( 𝟎𝟑𝟎 ) keeping lydia safe

ALYSSA KNEW THAT she had to keep Lydia safe.. The fact that her brother wanted to kill her without a second thought, didn't sit right with the young Hale girl. Lydia was her friend, and she didn't deserve to die - even if she had been killing people, there is no way she could have know.
Even if Alyssa wasn't that close to Lydia, she knew that the girl wasn't killing anyone, sure, Lydia could be a bitch at times, or most of the time, but Alyssa didn't think that she would be able to kill anyone.
The second that their chemistry lesson ended, Alyssa couldn't be more grateful; with Isaac and Erica going on about her and her feelings for Scott, she could have died from embarrassment then and there.. She let out a huge sigh as she heard the bell go, indicating their next lesson, and as soon as that did, she rushed out of the room, hoping that she could get away from all of this until she calmed down.
However, the second that she left the classroom, she heard footsteps rush behind her, causing her to roll her eyes, knowing exactly that it was Scott, and she didn't have the patience to talk to him at the moment.
"Alyssa, hold up!" He shouted, rushing up to catch up with her, as he had to figure out how they were going to keep Lydia safe..
Alyssa rolled her eyes and turned around to face Scott, noticing that he looked incredibly panicked about what had happened in chemistry, "We need to figure out a way to stop Derek from killing Lydia." He told her.
Alyssa sighed, "Once Derek has his mind set on something, there's no changing it." She informed Scott, watching as he panicked about the whole situation. Alyssa didn't want anything to do with it, but now, seeing how Scott was acting, she was going to have to talk to her brother, and that was the last thing she wanted to do.
But, she'd do it for Lydia. "We can try and talk to him." She spoke, causing Scott to lighten up, "But, I'm not saying that he'll change his mind - we need a second plan to keep Lydia safe."
Scott nodded gratefully at Alyssa, knowing that if anyone could get through to Derek, it would be her. Even if she had basically ran away from her 'home', surely Derek couldn't push his sister away like that?
"We just have to keep her guarded till the end of the day, while we have time to talk to Derek." He told Alyssa.
Scott had basically pushed aside everything that happened to them in Chemistry at this point.. The only thing that mattered at this point in time, was making sure that Derek didn't touch Lydia; they all knew she was innocent, now, it was just trying to convince Derek.
Alyssa looked behind Scott and noticed that both Stiles and Allison were waiting for Scott to rejoin them. "Let me know what you guys come up with. I'll look out for Lydia." She suggested, and without letting him answer, she walked away.
Scott was left watching her walk away, wondering why he was stuck in this situation, he knew deep down that he felt something for Alyssa Hale, but at the same time, he didn't want to admit it, knowing that he was kind of with Allison. He thought. The two of them had been going through a rocky path in their relationship, and he had a feeling that Allison knew about his true feelings.
He sighed to himself, before eventually turning back to his friends. They needed to come up with a way to save Lydia, and quick.
Alyssa had never been more bored in her life at trailing someone and watching them. At least with Scott, Alyssa had been entertained in some way, with the boy messing up over and over again, but with Lydia, all she did was look at herself. No matter where she was, she would always find a way to find a mirror and fix her appearance.
She knew that this whole situation was going to be a task, but she didn't realise it would be boring. She was counting down the minutes until the bell would ring and she could finally meet up with the others for their plan to keep her safe. Either way, she just wished it wouldn't involve her talking to Derek..
She had received a text from Stiles telling her to inform Lydia that they would be studying in the library after school, and she couldn't help but think of how stupid that was - if she was to turn into that thing, who's to tell that she wouldn't attack someone in the school? They needed somewhere else to go, and Alyssa had a brilliant idea..
"Who're you texting?" Lydia asked Alyssa, as she looked into the mirror, to see Alyssa texting furiously behind her.
Alyssa looked up at Lydia with her mouth open wide like a fish on dry land, not expecting the girl to actually notice her, as she hadn't this whole afternoon.
"Stiles." She answered quickly, putting her phone back into her pocket, "We're studying in the library after school. You're coming." She told the girl.
When she looked past Lydia and saw that Erica and Isaac were stood at the end of the hall listening in, not so secretly. If she could get them to believe they were going to be in the library after school, it would give them a head start.
Lydia rolled her eyes, closing her mirror, "Do I have to?" She asked, knowing that studying is the last thing she wanted to do today.
"Yup." Alyssa answered, taking Lydia's arm, who only protested slightly. "Come on."
This was going to be a difficult task.
——
The others had taken over the task at sticking by Lydia, allowing Alyssa to join up with Scott in attempt to explain what was going on. It wasn't hard to track his scent of sweat and the material from his lacrosse uniform, which ultimately led her out onto the field, where the last person she wanted to see, was standing over Scott, who was on his back on the ground, from obviously fighting.
Alyssa sighed at the sight, not knowing why the boys always had to fight to show their dominance. She instantly began jogging out on the field, catching the last part of their conversation.
"Sometimes the shape you take reflects the person that you are." Derek told Scott, not yet noticing his sister who was approaching them, it was after that sentence, did he hold out his hand for Scott to take, only for Alyssa to step in the way, helping Scott up herself, and standing in front of him with a glare sent in her older brothers direction.
"What? You wanna fight him to near death, again?" She snarled, still not over the other day where he had fought Scott so hard that he nearly died.
Derek rolled his eyes at his sister, knowing that he only did that for a reason, and that was to show Scott that he was the one in charge.
"Lydia's going to kill again, Liss." He said, using her childhood nickname that he hadn't used in years. Before the fire, he would use that name for her, but after.. Everything changed, including him.
"You don't know that." She tried to reason, not wanting to believe that one of the only friend she had, was the Kanima.
"Yeah." Scott agreed, now standing next to Alyssa, "What if she's immune?" He asked. "What if she's got something inside of her that makes her immune to the bite, which is why she didn't get paralysed?"
"No one's immune! I've never seen it or heard of it." Derek argued, knowing that Scott was wrong, and he was right. As always. "It's.. It's never happened."
"What about Jackson, Derek?" Alyssa cut in, knowing damn well that he bit the boy.. And nothing happened.
"He was bit by an alpha, and nothing happened to him, you're telling me that's just coincidence?" She asked.
Derek's face fell at her words, knowing that Jackson was a cold case at the fact that he hadn't shifted, but was bleeding with black blood, which indicated that the bite failed. "That's why you tested him, isn't it?" She challenged, watching as Derek tightened his jaw, knowing that Scott now knew about Jackson.
The only thing was, that Scott had known about Jackson for a while now, it was just now that he decided to speak up - they needed to find out who the Kanima is without killing anyone. "Peter said the bite either kills you or turns you." He spoke his thoughts out loud, "You bit him in hopes that he would die." He finally realised.
Alyssa looked down at the floor in guilt that she had kept the secret from him for so long, but what could she have done? She was apart of Derek's pack at the time, and she couldn't disobey orders from her alpha.
"But nothing happened, right? And you have no idea why, do you?" He asked, finally piecing together Derek's thoughts. Something no one has done before, even his own family.
"No." Derek told him, his jaw still clenched in annoyance.
"Well, I have a theory." Scott carried on, as Derek looked towards his sister with a look that said 'really?', to which she shrugged at - she knew that Scott's theory was worth listening to, after all, it was Scott.
"Lydia's immune, and somehow, she passed it onto Jackson. You know I'm right!" He tried to reason.
"No!" Derek shouted, not even giving Scott's theory a chance. Alyssa sighed at her brother, wondering where it all went wrong for him and how he turned into the man who stood in front of her. Someone that their mother wouldn't be proud of if she was still here. Or their sisters.
"You cannot do this!" Scott yelled back just as loud.
"Look, I can't let her live! You should have known that!" Derek shouted back.
"We were hoping that we could convince you.. But then.." Scott trailed off, "We weren't counting on it."
Alyssa looked towards Scott with a smirk - knowing that their plan was working.. They were distracting Derek and his pack for the others to get out of here, and it was working pretty well.. Maybe moving into Scott's pack was the best choice for her, she knew that now.
"What did you do?" Derek asked, now looking directly at his sister, ashamed that she would go against him like this.
"I'm doing what's right, Derek." She told him, finally looking at him in the eyes, standing up straight to show him that she wasn't scared anymore. "Mom would have been so disappointed in you." She told him, watching as his face completely fell at her words.
Alyssa felt Scott wrap his hand around hers, gripping onto it to prepare to finally leave to go to his house and protect the others, and she held it back, giving Derek one last disappointing look, before following with the boy who had changed her for the best..
With their speed, they made it to school in a matter of seconds, before Scott eventually stopped in the hallway, where they were alone. "We need to talk." He announced, as Alyssa came to a stop in front of him, turning around with her eyes wide.
"Really? Now?" Alyssa asked, as he nodded at her, "Can't this wait until after we save Lydia?" She asked him.
Scott shook his head, "What's going on with us?" He eventually asked, pushing back the fear about asking her - he needed an answer, especially if they could die at any moment with this Kanima on the loose.
Alyssa shook her head in disbelief, not believing that he could possibly want to talk about this now, when they had to get to his house to save Lydia's life.
"You're kidding, right? You wanna talk about this now?" She asked him, looking around at their surroundings in case someone was eavesdropping.
"I know you feel something, too." Scott told her, taking her hand to stop her from going anywhere. When she looked up at his face with shock written on her own, it scared him, making him think that she didn't actually have any feelings for him, but when she sighed, and tightened her grip on the hand that was holding hers, he knew that he was right.
"We can't talk about this now, Scott." Alyssa told him, trying to look anywhere but his eyes, scared that she would do something she might regret. "Besides, what about Allison?" She asked, knowing that she and Scott were still together.
Scott stuttered, "I don't love her." He admitted, shocking himself at the words he had been thinking for a long time, but never coming out to say something.
Alyssa was shocked into silence at his words, knowing what he was about to say next. She couldn't hear him say it. Not now.
"We have to go." She hurriedly spoke, causing Scott to pause with what he was going to tell her.
Alyssa dropped Scott's hand with an apologetic look, before rushing off once again.. All that mattered right now, was saving Lydia, and that's what she was going to do.
Somehow, Derek and his pack had figured out where they were keeping Lydia, although, it probably didn't take a genius to realise they were all at Scott's house.
Scott and Alyssa instantly dropped what they were doing at the school with the torn up lacrosse uniform and Danny, before rushing to the boys house, knowing that they had no chance against the betas - they needed them.
By the time they made it there, it had turned dark, but what mattered, is that they made it.
The second that Alyssa rushed into the house after Scott, she saw Isaac, heading towards Stiles, who laid on the floor in pain. She didn't need to think twice before heading towards them and yanking Isaac away from the boy who had offered up his house for her when she needed it..
When Isaac was sent flying backwards, she shifted instantly, roaring at the boy who threatened to hurt her friend, as Isaac roared back. However, when Isaac went to attack Alyssa, Scott jumped in, tackling the beta to the floor.
All she could do was watch as Scott fought with Isaac with all of the power he had - and the reason was because he had tried to hurt Alyssa. He hadn't liked Isaac for a while now, and this just gave him the excuse to kick his ass.
Alyssa held out her now human hand to help Stiles up, knowing that Scott had Isaac dealt with, giving him a nod, before heading up the stairs to check on Allison to see if she had dealt with Erica.
Preparing for a fight was something she didn't even need to do, as when she reached the top of the stairs, Erica was on the floor, with Allison standing above her with her bow and arrow in hand, a smirk on her face at the fact she had managed to take down a werewolf on her own.
"Nice one." Alyssa told Allison, smiling at the girl proudly, who's smile didn't reach her eyes.
Allison knew what was going on with her boyfriend and Alyssa, and there was nothing she could do. She had lost Scott for good, and it broke her heart.
Maybe they just weren't meant to be.
Alyssa grabbed Erica and practically dragged the girl down the stairs, not caring if it hurt her, before finally reaching Scott, who had taken care of Isaac.
The two exchanged a look, which Allison saw, before they both threw the betas out the front door, knowing that this was going to annoy Derek more than anything..
Not only did Allison notice the look between the two werewolves, but Stiles did, too; only, it didn't surprise him like it did with Allison.
Alyssa and Scott were just meant to be, and everyone knew it.
The second they all stepped out of the house, Derek snarled at his two passed out betas, annoyed at the fact that Scott had managed to take them down again, and this time with the help of his own sister.
"I think I'm finally getting why you keep refusing me, Scott." Derek finally spoke up, "You're not an omega. You're already an alpha of your own pack." He said, causing Alyssa to smile slightly, proud of Scott and how far he had come since being the poor weak boy who had been wrongly turned.
"But you know you can't beat me." He spoke again, causing Alyssa's smile to fall into a frown.
"I can hold you off until the cops get here." Scott told Derek, heading the sirens in the background, coming closer.
This caused Derek's face to fall, knowing that he couldn't be here if they showed up.
That is, until they heard a hiss above them, causing them all to back up and look at where the noise had come from.
When they did, they saw the Kanima on the roof, snarling at them all, while Alyssa grabbed onto Scott's arm instinctively, before the Kanima rushed off.
She looked up at Scott with a panicked look at the fact that Derek had been right, only for Lydia to come rushing out of the house. "Will someone tell me what the hell is going on?" Lydia shouted, wanting to know what had happened tonight.
Alyssa closed her eyes and sighed at the sight of her friend.
"It's Jackson." She heard Scott whisper from besides her.
Now they were in trouble.
