Chapter 22 Saying goodbye

"What do you mean, I am pregnant?" Sue asked

"Exactly that," I said, "But do not worry, it will be as a human child, it won't need to be soul linked to someone to stop him from going dark fae. I think because he will be human, the others will not know that he is present either."

"I see," but I could still see the doubt in her eyes.

"Sue, as this baby is human, can you please call him Asher? Don't follow the tradition of the drow," I asked her. I did not want my child to be burdened in anyway by his drow ancestory, especially since I knew he would be a full human despite his mother's and my genetics.

"If what you say is true," she promised, "I will call him that."

We spent the rest of that night in each others arms, Sue comforting me with every age spasm I suffered.

Early the next morning she called her other husbands to us. Kell was the first to arrive, followed by Glorifir and then finally Caspian.

Kell greeted Sue worriedly checking her over, "Sue is fine," I gasped out, as I was finding it harder to breath with each hour passing. It was like my lungs were rotting from all my excesses when I was younger.

"Are you sure?" Kell asked me, his eyes not leaving hers.

Thankfully Glorifrir stepped in then, "Of course he is sure, if you are worried about anyone, don't you think it should be Garvan? After all he is lying there looking like death with a heartbeat."

It was then Kell looked at me, his eyes widening, "What happened to you?" he asked, "Not to pull any punches here, but you do look like death with a heartbeat."

Caspian stepped through his own portal then and upon hearing Kell's words he looked at me, not Sue and alarm filled his face, and he rushed over and sat next to me brushing my face and hair with his hand, "Why are you like this, Garvan? This is not supposed to happen till the end of our lives, your end should be a thousand years away."

I shook my head and took his hand, "I am sorry Caspian, I chose to follow the God of Gods like my father did. This is both my reward and punishment."

"What do you mean by that?" Glory asked me, seeing Caspian was too distressed to ask me himself, tears were literally falling out his eyes as he quietly sobbed.

"The God of Gods only allows his people live for 120 years at most and the they die," I explained, "This has always been his decree, but they can join him by being resurrected into the eternal life after they die. It is different to Aine where you get to live the life you want for thousands of years before knowing nothing ever again. In choosing him, we die early, but live forever with him. The lion gets to lie with the lamb."

I could see Glory kind of got it, "But how come you are still alive?"

"I am dying," I said matter of factly, "I do not have much time left. Every hour I age 10 years chronologically. I guess when I die, my body will continue on until it is dust. I have at best, till nightfall, at worst, till midday."

"I can't follow a God who makes you suffer like this," Caspian stated, "Why would you choose him?"

"Because he told me of the future, and what he said came to pass," I stated, "I had been considering him for sometime now, seeing Sue's loyalty and struggle for her beliefs. Sue has continued to age normally here too. She should have stopped ageing sometime ago now. Or hadn't you noticed?"

Caspian was silent and headed out the cave to think. It was best to leave him that way anyway.

"What did Gee tell you?" wondered Kell, finally following the conversation, but still wrapped around Sue like a bodyblanket.

"He said that he was going to help Jezebel find her human form before she and Tannin leave for the human world. Jezebel would leave an egg here, but as she uses her power in the real world, the fae would be destroyed. Also that Sue would recover in 3 days and her drow blood will shine through, and as you can see Sue looks like a full drow now."

The pair inspected her and agreed with me, "I thought it was the cave light that made her look that way, but now you point it out, I can indeed see that she looks like a full drow."

"Kell," I gasped as another wave of pain hit me.

"Yes Garvan?" Kell replied, taking my hand for the first time since arriving.

"Kell, can you please raise my child to know of me and the God of Gods?"

"I promise I will look after her," he said.

"No, not just her," I gasped out, the pain slightly longer settling than before, "For my son too."

"But you don't have a son," Kell said oblivious to the fact Sue was pregnant.

"I do not have yet," I agreed, "But he will make himself known in a few months. I know you have access to a bible, please from it to her daily until the child is borne."

Kell nodded.

Just then Caspian walked back in, and Glory seeing Caspian asked, "Why did you not ask Caspian to look after him?"
