Doctor

"C'mon Gwen! We need to get the signal finished in time!" Gwen and I rushed to connect all the cords to their sockets. This is a machine, made of broken parts of the Torchwood hub, that will transmit a signal across the galaxy. Only the TARDIS will be able to pick it up, though. The signal is to weak for any other technology. We connected the last cord to the power grid before flicking the lever on. For the last step Gwen and I went into the warehouse that was our temporary base. We sat in the chairs next to our desktop. I logged in and set up the wifi so that it would operate on the same frequency as the transmitter. Finally I hooked up the microphone and pressed the record button.
"Doctor!" Gwen and I shouted before I quickly stopped recording. The transmitter sent an electric blue pulse through the air. If we're lucky the doctor will come to our rescue.

Clara's p.o.v

"We have a message coming in doctor!" The doctor ran from the console room to our little tech room.
"What is it?"
"It's from earth. It's transmitting across the universe but the TARDIS is the only thing able to pick it up. It's very weak."
"Earth? It must be for us. Play it." I powered up the machine.
"Doctor!" It shouted. There were two voices. One male and one female.
"Play it on a loop I recognize the voices." The doctor started to pace. He mumbled to himself.
"Aha! I got it! They were with Jack! Ianto and Gwen!" The doctor ran back to the console room.
"Doctor where are we going?"
"Cardiff, present day!" The TARDIS jolted into motion. We were going to earth.

Ianto's p.o.v

Three months. That's how long we've waited. That's how long Rex and Esther have worked with us. Everyone started to lose hope except me. We needed the doctor. Without the doctor we couldn't find Jack. He's our leader. He held Torchwood together. We need him. I'm not giving up on him. Everyday I wake up make coffee for everyone then go to the base to work on the signal. I come back for dinner then I play with Anwen while everyone else works until nine. Then we sleep.
"Hey Ianto?" Gwen walked into the kitchen while I was making coffee.
"Yes?"
"Anwen's babysitter has the flu, can you watch her until Rhys gets home around noon?" I nodded. I liked Anwen. She was like a baby sister to me. Unlike some children, she was quiet. She didn't scream when she wanted something, she just cried silently.
"Thanks Ianto!" Gwen gave me and Anwen a hug before hurrying out the door. The base was only across the street so we could go there and be back in time for Rhys to get home, but there's really nothing to occupy the baby. Everyone had day jobs and worked at the base at night. I only had a paying job on the weekends but no one really minds, seen as how I did most of the cooking and cleaning. Not to mention I cared for Anwen when everyone else was busy. I sighed. Maybe a day off from working on the transmitter was what I needed. I carried Anwen to the rocking chair where I picked up the picture book I found at the library for us to read. I opened to the first page.
"This is Tommy Truck. He likes to play with his truck friends. One day Tommy saw his friend Sarah sailboat. 'Hello Sarah. Would you like to come on an adventure with me?' 'I would love to Tom..." I was cut off by a loud noise outside. It couldn't be, could it? I sprang up from the chair shifting Anwen into one arm. I put on her pink hat, coat, and mittens before shrugging into my own black jacket. I pulled a blanket around Anwen so she wouldn't be cold and held her into my chest. I hurried out the door to see a blue police box across the street. I crossed the street and walked up to the box, still holding the baby. I was about to knock when the door opened and a tall older man with curly gray hair stepped out. He spoke with a thick Scottish accent.
"Ianto! Long time no see!"
"Doctor?"
"Of course it's me! I've just regenerated." That's right! He regenerates. I had all but forgotten about Anwen when she mumbled.
"Anto." The doctor looked at Her then me confused.
"You're a dad now?" I chuckled and shook my head.
"No she's Gwen's. I wish she was mine though." I wonder what it would be like to have a kid? I made a mental note to ask Gwen.
"Come on Clara! We don't have all day!" The doctor yelled over his shoulder pulling me out of my thoughts. A short girl with medium length brown hair rushed out.
"Sorry. Couldn't find my coat. Who's this?" The girl eyed me suspiciously.
"Clara Ianto, Ianto Clara." We shook hands.
"So what do you need us for?" Clara asked. I lead them back into the house.
"Will you hold her?" I asked Clara extending Anwen out in my arms. She nodded taking the baby into her arms. I went to the kitchen to make coffee. I took my phone out of my pocket and dialed Gwen's number. I turned on the kettle and continued to make coffee as I talked. Gwen picked up after one ring.
Hello?
"Um, hey Gwen."
Ianto? Is something wrong?
"No actually something's right."
What do you mean?
"The doctor's here."
What? Really?
"Yeah. Him and a woman named Clara."
I'll be home as soon as I can. I'll call Rhys and Rex. You need to tell Esther to get to our house. This is amazing!
"It's a miracle!" Gwen went quiet for a bit
You might not want to say that.
"Sorry. Bye."
Bye.
I hung up then dialed Esther's number. It rang a few times before she picked up.
Hey Ianto.
"Esther, I need you at Gwen's house immediately."
The doctor's there isn't he?
"Yeah."
I'll be right there.
She hung up. I finished the coffee before walking with it on a tray to the living room. The doctor took a cup and sipped some of the warm coffee.
"The child fell asleep, Clara brought her to bed. So what do you need?" I took a deep breath.
"We need you to bring us to Jack."
"Ok. I'll do it. On one condition."
"Anything."
"You and you alone have to talk to him. He's been hurting and he needs you."
"Deal." I shook his hand. I'm going to see Jack again.
