Chapter Six

Now I really wasn't allowed to leave the scrapyard. Denny tried to keep me busy with organizing things, but there's only so much of that I can handle. Fix-it tried to teach me about the command center but there wasn't much I could do there, seeing as I can't read cybertronian. Russell also tried to keep me entertained, but he was gone a lot.

It had been two weeks since that original call from Ebony, and I was bored to tears. It was fun when the bots were in base, mainly because Strongarm and Sideswipe getting into arguments from time to time.  I think the most embarrassing moment was when Bumblebee tried to do an Optimus impression because his team wouldn't listen to him. I yelled at him for it of course, and he didn't try it again. At least, I hope he didn't because when I stopped yelling there was a Decepticon signal. Of course, I wasn't allowed to go with. We've caught a lot of Decepticons thus far, including a minicon parasite that could control whoever he bit. We had a bit of trouble with that, mainly because he was controlling Grimlock. Oh well. At least no one got hurt and the minicon was successfully recaptured. With no help from me, of course, because it's not safe for me to leave the scrapyard. Ugh... I hate this stupid... whatever it's called.

"Astraea, we all know you hate being stuck here, but you have to know that it's for your own protection", Bumblebee says. I blink.

"Was I talking out loud?" I mutter, annoyance creeping through my voice. I wasn't even allowed to go for joy flights and I was dying to fly freely.

"Yeah?" Bee says, though his voice was questioning. I groan.

"What exactly did I say?"

"Just that you hate being stuck here", Bee says. I nod before paying attention to my surroundings. I was currently on the ground, not wanting to potentially run into anything in the scrapyard with my wings. That and Bee had banned me from using them in the scrapyard, which I was still pissed about.

I walk over to where everyone is watching a movie, before rolling my eyes and starting to walk over to my trailer when I heard Sideswipe try to explain something about the movie. I turn to watch him storm off into the scrapyard. Making sure Bumblebee wasn't watching I quickly opened my wings and shot off Sideswipe, careful to avoid anything my metal wings might cause damage to. I caught up to Sideswipe and landed on his shoulder, startling him.

"Astraea?" his voice was filled with surprise. "I thought you weren't supposed to fly in the scrapyard?"

I grin at him. "Yeah, but that doesn't mean I won't do it from time to time. I just... don't do when Bee is watching."

Sideswipe laughs before going silent at a t-junction in the scrapyard, where we see an unfamiliar cybertronian walk past. I blink before pressing the face of my watch to make my swords appear. Sideswipe pulls out his sword, almost knocking me off of his shoulder, but I keep my balance. He goes to attack, almost knocking me off his shoulder again. Seeing as this upcoming scuffle might get dangerous for me, I flew up and landed on one of the shelves used to hold stuff, making sure not to mess with anything in the process. That's when the other bot used some sort of... sonic wave to knock Sideswipe over. Sideswipe's blade flipped up into the air, and the other bot caught it. Sideswipe started to get up, only for the other bot to knock him off his feet, before pointing Sideswipe's very own sword at Sideswipe. And then there were bright lights coming from Bee's chest, and I knew I was in trouble.

"Stop!" Bee yells as he walks up to the bot, who I could now see had a blue visor and was mostly white with bits of blue and red. He seemed a bit surprised before joking, "Is it time for my solo?" My head tilts at his voice. He seemed... like he was cool, just from his voice. I don't know how to explain exactly, but I like his voice.

"Jazz?!" Bee asks, as his headlights turn off, though somehow we were still able to see clearly. I don't understand it. It was dark here, and then Bee showed up with his headlights, and when he turned them off, we were still able to see everything just fine. It doesn't make sense.

"Bee!" the other bot exclaims as his visor retracts, revealing blue optics. "What are you doing in this dump?"

Denny was offended at that, and I laugh when I see him covering Russell's ears. "Watch the language", Denny says. Unfortunately, my laugh had gained the attention of the others, including the new bot, and I immediately looked down, away from Bee's optics.

"Astraea", Bee sighs. "How did you get up there?"

I blink before giving him an innocent smile. "I, uh... climbed?"

Bee sighs. "Astraea, you know the rules."

I sigh, looking down at the ground. "I know... no flying in the scrapyard..."

"Wait, I didn't think the native lifeforms of this planet could fly", Jazz says. I grin before looking at Bee with hopeful eyes. Bee sighs.

"Just this once", he mutters. I grin.

"Thanks, Bee!" I exclaim, before leaping off the shelf I was on, my wings spreading outwards. I fly around a bit before going over to the new bot.

"Mind if I land here?" I ask, pointing to his shoulder. He blinks before shaking his head.

"Nah, I don't mind. I'm just surprised to see that there are some natives on this planet that can fly without the use of their machinery", Jazz says. I smirk at him.

"Yeah, being a techno-organic is pretty nice. When you aren't banned from leaving the scrapyard." I send a pointed look at Bumblebee, who just takes the expression with a frown.

Jazz laughs. "What'd you do to get yourself trapped here? Bee's a chill bot, only taking precautions when absolutely necessary."

I roll my eyes. "Someone thinks it's not safe out there for me, even though I'm pretty well protected."

Bumblebee sighs. "You may be well protected, Astraea, but with MECH teaming up with Starscream to hunt you down, as well as any stray 'cons out there, especially Steeljaw, you need to be here so we can protect you."

I growl at him. "I can protect myself, Bumblebee!"

"No, you can't", Bumblebee says. I glare at him.

"I have been well trained in my flying abilities to dodge any oncoming attacks and that means any servos that come at me! Not to mention my swords have the strength to harm any unfriendly cybertronians that come near me!"

Bumblebee sighs. "Look, I'm only doing what Optimus would want me to do when it comes to protecting his lover."

Fury took over my body. "Optimus isn't here! I will allow him to protect me if he ever comes back, but so far, he's been long gone and it doesn't look like he'll be coming back!"

Jazz had been silent for a while before he cut in, keeping Bumblebee from saying anything else.

"Cool off", he says, both to me and Bumblebee. "So you guys can show me around this junkyard."

Bee laughs slightly. "It's a scrapyard, Jazz. The nicest one on this planet."

I roll my eyes. "Yeah, when you aren't trapped here."

Bumblebee walks over to Jazz, most likely to get me, but Jazz stops him. "Careful. Don't get too close. This one thinks he's dangerous." He points to Sideswipe. I laugh quietly.

Bee laughs again. "His name's Sideswipe and he's with me."

Jazz turns to Sideswipe before helping him up. Sideswipe got defensive then.

"Whatever", he says. "You just took me by surprise is all." Jazz hands him his sword and Sideswipe puts it away. "What do you call that take-down anyway?"

Jazz shrugged, being careful with me on his shoulder. "Don't know. Didn't really plan it. Just kinda... flowed." He sways slightly, cautious to not knock me off. I chuckle softly.

"Jazz, if you want, I can get off your shoulder so you can do more stuff without having to worry about me", I say. Jazz laughs.

"Nah, it's all good", he says. "I kinda like you being there."

I shrug, and Jazz turns to Bee. "Hey, Bee, you know anything about a prison ship called the Alchemor? The big 'bots on Cybertron sent me to check out a distress call."

They start walking towards the main part of the scrapyard as Bee starts talking. "Actually, I know a lot about it. One day, I'm on patrol in Kaon City, the next, I'm stranded on Earth with two teenagers."

"And then we ran into each other again, after not having seen each other for five years", I say with a small smile. "Though it did bring back a lot of memories I've been trying to forget."

Jazz looks at me. "There's a lot about you in a museum on Cybertron actually. When I saw your wings, I instantly recognized you as Astraea Lynn Thompson, the only techno-organic to ever exist, and the one that Optimus wanted to go back to but couldn't due to the having to join the Well of Allsparks."

I smile softly. "I know. Bee told me about that... I still find it kinda weird..."

Bee chuckles. "She wouldn't have known about it if Strongarm hadn't recognized her after some explaining about Astraea being a techno-organic."

Once we got back to the main part of the scrapyard, I yawned before turning to the two mechs. "Well, I think I'm going to go recharge. Night, Bee, Jazz."

Bee chuckles. "Astraea, you're using cybertronian terms again."

I blink before realizing that I said recharge and not sleep. "Slag it."

"Get some rest, Astraea" Bee says softly as he helps me get down from Jazz's shoulder and to the ground. "You're going to need it."

I stumble into my trailer, barely remembering to take off my swords and my socks and shoes before collapsing into my bed, falling asleep quickly.
