Chapter 39: Tempter Tantrums and Old Friends
Black shadows swirled around Calix as he prepared to whisk us to safety. I had a moment of panic when I remembered we were naked and likely to end up somewhere neck deep in snow, but the alternative to naked and cold could be naked and dead if the wrong Fae were in the cave.
Except...
"Calix, wait," I whispered, ears pricking as a familiar voice reached them. "It's Jones."
He scowled at me as if to say he didn't care. The scowl deepened when I swam away from the tendrils of his power and hoisted myself out of the pool. Water ran in rivulets down my pinked skin and puddled beneath my feet as I crouched behind a rock that separated our pool from the next.
Two Fae males undressed to enter the pools, and just as I suspected, Jones was one of them.
Hot breath wash over my neck as Calix joined me, and he fisted my hair, pulling my head back to look him in the eye. Very, very, very angry eyes.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" The words were barely audible to avoid the other's in the cavern hearing them.
"It's Jones," I repeated just as quietly. "He's not going to hurt us."
Calix's pupils dilated until only a sliver of silver ringed it. His chest heaved. "First, you're foolish if you think he's not dangerous. Second, you're even more foolish if you think that's why I'm angry."
"And just why are you so angry?"
"Because you're just a few feet away from two other males. Naked." He bit off each word. "And my cum is dripping out of you."
"Calix, calm down," I cautioned, even as the wildness inside of me stirred at his possessiveness
"I will not calm down. I'm two seconds away from pushing you to the ground and not stopping until it's not just your pussy that's leaking."
My mouth opened as he pushed a finger inside of it, and it stifled my gasp as another finger pushed into my asshole. My Fae heart thundered in my chest, begging him to mark me so thoroughly that no other male could question who I belonged to. But a tiny part of me held onto its human upbringing.
"Let's save that for later," I said with so much regret it was almost painful. "For now, will you be happy if I put my clothes on?"
"I'd be happier if you'd have let me take us out of here," he grumbled, grabbing my dress and his clothes.
We dressed quickly. In the other pool, Jones and his companion chatted and splashed water on each other. Their laughter made me smile, and I was sad that we had to interrupt.
A moan sounded from the other side. I winced. Jones was going to be so mad at me.
"We can still leave," Calix said, slicking back his dark, wet hair and arching a brow.
"No. This is why we came to the Winter Court. To find Jones. Besides, this is far better than going all the way to the palace and risking capture."
There was the unmistakable sound of someone gagging on a cock. Calix snorted.
"At least I feel better knowing you're probably of no interest to them."
In response, I rolled my eyes and walked around the rock and past another sheet of ice. We just needed to ask Jones how to shift between realms, and then we could be on our—
"Ah, oh god!"
The involuntary shout flew out of me as my gaze landed on my friend. Jones' eyes snapped up to me just as he lined his dick up with his lover's asshole. He blanched and released himself, but it continued to jut out in front of him, pearly white beading on the swollen tip.
"Luna, what the hell?" He shouted.
"Jones, I'm sorry. I, ahh!"
I screamed again, this time because Calix picked me up by the waist and spun around so he faced the males while I stared at their fuzzy reflection in the sheet of ice.
"I changed my mind," he explained, slapping my ass hard with his palm. "You can talk to him like this, or we can do what we discussed earlier."
"Fine," I fumed. My damp hair hung in curls around my face. "Jones. We need your help."
"Right now I need Jones more," the other male purred, clearly not caring that they had an audience. Typical unmated Fae.
"You shouldn't be here, Luna," Jones said. His voice was tight with anger. "You were supposed to protect her. Coming here is not protecting her."
"Trust me, I'm with you on this one. I didn't want to bring her here anymore than you wanted me to, but she's your friend. You know how she is."
Jones sighed. "Look, Felius. I'm sorry. I'm going to need a minute."
Felius clicked his tongue against his teeth. "Your friends could join in. The lady would just watch, of course. But I bet it would be delightful to be spit roasted by—"
I shoved off of Calix and launched myself at Felius with a growl. My mate caught me around the waist. His chest rumbled with laughter as he held me until I calmed.
"Want to tell me to calm down again?" He asked.
"Luna..."
Jones stepped closer to me, his eyes wide. At some point, he'd pulled on his pants. Felius remained naked and on his stomach, no doubt fully intending to resume his previous entertainment the moment we left.
"You went to the Coire," Jones said, his eyes tracing every inch of my new body.
"I had to in order to save Calix."
He nodded, his expression sobering. "Why are you here? What can I help you with that you can't do yourself now that you're Fae?"
"Um...Can we talk privately?"
Calix exhaled. A line of black mist whipped out from his body, striking Felius across the head. The Fae slumped unconscious.
"There. He won't remember what happened when he wakes before either of you fuss at me."
"He better not," Jones muttered. "Now tell me."
"I need you to show me how to go back to the human realm, and Calix has to come with me."
"Oh." His shoulders drooped. "I don't think that's possible. The Vow won't let him."
"I've been thinking about that," Calix spoke up. "And there might be a loophole. As true, bonded mates, we are considered one soul. It might be enough to get me through with her."
I bristled with excitement. "That sounds like it might work to me."
We looked at Jones expectantly. He threw up his hands. "I guess there's no harm in trying."
