Chapter 43 (Rewrite)
Once I returned to the church, I shoved the three bottles of holy water into my bag and headed back to the hell house. I parked in the driveway and headed inside the house. I slowly shut the door and quietly tiptoed up the stairs, trying not to bring attention to myself. "Someone's home," Axel's voice sang across the hall. I looked to see him exiting his room.
"Are you okay?" he eyes me suspiciously. "Yeah. I just needed to clear my head," I lie. He nods his head. "Well, you'll be pleased to know that while you left, Lucifer has to attend the office," he states. I walk into my room with him trailing behind me.
"When did he leave?" I asked, dropping the bag by the closet. I stripped from my outside clothes in front of Axel, whose eyes glanced towards the closet and then back to me. He narrowed his eyes to me, "What did you buy?"
"Just girl stuff," I smiled, grabbing an oversized t-shirt from the drawer before putting it on. "Uh huh," his tone came out unconvinced. I looked towards him to see him studying me as he eyed me from the doorway, leaning against the frame. We stared at each other for a few seconds before overwhelming sadness hit me. It was as if everything had caught up to me. Turning away I walked into my bathroom and shut the door before turning the pipe on full pressure.
I felt my breathing pick up pace along with my heartbeating face. I gripped the sink as I was now feeling incredibly hopeless. I thought I was doing fine. I thought I was getting better.
A hand swiftly turned me around and pulled me into their chest. Just by the scent, I could tell it was Axel. "It's okay. You're fine," he softly whispered as his fingers passed through my hair. After a few seconds, I pulled away and looked up at him to see a soft smile on his lips.
"I want you to be honest with me," I breathed out as my breath was rapid. "I'll always be honest with you."
I went to talk again but couldn't. What's wrong with me?
He quickly cupped my face, "Nothing is wrong with you. I believe you're having an anxiety attack. I'm taking you to the hospital right now," he rushed out as he grabbed my hand and guided me out of the bathroom.
I shook my head, "No." I forced out, causing him to look at me. Please.
He let out a sigh of defeat and walked over to me. He then leaned down and planted a soft kiss on my lips. "I love you but you are the most stubborn human ever," he whispered before kissing me again. I kissed him before he gently pulled away. Within a quick motion, he picked me where my arms wrapped around his shoulders and my legs around his waist. I gave him a questioning look, and he chuckled.
"Don't worry; I'm not taking you to Pound-town. I'm not going to let you go until you feel better."
I gave him a thankful smile as I laid my head on his shoulder. Maybe Pound-town next time. Axel chuckled again as he read my mind. "I wouldn't mind that."
Axel spent the next hour walking around the house with me in his arms, kissing me and reminding me that everything would be okay. Eventually, we settled in the living room, and I sat on the couch next to Axel and decided to play some video games. After some time, Axel went to use the bathroom as I put on a random movie.
"SKYLAR!" my name boomed through the house, causing me to flinch and scream. I swear my body just took a screenshot. I sat up on the couch and turned around while on my knees to see Axel with his black eyes holding up my back.
"What the fuck is this?" he growled and opened the bag revealing the stuff I had got from Crystal.
"Just art supplies," I blurted out. Art supplies? Really Sky?
"Sky, so help me. Do not lie to me!" Axel warned. I let out a sigh, "It was to torture Lucifer. He got me so mad, and I just hate when he fucks up my plans. It's like I'm trapped, and there's no escaping, and every time I do escape, he somehow finds me," I yelled in anger.
"So you decide to use some little potion thing and holy water," he asked more like a rhetorical question. "You couldn't find something more challenging?" he asked, shaking the bag.
My eyebrow shot up, "You would help me?"
His eyes widened, "Of course not. There's nothing in this world that could stop him. Sky I know he's a pain in the ass but there's nothing you could do about it. Do you know how much trouble you would be in if he catches you with this?" he asked, shaking the bag once again.
"He wouldn't find it," I mumbled. I watched as his hand dropped, and at the same time, he let out a sigh. Sky, when a demon is around anything like holy water, a part of it starts to burn up. It's like a warning. You have three bottles of holy water, some candles, a chanting book, and some herbs," he informed me.
"I'm sorry. I'm just so annoyed and tired of dealing with him. Dealing with this," I softly replied. The door clicked open, and Axel quickly cursed before disappearing. The door flew open, and Lucifer walked in. He turned to look at me with a questionable look. "What?" he eyed me.
"Nothing," I mumbled as I sat back on the couch. "Where's Axel," he asked, stepping into the room. "The hell if I know," I murmured, pulling out my phone. I went through my messages and replied to some of the texts. "Why are you so down," he asked, plopping down beside me.
You can't be serious. I looked up from my phone and turned to look at him. He was wearing a bright smile. "I'm back. Ready to play some video games again," Axel's voice bounced into the room. "Sure." He grabbed the controllers and passed me mine.
Axel sat on my other side and pulled me onto his lap. With his arms wrapped around my waist, he started the match.
"So what happened at the office?" Axel started a conversation. "Dude, you wouldn't believe this, but they're sending out the shipments to Japan as we speak," Lucifer spoke with glee.
Axel acted surprised. "That's great," he chirped, side-eyeing me. I rolled my eyes and mentally scoffed. "I know, right? They seemed to be a little scared when I asked them what changed their minds, but otherwise, everything's working out fine," he continued. "So, how was your drive?" Lucifer turned towards me.
"Not long enough," I forced a smile to my face. "I can sense you're mad. Why are you mad?" he blindly asked. My grip tightened on the control. Axel then kissed my shoulder. He can't be that stupid. "I'm not stupid," Lucifer hissed.
"Stop reading my mind!" I screamed at him. His eyes narrowed to mine, "I already explained why and when I could read your mind."
I shook my head, "I know you're reading my mind on purpose right now."
I saw him tensing up, and I knew I was right. Before he could say anything, his phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket and walked out of the room. I turned to Axel, who was already staring at me. "Where did you put my bag?" I hissed.
"It's somewhere in Alaska," he whispered. "Unbelievable," I scoffed, jumping out of his lap. I grabbed his face by the chin and lowered my face to his eye level, "I'm thankful for you helping me, and I love you for it, but I really want to kill you right now," I hissed in a hushed tone before planting a kiss on his lips. I threw the controller on the couch and walked towards the door. I pulled open the door, but a hand slammed it shut. "Where are you going?" an irritated voice came behind me. I turned around to see Lucifer's green eyes meeting mine.
"For a walk," I hissed. "Not until you -"
"I'm going whether you're going to let me or not," I scoffed, pushing his hand off the door. I pulled open the door and stepped outside, then slammed the door shut behind me.
I've never wanted to escape so much in my life. Maybe death is the only answer at this point.

Lucifer
"What's her problem?" I groaned in annoyance, turning to look at Axel. He squinted his eyes at me, so it turned into a death stare. "You can't be serious," he shouted in disbelief.
"I'm serious."
Earlier's argument wasn't even such a big deal. She's blowing this whole thing out of proportion. Sky getting her own place when she's not fully healed from her trauma is just going to make things worse. I know she hasn't had a flashback yet, but supposing she did and Axel or I wasn't around, there's no telling what she would or could do because of her powers.
"She's mad at you. I would be, too, if you had tried to keep her locked up in here. Lucifer, I understand you still love her, but trapping her in here with you is punishment enough, and it's bad enough that her so-called brother isn't going to let her move back until she tells him what happened," he explained. I stared at him and mentally smacked myself. How can I be so stupid and selfish?
"ARE YOU LISTENING TO ANYTHING I SAY?" Axel was now enraged. "I hear you. Chill out. I'm thinking how to fix this," I murmured. That would nearly be impossible," he laughed, finding my statement amusing.
My eyebrow rose at his statement, "Why would it be impossible?"
"I said nearly impossible, not entirely impossible," he corrected. "It would be nearly impossible because she absolutely hates your guts for everything you put her through."
"Like what?" I furrowed my eyebrows at his accusation.
"Like forcing her to do things she doesn't want to do, sleeping with some other girl, not letting her in, always putting her down. The list goes on and on, man. Every time you fix shit, you always somehow kill it. I'm starting to think Sky's right about you." He spoke the last sentence more to himself instead of to me.
"Right about what?" I asked as he started walking out of the room. "Right about you being stupid, you fucking twat," he shouted from the other room. I let his words sink in. He was right. Every time Skylar became happy, I found some way to destroy it. It wasn't like I did it on purpose. The girl can sometimes find a strange way to piss me off. I should talk to her, but she will probably never listen to me.
I let out a groan and walked into the living room, where Axel was now watching TV. I sat on a separate couch and thought about how I could make it up to Sky. My eyes widened at my brilliant idea, and I quickly pulled out my phone. I dialed Gabe's number.
"What," he answered in a cold tone. Someone's in a bitchy mood.
"Yeah. I want you to text me the cemetery where Sky's parents are buried," I demanded.
"That's not creepy at all," he whispered more to himself. "Just do it," I rolled my eyes.
"Fine."
"Thanks. I think allowing her to visit her parents is probably the only thing that could cheer her up," I informed him.
"What do you mean allowing her? Lucifer, I swear if you fuck this shit up, I'm going to beat your ass exactly like how I did in the ballroom five years ago," Gabe threatened. I stayed silent as I'd never seen this side of Gabe.
"She's fine," I manage to process. "I swear I'm surrounded by people with smooth fucking brains," he hissed before hanging up. Did he call me stupid? Axel burst out into laughter as he overheard the conversation. I sent him a glare, which he ignored.
Getting off the couch, I headed out of the house, trying to find Sky to tell her about the plans for tomorrow. I followed her scent and found myself in the woods. As I emerged from the wood, I saw in the distance that Sky was sitting at the cliff's edge with her legs dangling off.
This was where we had our first date. I sat down on the bench behind me and watched as she looked out to the ocean. I heard a sniffle and watched as she lifted his hand and wiped her cheek. My heart instantly dropped at what I had just witnessed. I made her cry.
I've never hated myself so much in my entire life. Man, was I an asshole. I just wanted to run over to her and wrap her in my arms but I knew she would probably push me away. I say I love her, but I don't treat her that way. My Princessa deserved to be treated like a Princessa. She let out a small weep, and I got up and walked towards her.
I stopped in my tracks. What am I doing? She's going to hate me if I cradle her now. The only reason she's out here is because of me. Focusing my powers, I read her mind.
I should have just tried to kill him when I had the chance. He deserves it, especially what he put me through. I thought everything was fine, but this will never be fine. I was at peace for once, but that could never happen. I shouldn't even help him with the shipment today.
Her voice echoed through my head.
Shipment today? Wait...SHE WANTED TO KILL ME!!
I felt my body stiffened at the thought of Sky trying to kill me. Did she hate me that much? I took this beautiful human and destroyed her mentally and physically. I saw her turning around, and I quickly teleported back to my house. "AXEL!" I shouted through the house. "WHAT?" he shouted back from upstairs. I flashed upstairs into his room.
"She wanted to kill me," I choked out as her words still ran through my head. I watched as none of this information phased him. "Did you know about this?" I growled. He rolled his eyes and fixed the blanket on his bed.
"Yes. I knew about that. It happened today while you were out. She went to a church and got three bottles of holy water, a chant book, some candles, and herbs," he spoke calmly.
"But that stuff can't kill me. Only torture but barely," I spoke the obvious. He turned to look at me, "She knows that."
"What about the shipment? She said she should have never helped me today with the shipments," I asked. I watched as he twitched a little. "I don't know," he lied. It's amusing that people think they can lie to me and actually think they can get away with it.
I flashed in front of him and held him by the collar, "You have one more chance to tell me what I don't know, and I will not kick your ass," my voice grew into my demonic tone while my hands changed into their demon form.
"Well, if you release me, I'll tell you." I studied Axel's face as he was unphased by my threats. I let out a growl and released him. I watched as he took his time and fixed his shirt. My patience was quickly running out.
"Last night, while you were sleeping, I was on the phone with one of the executives, and Sky walked in. She looked through some of the papers on the desk. All she said was to schedule a meeting and trust her, so I did," he explained.
"So that's where you guys went this morning. To the office," I filled in.
He applauded me, "Sherlock fucking Holmes, everyone," he gestured to me as he clapped.
"AXEL!"
"Sky did all the talking, and she threatened to kill any of them if they disobeyed you again. You should've seen their face," he laughed as he vividly remembered them. "She did that for me?" was all I could say.
"All for someone so kind and sweet," he mocked. "Did she tell you she loved you yet? I mean, sincerely love you?"
I shook my head, stepping away from him. "Crazy because before she left, she kissed me and told me she loves me even though she wants to kill me," his voice came out with glee. I turned around to see a smirk on his lips. Son of a bitch!
A door slammed shut, and Axel held up both hands, giving me the middle finger. "Suck a dick, mother fucker," he snickered before disappearing.
"Fuck!" I found myself shouting. I knew it would happen eventually. We both did. We also knew that no matter how good or bad I treated Sky, she'd always love me more. It doesn't excuse my behavior, but it's what Hell proclaims.
Hell never lies.
