"Hey Aiden, we need to get up." I murmur, trying to lift Aiden's arm from around me.
I hear Aiden groan behind me and move his arm from around me. "Yeah, you're right, mon amour. We both need to check on the others, but first I need to look at your bandages."
Aiden moves off the couch and grabs the medicine kit. He re-bandages my cut and together we walk out of the room.
The house has been cleaned up completely since last night and my brothers sat like they normally did at the kitchen counter, eating breakfast. Aiden had sent one of the guards to tell my family it was okay to come out of the safe room after everything was taken care of.
"I'm assuming everything went smoothly last night," Lucien asks from where he is sitting next to Alexandre. He still looked a little pale and was slowly eating the eggs placed in front of him.
"Yes, don. One person from the group that attacked is in the basement for questioning." Aiden replies sharply.
"Good." Lucien slumps down in his seat. Not by a lot, but enough for me to notice.
"Lucien, where are Mia and Alessia?" I say while looking around the kitchen for them. It wouldn't be wise to send them back on their own given what just happened.
"We sent them both back to their places of residence with a number of guards each. Why?"
My eyes widen slightly at what I just heard, but I knew yelling at Lucien now wouldn't be wise.
"After something like this?" I try to keep my voice level, but a sinking feeling in my stomach starts to appear.
I pull out my phone and call the number that Mia placed in my phone days ago. Ring, Ring.
"Who are you calling?" Alexandre asks, but Lucien puts a hand on his shoulder and shakes his head.
"Sorry I am unable to answer your call at this time. Please call again later." Mia's voice blasts through the phone.
Aiden stares at the phone in my hand, like he was hoping she would call back. "She's probably still asleep. She always likes to sleep in late." Aiden says, but only I can see the worry in his eyes.
I look back at Lucien. "Call Alessia." I don't have to tell him twice before he pulls out his phone and dials the number.
"Hello," Lucien says into the phone, but the voice that answers makes Lucien's voice tense up in anger.
"Oh hello Lucien," a robotic voice answers. It seems like the person on the other end was using a voice changer. "It seems you don't like it when I take things from you."
"Where the fuck is she!" Lucien all but yells into the phone. He can't be doing this right now. I walk over to Lucien and all but grab the phone from him. Lucien starts to stand up, but Alexandre pulls him back down and fights him on it. Lucien then starts to glare bullets at me, but I ignore his action as I wait for the kidnapper's response.
"Meet at warehouse number 4851 at ten tonight if you want to see your girl again."
"Only one girl?" I ask impassively. "What if I want two?"
"Aren't you greedy. Well I guess that could be expected due to the environment you grew up in."
I scoff. "Never mind. We will see you at 10." I hang up the call, sliding it back on the counter to Lucien. He grabs it, and puts it back into his pocket.
I look out of the corner of my eye at Aiden and see his fists tighten. I look away completely to help my urge to wrap my hands around him and comfort him.
"We need to start preparing. I am going to go get the men and guns ready to use." Aiden steps away from the counter and walks back out into the hallway. Mylan follows out behind him.
Alexandre looks at Lucien taking a few steps back towards the hallway. "You stay put. Your body is still weak from the poison. The rest of us will get everything else ready for tonight."
"I'll go try to get more information from the guy Aiden locked up." Matheo states, also turning away from the countertop.
"I'll go with you Matheo." I follow behind Alexandre and Matheo as we walk towards the hallway out of the kitchen.
"Cam," Lucien says in a faint voice. Alexandre and Matheo had already walked out of the kitchen. "Please, get her back."
————————
I follow Matheo down the steps into the basement. While most people would assume a basement be dark and gloomy, this one retched of cleaning solutions and bright lights. It smelt more like a hospital than anything.
I watched as Matheo walk into one of the rooms and shut the door closed behind him. He had entered one of the interrogation rooms where I assumed the person was.
I took a few steps forward and saw the one sided window in which I could see how everything went down. I sat in a chair in front of the window and a panel that controlled the speaker inside the room.
Inside the room, Matheo was standing in front of a man tied to a chair. The man was covered with blood that stained his scruffy beard and shirt and was sporting a large bruise on his cheek.
"Who was the person that sent you to us." Matheo spoke aggressively. He was showing the man who was the larger fish in the pond.
"What makes you think I would tell you anything?" The man all but laughed. He spits
out the blood in his mouth onto Matheo's shoes.
I watch as Matheo's face tightens up and he lands his fist straight into the man's stomach. The man lets out a loud groan contracting into himself.
"Let's get this straight." Matheo grabs the man by his thin shirt and pulls him close. "You're either going to tell me this information or I'm going to cut off your fingers slowly and delightfully. The choice is yours."
The man's eyes widen, but still no information is spoken out loud.
"Off with a finger it is then." Matheo pulls out a slim knife from in his leg pocket and quickly slashes the thumb off the man's body.
The man screams loudly and I have to turn down the speaker so my eardrums don't burst.
"What do you have to say." Matheo points the knife under the man's chin.
"I don't know! I promise!" The man screams out the words before two new fingers are sliced off clean. I watched an exchange go back and forth a few more times before almost all his fingers have been removed.
At this point, I can see Matheo killing him before the man speaks so I get up from my chair and walk into the room while pulling out one of my knives.
"If you don't mind." I say, once I had gained Matheo's attention.
"Sure." He gestures his knife towards the man while taking a step back so he can lean on the wall.
"You know, you're going to die either way. With us, or by the person who hired you."
The man stares at me hazily while leaning all the way back in his chair.
"So it's up to you, we could quickly put a bullet through your head or they could torture you and get you addicted to so many drugs that you slowly die from overdose. Well which one?" People react better if they are given the choice to do something. It makes them feel powerful, like they are in control.
"I don't know who the person is. They used a voice changer. All I know is that the person wanted revenge for something. That's all I know, please just kill me." The man begs from the chair.
I stash my knife and pull out the gun I rarely use and fire.
It was perfectly aimed towards his forehead and we both watch as the body slumps forward killing itself in the process.
"We should go help out the others." Matheo says after a few seconds, leaning his body halfway into the hallway to find some guards to clean up the mess.
"Yeah, let's go."
