Chapter One

I smile as I drive up to the scrapyard I had grown to love. Of course, my coworker/boss refused to call it a scrapyard instead referring to it as a "vintage salvage depot for the discriminating nostalgist." I grin as I see Denny giving his son Russell a hug. I pull my car into the spot that Denny had specifically given me. Nothing else was to go there, except for my old car. Sure, it had been several years since the bots left, and yeah, I was earning money, but a teacher's salary isn't exactly the best, and living on my own with no other source of income, I had to work over the summer. It wasn't exactly the best living style but... you get used to it.

"Astraea!" Denny exclaims as he comes toward me. I smile softly.

"Hey, Denny", I say. He chuckles and offers a hug but I shake my head, causing him to sigh.

"Still not a hugger?" he asks. I shake my head again.

"Only one person was ever allowed to give me a hug..." I whisper. He sighs again.

"You still haven't gotten over him? It's been five years, from what you've told me? Even I know that's a long time to be grieving over someone..."

I chuckle softly. "Yeah... but... I just... I can't let him go... I feel if I do... I'll lose some part of myself..."

Denny sighs. "You're one strange woman, Astraea. You don't like hugs, you can't let someone from your past go, and you wear that hoodie all the time, even during the summer. Why do you wear that hoodie all the time?"

I smile as I adjust the hood on my head. "It's part of my past that I'm not ready to share."

Denny sighs again. "Alright, alright. I'm not going to push."

I smile tiredly at him. "So... what needs organized today?"

Denny smiles. "Well, a shipment of life-size aluminum Billy the Breakfast Beaver figures will be coming in today. It'll be here later today, so right now, we're good to just chill and hang out."

I smile. "Alright. Shall we... go into this diner you recently added to your collection?"

Denny grins. "We shall! Oh, hey, Astraea, have you had breakfast yet?"

I nod, and he shrugs. "Alright, well, what about you Russell?"

Russell shakes his head, and Denny grins. "Alright, eggs and bacon coming up!" We walk into the diner, and Denny starts cooking. Soon after he finishes cooking, a loud boom fills the air. We turn on the news, and the newsreporter says that scientists believe that a meteor finished burning up in Earth's atmosphere. Denny was instantly intrigued.

"A meteor?" he asks, excitement filling his voice. "Exploration time."

I blink, before a large smile crosses my face. "Let's go! I haven't had an adventure in a long time."

Denny smiles at me. "Alright, let's go find that meteor!"

Russell groans. "You mean 'wander around the woods looking for a sliver of rock that probably isn't there' time?"

I chuckle. "Oh, it'll be fun Russell. I mean, you get to spend time with one of your favorite teachers."

Russell groans, but a smile crosses his face anyway. "Alright..." he concedes. "Let's go."

Unfortunately, a very familiar bell rang as a car crossed onto the scrapyard property. Denny grins. "That's my nine a.m.! The one that wants to sell me the life-size Billy the Breakfast Beaver figures."

I chuckle. "Need any help closing the deal?"

Denny shakes his head. "You two go have fun searching for that meteor! Unless you want to help?"

Russell immediately shakes his head. "We'll go looking for that meteor."

Denny smiles. "Alright, well, have fun you two!"

Russell smiles as his father leaves, before the smile drops into a frown. I chuckle softly. "Oh, come on, Russell. You know you love spending time with your father."

Russell sighs. "I do... I just... I would rather be spending my time in the city, where there's actually some excitement. Nothing happens here."

I smile softly. "Trust me, some exciting things can happen in the middle of nowhere."

"Yeah, I doubt that", Russell mutters as he gets up to go and see if he can find that meteor. I follow him.

"Don't make me share one of my greatest secrets to make you believe me, Russell", I tease. He rolls his eyes.

"You don't seem to have much of any secrets, Astraea", he mutters. I shake my head softly as I chuckle.

"Trust me, I have more secrets than you could ever dream of", I whisper, though he couldn't hear me. I felt my wings twitch against my back. I sigh, and force them to stay up against my back, though I couldn't help but wish that I could go flying. I missed it, though due to me leaving the only ones who knew of it, I was stuck being unable to fly.

We traipsed through the forest, talking, until Russell became distracted by something carved on a tree.

"Rusty and Dad were here, and had a blast and a half", he reads aloud, before sighing. "A long time ago."

I smile softly, letting him wander around some more, as well as letting his thoughts run around in his minds. In the meantime, my thoughts go to the Autobots. I deeply missed them, though I knew I would never see them again. There was a possible chance that I would see my human friends again, though I hoped that wouldn't be for a long time.

Soon we find ourselves in quarry, where we hear a voice echoing that was neither of ours. And it was close too. After Russell made his voice echo, we look around a large rock to find...

A red cybertronian. Both the cybertronian and Russell screamed while I stood there shell shocked before pulling off my hoodie and opening my wings, flying up to the robots face and growling.

"State your faction! Autobot, or Decepticon?" I order. The bot looks surprised before shaking his head.

"Autobot. Who... who are you, if I may ask?" the robot asks. I glare at him, before sighing.

"No one worth mentioning. Now... why are you here again? I have never seen you before, and trust me, I knew several of the Autobots who came to Earth originally", I growl. Unfortunately, he was unable to answer due to loud roaring. We turn to look, and my eyes widen, instantly recognizing the Decepticon symbol.

"Russell, stay back", I growl before pressing the face of my watch that Raf had helped me create. It hid my swords from everyone, essentially making them invisible. I drew my swords, and the Autobot next to me laughed.

"What are those puny things supposed to do?" he laughed. I shot a glare at him before speaking.

"Unless you want one of these puny things in your optic, I suggest you shut up", I growl. And shut up he does. I turn back to the Decepticon.

"State your name, Decepticon", I yell. The Decepticon grins.

"Underbite", the 'con states proudly. "Heard of me?"

I blink before shaking my head. "No. Mainly because I am a human, not a cybertronian and therefore do not pay attention to names of unimportant Decepticons."

Underbite growls before leaping towards us. I fly up out of the way, while Russell runs forward. I ignore the red Autobot, focusing on catching up to Russell, while putting my swords away. As soon as I caught up, I yelled to Russell, extending my arms.

"Russell! Grab on to my hands!"

Russell looks up and does so, and I grip him tightly, making sure to keep his feet from skimming the ground. I dodge trees, and bushes until I hear the Autobot yell from above me.

"Aren't there any clearings on this stupid planet?"

I sigh before yelling up to him. "Follow me!" I lead him to clearing, where I set Russell down. He stares at me in shock, to which I just give a smile. When the Autobot lands beside us, Russell's attention is dragged away from me as he realizes we are now out in the open.

"Wait!" he exclaims. "Now we're out in the open! How's this better?"

The red Autobot grins as he speaks. "Because now I have room to do this."

He transforms, but no sooner than a few seconds did Underbite appear. Underbite then laughs before speaking. I ignore him, and instead focus on trying to find a way out of here.

"Russell, get in the car!" I hiss. He looks at me in surprise but when he sees my dead serious face, he listens. I'm just glad the red Autobot also heard me. Underbite tries to pounce on the Autobot but he drives away, angering Underbite. I glare at Underbite, before following Russell and the Autobot. The Autobot drives quickly and I flap my wings quickly to keep up with him. Soon, however, I see two more cybertronians, one very familiar. My breath catches in my throat as memories come to my mind. Memories from five years ago. I hadn't expected to see anyone I knew. It was only when I felt air moving quickly past me that I realized I had stopped moving my wings. With a quick thought, I started flapping my wings, and managed to catch up to the red Autobot, who had paused in front of the other two cybertronians.

"Wonderful. We've been here less than an hour, and he's already revealed himself to a human."

I take a deep breath, and speak, drawing attention to myself.

"He didn't just reveal himself to a human, Bumblebee."

The black and yellow bot's eyes widen when he sees me. He doesn't say anything but I could see it in his eyes. I could tell what he was thinking. 'I hadn't expected to run into you here.'

I knew what he was thinking because that was exactly what I was thinking.
