( 𝟎𝟎𝟒 ) the shifting beta
'second chance at first line'
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
ALYSSA HAD TO suffer yet another day of school, just to look out for Scott. She couldn't believe how annoying it was becoming to have to watch over him twenty-four seven, just to ensure that he didn't do anything stupid.
She was sitting on the bleachers, watching the boys as they were herded together, about to play a game of lacrosse.
Alyssa could see Derek from across the field, if she was human, she wouldn't have been able to spot him, but because she had censored abilities that an average person doesn't have; she could see him.
He was watching out for Scott aswell, knowing that lacrosse isn't a good thing for him to be playing at the moment, due to the violence that the sport included.
Anger will make his heart rate speed up, which ultimately triggers the shifting process, which means that Scott has a high chance at transforming on the school field, in front of his whole team and the students who were watching.
That is why Alyssa and Derek were here.
"Let's go! One on one from up top! Jackson... Take a long stick today. Atta boy. That's how you do it!" The coach yelled, as the team were warming up, "Greenberg, take a lap. Let's go. Faster, Greenberg! Let's go!" He shouted, blowing his whistle.
Alyssa really hated that whistle, she wanted to crush it.
"McCall, what are you waiting for? Let's go. Hey, McCall. Hey, McCall!" The coach shouted.
"You sure you still want to be first line, McCall?" Jackson asked Scott with a smirk, after he had failed to get the ball into the goal, he knew that Scott was struggling.
This was another person from the school that Alyssa didn't like, and that was Jackson; the only person from this school that she even remotely liked, was Danny.
He seemed to be the only one who wasn't completely in love with himself, and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy.
"My grandmother can move faster than that. And she's dead. You think you can move faster than the lifeless corpse of my dead grandmother?" The coach asked Scott, when he failed to make yet again, another shot.
"Yes, coach." Scott mumbled, keeping his head down, trying to control his anger.
Coach shook his head, "I can't hear you!" He shouted at him.
"Yes, coach." Scott repeated, sounding more irritated than the first time.
This time, when the coach blew the whistle, Scott went running for the goal, only to slam into Jackson, hard. She couldn't say that he didn't deserve it, because he did.
But now, she could see that Scott was shifting, so she had to do something about it.
Alyssa could smell his anger from where she was sitting, which meant that Derek could, too. Suddenly, Scott's eyes started to shift, causing him to beg Stiles for advice and help on what to do.
Alyssa groaned and exchanged a look with Derek from across the field, she knew that she had to follow them to the locker rooms, which is where Stiles had just dragged Scott towards.
As everyone went to check on Jackson, Alyssa hopped up and followed Scott and Stiles to the boys locker room.
As she approached the locker room, she heard a low growl, meaning that Scott had fully shifted already.
She rushed in, only to find Stiles cowering against the wall, and Scott stalking him like prey.
Alyssa thought quickly and grabbed the fire extinguisher.
"Scott!" She shouted, gaining the teen wolf's attention.
When he had his attention on Alyssa and began to stalk towards her, she pulled the handle off of the extinguisher with little effort, and sprayed Scott with it.
She was hoping that he would shift back afterwards, which he did.
Alyssa and Stiles let out a sigh of relief at Scott's, now-human face.
She couldn't understand why he would refuse her and Derek's help, when he could have literally killed his best friend in the locker rooms.
"Alyssa?" Scott asked, once he fully transformed back into his human form, he turned around to see Stiles, who was still breathing heavily, leaning on the wall, "Stiles? What happened?"
"You tried to kill me. So Alyssa sprayed you with the extinguisher." Stiles explained, out of breath, "Thanks for that, by the way." He told Alyssa, earning a nod from the Hale, "It's like I told you before. It's the anger. It's your pulse rising. It's a trigger." He told Scott.
Alyssa rolled her eyes, at least Stiles knows a little bit about werewolves, the actual werewolf was clueless with everything that was going on around him.
"But that's lacrosse. It's a pretty violent game, if you hadn't noticed." Scott reasoned with him.
Alyssa scoffed, causing Scott and Stiles to look at her, "Well, it's gonna be a lot more violent if you end up killing someone on the field." She told Scott.
Stiles nodded in agreement, "You can't play Saturday. You're gonna have to get out of the game."
Scott shook his head in sadness, "I'm first line." He told the two other teenagers in the room.
Alyssa gave him a sympathetic look as Stiles spoke, "Not anymore."

Alyssa was at her locker, putting some books in her locker as Allison waltzed up to her with a nervous smile on her face.
"Hey." She said as she stopped next to Alyssa.
"What's up." Alyssa said, after she shut her locker door and turned to face Allison.
Alyssa hated to admit it, but it was nice to have friends; for her whole life, she had stuck with only her family. She still had Derek, but she gathered that she also had Lydia and Allison now.
Also, Stiles and Scott were unbelievably nice to her, that, she didn't understand.
"I could use some advice." Allison told Alyssa with a small smile. She opened up her locker and pulled out her jacket, Alyssa guessed that Derek must have put it in there.
He really was sneaky, how did she not notice that he came by the school?
"Okay." Alyssa said, slowly, "With what?"
"Okay, well..." Allison said, turning embarrassed, "Me and Scott are hanging out together this week, but I don't know what we should do." She admitted.
Alyssa didn't really do relationships, that and that fact that any guy that approached Alyssa, Derek would have chased away. She found it kind of annoying.
"Are you hanging out, or hanging out?" Alyssa asked her, emphasising on the last bit.
Allison furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, "What do you mean?" She asked.
Alyssa hummed, trying to think of another way to word it, Allison really was clueless. "Like, are you guys actually hanging out or is it like, a date?" She reworded it.
Allison began to turn red in embarrassment, "I... I don't know, what do I do if it's a date?" She stuttered.
Alyssa smiled at her innocence, causing Allison to groan in annoyance, "Okay, you don't have to say anything, it's fine."
Alyssa tilted her head to the side, "Huh?" She asked the girl.
Allison shook her head and looked at the floor, "He probably doesn't even like me, so it'll just be hanging out." She said, sadly.
Alyssa chuckled, "Allison, he really likes you, I can tell." She told her truthfully.
Alyssa didn't exactly approve of hers and Scott's relationship, due to her and her family being hunters; but, if she kept Scott happy, then maybe his anger wouldn't be such a problem.
"Really?" She asked, her face lighting up.
Alyssa nodded her head, "Okay." Allison sighed in relief.
This is when they were interrupted by Lydia and a bunch of guys from the lacrosse team, who had interrupted their conversation.
"There you guys are." Lydia said as she stopped in front of the two girls, "Allison, Alyssa, this is Matt, Tyler and Mikey." She introduced.
Alyssa internally groaned but kept a smile on her face; she looked behind the group to see Scott, looking at Lydia with an angry and sad expression as Allison began talking to the boys.
Alyssa could also see that Lydia was giving a pointed look in Scott's direction.
This must be Lydia getting back at Scott not wanting to play the game.
Alyssa, who was feeling nice, decided to make an excuse for her and Allison, and pulled her away somewhere else that was away from Lydia and her bunch of lacrosse douchebags.
Scott gave her a thankful look as she walked away with Allison.
Scott definitely owed her one, now.

After school had finished, Alyssa was sitting on a coach in her burned down home, while Derek was pacing in front of her. They were both trying to think of ways to catch the alpha, and what to do if they do come in contact with it.
"Even if we do find the alpha, what are we supposed to do, then?" She asked Derek, who kept pacing.
He had a determined look on his face as he spoke, "We're going to kill it." He told her.
Alyssa opened her mouth to speak again, when she was suddenly interrupted by Scott's voice from outside of their house, "Derek!" He shouted.
When neither of the Hale siblings replied, he shouted again, louder than before. "Derek!"
Alyssa rolled her eyes; this kid was seriously an idiot, "Stay away from her! She doesn't know anything!" He shouted, walking closer to the house.
Alyssa couldn't help but agree with his statement; Allison really didn't know anything. From the time that she had been hanging out with her, she's figured out that the girl's just as clueless as you can get.
This meant that she wasn't a hunter, or at least wasn't a hunter yet. She didn't know when hunters got initiated.
She did know that if Allison did become a hunter, she wouldn't hesitate to protect herself and her brother from her, friend or not.
This is when Derek made himself known, "Yeah? What if she does? You think your little buddy, Stiles, can google 'werewolf' and now you have all the answers, is that it?" He asked. "You don't get it, but we're looking out for you. Think about what could happen. You're out on the field. The aggression takes over. And you shift in front of everyone. Your mom, all your friends. And when they see you... Everything falls apart." He spoke, leaving Scott staring at him in shock.
