Chapter 18 - Time with Ichigo

Kaisha's POV

As I was flash stepping, I felt a very familiar spiritual pressure head towards me. I turned towards the figure that was now a few metres away from me. A smile came onto my face as I ran to the person. It was... Ichigo.

"Kaisha! I was looking for you" Ichigo exclaimed. He hugged me and I happily returned it.

"Did you get into a battle?" I questioned Ichigo.

"Not really" he replied. He kept his brown eyes on mine as he spoke. Slowly, he caressed my cheek with one hand and ran his other hand through my long red hair. He leaned down and our lips met. Hesitantly, I kissed back. I felt so wrong for doing this; I just kissed Grimmjow a few minutes ago.

"Is there a reason you're kissing me?" I asked after I broke the kiss.

"Does there need to be?" Ichigo grinned and raised an eyebrow. I rolled my eyes.

"Yes, of course."

"Well, I thought we could just hang out before the big war" was his reply. Are you serious, Ichigo? You want to hang out? I'm getting ready to say Time for my big lecture that I gave to Grimmjow.

"Are you serious? We are in the middle of a war and you want to hang out?!" I shouted at him. Ichigo and Grimmjow are so alike, and so weird.

"Uh, yeah" Ichigo nodded and I noticed that he looked a bit scared from my yelling. I mentally smirked.

Then Ichigo told me he had a surprise for me and that I had to close my eyes. So I closed my eyes for a minute, and then another, and then another, etc. I heard movement in front of me but still kept my eyes closed. After a minute, I heard the rustling stop.

"Kaisha! You can open your eyes now!" Ichigo said. I opened my brown eyes and I saw Ichigo standing in front of me. He stepped to the side and I saw a... picnic behind him. WTF?! It was a picnic rug and a picnic basket with a whole lot of food and drinks.

"A- A picnic?!" I stuttered. I was too stunned for words. First, Grimmjow wants to dance with me while he sings, and now Ichigo wants to have a picnic.

"If you want, we could go to a restaurant instead" Ichigo suggested. I sweat dropped.

"Shouldn't we look for hollows or espadas to kill? Not eat" I said.

"We need to eat to get our energy to fight. Besides, I'm hungry."

"Well, I'm not hun-" I started but a weird noise interrupted me. Ichigo laughed and I looked at him quizzically. Then I realised it was my stomach growling.

"Really? I'm sure you're not" Ichigo said sarcastically. I sighed but finally gave in to eating with him. We sat down on the picnic rug opposite each other. Ichigo was really enthusiastic as he took food out from the picnic basket and put them in front of us. (Just like Erza from Fairy Tail!)

There were sandwiches, sushi, biscuits, fruit, tea and chocolate cake! I got excited when I saw the chocolate cake. I still can't believe that Ichigo had all this food ready for a picnic during the war. Ichigo started eating some of the sandwiches but I just stared at the food.

"Are you okay, Kaisha?" he asked. I nodded and bit into a sandwich, I didn't want to be rude. Hopefully Ichigo didn't start talking about us dying. It was too much drama for one day.

I just finished my sandwich when I realised that I hadn't eaten for a while. The last time I ate was probably breakfast, but I didn't eat much and it was probably almost lunch time.

I felt Ichigo's stare on me but I didn't look up. My hand reached forward to grab some sushi and I chewed it slowly. Finally I lifted my head up to Ichigo's piercing brown eyes.

"Staring isn't nice, you know. It's very rude" I joked.

"I'm sorry. My manners seemed to have run away" Ichigo replied. I watched as he took his second sushi.

"Since when did you have manners?" I asked sarcastically. We laughed and the awkward tension in the air faded away.

"I've never had a proper date with you" Ichigo said, "It was always because of Grimmjow." A pang of guilt hit my stomach. What was I doing with Ichigo after just being with Grimmjow?

"Grimmjow this, Grimmjow that. I'm starting to think you have a crush on him" I joked, trying to lighten the situation. Ichigo just rolled his eyes and laughed sarcastically. I became serious once again.

"Look Ichigo, Grimmjow and I are still together, you know."

"I know but I really love you" he told me and to prove his point, he leaned forward and planted a kiss on my lips. I sighed. His eyes looked so desperate, so desperate for my attention. Why, God? What did I ever do to deserve this? Why did God have to make two boys like me? Why did God have to make me like them both?

"I'm not going to force you to like me or anything" Ichigo's voice brought me back to reality, from my questioning God.

"Let's just hang out now as friends" I emphasised the word friends. Ichigo nodded and smiled. I smiled like nothing happened and took a sip of tea. We continued eating and talking. We talked about our lives in the World of the Living, the war and just ourselves generally.

I took a slice of chocolate cake and my face lit up. "This is the best chocolate cake ever!" I exclaimed. "Did you make it?"

"Yes, I did" Ichigo said. I studied his face for a while.

"You're lying, you could never make anything this good" I accused and stuck my tongue out at him.

"That's mean. But you're right, I stole some from the kitchen" Ichigo smirked. I finished the last of my chocolate cake and observed myself. My legs and the picnic rug around me were covered in chocolate cake. I couldn't see my face but I was guessing there was chocolate on it, considering that I was a very messy eater.

My point was proven when Ichigo said, "You've got chocolate on your face." I tried to wipe it off but there seemed to be more when Ichigo wiped off a bit on my cheek with his finger.

"Better?" I asked.

"Yep, now you look beautiful and clean" Ichigo replied. He leaned over and kissed my lips. I was blushing like a tomato and Ichigo smirked.

"Ichigo" I warned. I can't believe he did that after he agreed to hang out as 'friends'. I'm pretty sure friends don't kiss on the lips.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it" he apologised and put his hands up in a 'don't shoot' sign. I sighed but forgave him.

"We should get going. The others might need help killing the espadas" I said. I did think we needed to get going but it was mainly because I didn't want to embarrass myself anymore in front of Ichigo or betray Grimmjow.

"Yeah. Do you want to come with me?" Ichigo asked. Hmm... I guess I wouldn't be doing any harm.

"Sure, as long as you don't try anything" I warned him again.

"Trust me, I won't."

"That's the problem, I have trouble trusting you" I grinned.

In a few minutes, Ichigo packed away the picnic to who knows where and was back as quick as lightning. He took my hand, while throwing me a flirting smile, and we flash stepped off to another part of the seireitei. I wonder who we'll come across.
