Chapter Six
"Now as a man is like this or like that,
according as he acts and according as he behaves, so will he be;
a man of good acts will become good, a man of bad acts, bad;
he becomes pure by pure deeds, bad by bad deeds;
And here they say that a person consists of desires,
and as is his desire, so is his will;
and as is his will, so is his deed;
and whatever deed he does, that he will reap."
-Brihadaranyaka Upanishad, 7th Century BC
Chapter Six:
Japan:
Hours have passed and Italy has improved by a small percentage. His eyes were distant, his pigmentation was slightly away from being pale, but what creeped me out was how he was smiling constantly. However, he was able to eat and talk about anything that was on his mind. But that was till now.
He can't stop blabbering about what he thinks.
Literally.
"Have you ever thought that there was someone out there...someone watching us?" He looks back at me and back towards the window distantly. "I mean, it feels like that there is someone out there trying to get us. I can feel it."
I sighed and shut the manga I was reading. I seriously had enough of Italy's talks--they were literally sounding more like America's horror films. (Which were very terrible.)
"Italy-San, I think I left something in the kitchen, I will be right back, okay?" I said ignoring his question.
I walked away and headed towards the kitchen. The floor boards creaked and made disturbing noises.These floors seem to be much older than me but it does not make any sense since Italy-San looked about my age or maybe even younger.
Speaking of which, before I entered in the kitchen, I turned to check if there was any reaction at all from the fragile Italian and...Italy didn't respond to anything, he just sat there...in silence...staring out the window--with a smile on his face...
I sighed and entered in the kitchen to find something to eat. I needed something to get away from all this drama; I needed a break.
I felt a cold breeze pass through my shoulder and I shuddered. Every day just being in this house scares the crap out of me. Hot and cold symptoms, voices whispering through the air, and Italy's screams combined are just....terrifying. If anything, I think whatever is happening in this house, it was effecting Italy-San.
I have to stop this; I don't know how, but I have to try.
"You cannot heal what has been broken, the fates have brought us what has been heard. The sacrifices will bring mankind to it's knees once again and replenish the world with good once more." Spoke a voice.
I gasped and heard the voice's alarmed voice echo in and out of my head. A forced pushed me onto the ground and caused my throat and lungs to burn. I felt as though I was sat upon by a strong spirit and made my body weaker and weaker by the second. Red liquid dripped onto the wooden floors and my vision began to become fuzzy.
"May you rest in peace..."
That was when everything went black and the pain I had was gone. I didn't know if I was dead or not, it wasn't possible for a country to die....but....
Italy:
Why didn't Japan answer any of my questions? Why wasn't anyone paying attention to me? What have I done in this world to be in this much pain? Why does everyone have to suffer just for me? Why just why?!
The smile I had for hours faded and tears welded up in my pained eyes. I had faked everything for the sake of Japan's worriment. I hated for him to be looking at me like that but it seemed he had no one to be with. Germany was still asleep and all three of our countries were under battles with Mother Nature.
I've always questioned of our existence compared to others. A human could live for such a short time, but a country could live only in the faith of the people. It was why I worried of things that shouldn't be worried for a country. I felt as though I was just a puppet, a toying machine to be used for the better of mankind, but why doesn't this ever feel right?
I sniffled and wiped away my tears. Even though I felt this pain, at least I had Japan with me. "Japan?"
I crawled off the couch and looked around. "Japan?"
I called him again and looked around but all there was, was silence. Where did he go? Did he leave me alone?
As I walked downstairs, a black leathered gloved covered my mouth. "Shh...don't afraid." Cooed a familiar voice. It's arms wrapped around my body and picked me off the ground, I didn't know where we were going but then there were two other shadows behind me. "We're going to get out of here, we're getting out safely."
Unknown:
"Sweetheart! It's time to get up!" A feminine voice replied sweetly.
I groaned and rolled around in the sheets. "In a bit Mom!" I hid under a thick pillow and yawned.
She rolled her eyes and removed the pillow from me. "Now is not the time, you have an appointment with Mister Wang, and you cannot miss it!"
"Later!" I whined. "The kids think I'm weird to just hang around with such an old man anyways." I grumbled to myself.
My mother sighed and looked into my eyes. "You are special, never forget that." She touched my cheek and kissed my forehead. "Never forget it, now go." She whispered.
I noticed my little sister Mulan was with us and smiled. It has been so long in years that China has been at war, Mister Wang has been getting weaker and weaker but that wasn't all, I was too.
When I was born, I wasn't like others. I was pale skinned with true blonde locks. The looks of my true identity were much like that resembled a lotis flower. But with such differences, people gave suspicions that I was probably a foreigner...and foreigners were not allowed in the country.
"Well, I should get going then." I whispered to her and smiled.
She nodded and looked back into Mulan's sleeping body and shooed me off."Go on my darling, go on Kamma."
I smiled and took my leave, the streets were covered in ash and moist dirt. The skies were grey and the men were working hard into making the Great Wall. For years, I was hoping that the men would stop fighting but sadly there no end to that ratio. For the past two decades, I have come to surface that no one ever changes old habits, and neither does a single person come to think of it.
I walked through a small route and hid my face beneath the shadows. The blonde locks that were once my original self were reappearing. The dark brown locks to hide my true self were resurfacing.
"Mister Wang! Mister Wang!" I called and ran into his small home. "Im sorry I'm late but-"
"They're back...all of them..." He mumbles to himself.
"Who?" I questioned.
"The Returned..." He whispered and trimmed the leaves off of his precious lemon tree; making it a boxed look.
"The Returned?" I echoed him back but it sort of question.
"Yes." He gulped.
For all that is happening to the young doctor, I strangely began to get suspicious. What was he hiding from me?
"Who are they?"
