was up for a challenge.

"Don't worry, Wei," Luca said. "Kofi is a great teacher. I'll even teach you myself if you need it."

Wei nodded slowly. "Okay," he said. "I'll try."

Luca smiled. "That's the spirit," he said.

Kofi clapped his hands together. "Great!" he said. "Let's go get you a bike."

Kofi led Wei over to a group of motorcycles. He picked out a small, black bike and helped Wei onto it.

"Here you go," he said. "This is a good bike for beginners."

Wei looked at the bike nervously. "I don't know," he said. "This looks kind of complicated."

Kofi laughed. "It's not as hard as it looks," he said. "I'll show you the basics."

Kofi spent the next hour teaching Wei how to ride the motorcycle. Wei was a quick learner, and he soon got the hang of it.

"You're a natural," Kofi said with a smile.

"Thanks," Wei said. "But I'm not sure I'm ready to race you yet."

Kofi laughed. "You don't have to race me," he said. "We can just ride for fun."

Wei smiled. "I'd like that," he said.

Kofi led Wei over to the side of the track, where there was a clear area to practice. He showed Wei how to start the bike, how to shift gears, and how to brake. Wei listened carefully and followed Kofi's instructions.

Once Wei felt comfortable riding the bike, Kofi took him for a spin around the track. Wei held on tight as Kofi weaved through the other riders, his bike humming smoothly.

After a few laps, Kofi pulled over to the side of the track. "How are you doing?" he asked Wei.

Wei smiled. "I'm great!" he said. "This is so much fun!"

"I told you you'd be a natural," Kofi said. "Now, do you want to try it yourself?"

Wei took a deep breath. "Yeah," he said. "I think so."

Kofi helped Wei back onto the bike and gave him a thumbs up. Wei took a deep breath and started to pedal.

At first, Wei was a little wobbly, but he quickly regained his balance. He started to pick up speed, and soon he was cruising around the track on his own.

Wei felt the wind in his hair and the sun on his face, and he couldn't help but smile. He was free.

He rode around the track for several laps, feeling more and more confident at each turn. He was starting to have a real good time.

Finally, Wei pulled over to the side of the track. He was exhausted, but he was also exhilarated.

"That was amazing!" he said to Kofi.

Kofi smiled. "I told you you'd love it," he said. "You're a great rider, Wei."

"Thanks man," he said as he went to fist bump Kofi.

Wei turned his attention to Luca who was nowhere near them.

Noticing that Wei was looking for Luca, Kofi spoke up, "he's actually on the track. You see that red and black blurr?" He pointed at a specific location.

"Yeah," Wei locked eyes with a red and black burr, one that seems to be going faster than everyone else.

"That's Luca," Kofi stated.

"What?" Wei asked shocked, "Luca can drive that fast?"

"He can drive crazy fast." Kofi laughed. "You're Miles's friend right? I think I saw you on a post before."

Wei nodded. "Yeah, we're close."

"Luca beat Noah in a race," Kofi continued. "And Noah's one of the best of the best. Top tier racing. He used to win so many of the circuits."

Wei was impressed. He knew that Noah was a skilled rider, so the fact that Luca had beaten him was a testament to his own skills.

"He's good," Wei said.

"He's amazing," Kofi corrected. "And he's only getting better."

Wei watched as Luca continued to race around the track, his motorcycle carving through the curves with ease. Wei couldn't help but feel a sense of pride.
