Chapter 32 (Rewrite)
"I'm surprised you didn't scream," Axel said as we were all now watching regular TV. So am I," I mumbled as my eyes slowly started to close. He asked something else, but my mind was too tired to focus. "Sky," he called. I hummed in response.
"You want me to carry you to your bed?" he asked. I opened my eyes and sat up, "No, I'll be back," I mumbled as I walked out of the room. I heard Lucifer say something, and Axel agreed.
I walked upstairs and into my room. I closed the door and headed over to my backpack. I dug inside and fetched the bottle of pills out. I popped it open and took 4 caffeine pills. Sleeping still scared it. I felt like I would slip back into the memories and hands of my kidnapper. I heard a buzzing and looked to see my phone lighting up on the dresser. Using my powers, I held my hand out, causing my phone to fly into my palm. I unlocked my phone to see a message from Jayson.
Jayson: Hey sorry to bother you Peaches but I need u to fill out some mission reports and make some blueprints for them. Sorry about that. Love u
Me: It's okay and I'm on it. Love u too
I grabbed my laptop from the backpack, headed back downstairs, and saw the lights on in the kitchen. I walked in and saw Axel making some drinks. Lucifer was typing away on his phone while drinking.
"Want one?" Axel asked. I turned to see him holding up a bottle of strawberry vodka. "Sure," I mumbled while walking towards the counter. I took a seat and opened my laptop in front of me. I started some of the reports and blueprints. "Here you go," Axel said, pushing the glass of ice-cold vodka with sprite toward me.
"Thanks," I smiled and drank some of it while I worked. We all sat silently in the kitchen while the soft music filled the room.
After about an hour or so, I started to feel a little buzzed. I brushed it off and continued to work on the reports. I stopped when my eye barely made out the keypad anymore. "Question, what is in this drink?" I asked, pointing to my now empty glass. Axel glanced up from his phone and looked at me. "Just vodka and three shots," he said, giving me a curious look. I slowly blinked and rubbed the side of my head.
"What were the shots?" I slowly looked up at him. "Just white rum," he shrugged.
"Idiot," Lucifer scowled. I turned to see him glaring at Axel. Rum gets her drunk. It's practically the only thing that gets her drunk," he explained.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know," Axel apologized. It's okay; you didn't know," I mumbled as I closed my eyes and opened them again. It's kind of weird, though. I never got this buzzed before with only three shots of rum," I said, holding onto the counter. "You should just sleep it off. It's probably because your body is still in healing mode," Lucifer yelled, his voice echoing through my head.
"Shhh, stop yelling," I shushed him as I held my head. "Uhh...he didn't yell," Axel said. I slowly looked up at him and then at Lucifer. "What?" I asked in confusion. Axel and Lucifer looked at each other and then back at me. "I didn't yell," Lucifer said.
What's happening to me? "Sorry," I mumbled and placed my head on the counter. "Someone needs some sleep," Axel said, grabbing my hand. I took my hand out of his holding and shook my head, "I'll be fine. I need some water," I said, stretching my foot for the floor. I realized the stool was high up and I looked down to see the floor was far from my foot. How did I manage to get up here?
I heard a chuckle, and I looked up to see Axel laughing. "I'll get you some water," he offered, and I thanked him. I turned around in my seat to see Lucifer staring at me. I stared back for a few seconds but was pulled out by a phone ringing. I realized it was my phone, so I picked it up.
"Yellow," I chirped into the phone. "Hoe, I miss you," Mel cheered from the other line. "Nah, don't pull that. I'm mad at you," I tried to sound serious. "Are you breaking up with me?" Mel fake cried. "Yes, we're breaking up. I know you're cheating on me," I scoffed. "I told you I'm just doing it for the money," she assured me, playing along, "And besides, you know very well you're banging them as well, so don't play innocent," she chirped.
"Excuse me," I scoffed. She cleared her throat, "YOU BANGING THEM HARD!" she screamed through the phone. I yanked the phone away from my ear to hear her laughing. "Your English is crap, and suck it," I said, rolling my eyes. "You know you love me. Anyways, I just called to check on my best friend," she chirped.
"I'm fine, and you?" I partially lied. "Tired. They have me working double shifts in the diner," she huffed in an exhausted breath. "Mel, I told you, you don't have to work. I got you," I stated. "I know. I don't like you spending on me," she yawned. "Just go sleep," I sighed. "Alright. I hope I see you soon. Love you, Sky," she spoke tiredly through the phone. "Love you too, Mel," I smiled before hanging up.
I saw a glass of water being pushed in front of me, and I looked up to see it was Axel. "Thanks," I mumbled before drinking down some of the water. I felt my stomach turning upside down, and I hopped off the stool. "Bathroom now!" I begged out loud. A hand grabbed me, and I felt like I was going to puke any second.
Within a blink, I was in front of the toilet. I dropped to my knees and emptied my stomach. I felt my hair being tied up and my back being rubbed as I threw up more. After about four minutes or so, I finally stopped. I slowly stood up but couldn't find my strength. A hand pulled me up, and I silently thanked them as I went to the sink. I found my toothbrush and brushed my mouth clean until I could no longer taste the sourness. I slowly looked around and felt nauseating take over me along with blurriness. I slowly fixed my hair in a tight bun. "I'll be right back," a voice mumbled, and I just hummed at whoever it was.
I looked in the mirror but saw nothing since everything was blurry. I turned the pipe on and filled up the sink with water three-quarterways. I turned off the pipe and slashed my face with it. This is nice. The water is nice. I looked down at the blurry pool of water and slowly merged my face into it. Relaxing. I felt myself slowly drifting with the water. All is silent. I slowly blinked, causing the water to wash over my eyes gently. I was starting to become numb, and I felt my legs giving in.
I felt something yanked me out of the water and into something soft. It ran over my face fast, then was pulled away. I slowly opened my eyes to see a pair of black eyes. "The hell, Sky? You almost drowned," Lucifer growled.
I slowly blinked and shrugged. "I was just doing everyone a favor," I found myself saying. "Rum has never had this effect on you," he mumbled, primarily to himself. Probably no sleep in 2 days. Probably caffeine pills.
"What?" he said, looking at me. "What?" I asked. What did you just say?" he said, now glaring at me. I squinted my eyes to see him better. "I said something?" I asked in confusion. "What did you take?" he asked. "Rum," I shrugged. He let out a sigh, and I felt myself slipping. His hand held me up, and I felt sleepy. I must stay awake.
"Why?" he asked again. "Why what?" I asked in confusion. This guy is on some crack. "For fuck sake, AXEL," he shouted.
"Yeah," a voice came behind me. I turned around to see Axel looking at me. "Search her room for anything she may have besides clothes. She took something," Lucifer demanded. He nodded, and within a blink, he was out of sight. "Why are you searching my room?" I slowly huffed out. "Just go into the bedroom," he mumbled.
I slowly walked 1 step forward but felt the room moving. I stood still and spread out my arms. "Don't move. The room is moving," I whispered.
"I found a bottle of pills," a voice said. I saw Axel looking at me with amusement on his face. "Pills?" Lucifer asked, walking up to him. It's funny how the room doesn't move when they walk. "Caffeine pills," Axel explained.
Lucifer took the bottle from him and then walked in front of me. "Why do you have this?" Lucifer scowled, showing me the bottle. "I can't move," I whispered. "For crying out loud," he growled impatiently. I was then picked up and then placed on something soft. I looked around to see I was sitting on my bed.
"Just sit here," he said, walking to the bathroom. I watched as Axel gave me a small smile and followed him. Now I remember why I stopped taking them. They always made me sick. I saw something flash across the doorway, and I turned to look, but nothing was there. I slowly exited the bed and peeked into the hallway from left to right. In the distance, I saw a figure walking down the stairs, then it disappeared.
I slowly walked down the hall and stopped at the top of the stairs. I saw the front door being closed and slowly walked down the stairs, making sure I didn't trip or lose balance. I opened the door and stepped outside. "Hello," I softly called out. I looked around, and the driveway was clear. This is how people die in the movies.
I rubbed my eyes and blinked a couple of times to clear what blurriness I had left. Maybe I needed some actual sleep, but that would be impossible. I looked around one last time and opened and closed the front door. I turned around to see a bright light. "Come back for more," an evil laugh came into the room.
I looked across the room to see my kidnapper standing there with a smirk. I turned to open the door, but the door was no longer there. It was a white wall. "I'm just imagining this. It's not real," I breathe in and out slowly. I turned around, and a little scream escaped from me when he was standing 1 foot away from me. "It's just my imagination," I pleaded to myself as I tried to blink away the illusion.
"Is it?" he laughed menacingly. My hand was snatched from the side of me and held in front of me. "If it was your imagination, then I guess this isn't real," he spoke before taking a knife and cutting my arm horizontally. I hissed at the pain and pushed him back. I watched as my fresh cut started to bleed, and my eyes widened. I heard a chuckle and turned to see a smirk tugging on his lips.
"Still imagining?" he playfully questioned. I looked down and saw my hand was still bleeding. I closed my eyes tightly and counted backward. "10.9.8.7.6.5.4.3-"
"Sky, it's okay! Breathe! You're fine," I heard a loud voice. I opened my eyes and saw that I was still in front of the entrance door but was now on the floor. Lucifer was holding my hands in his hand while Axel's hands were on my temple, probably getting ready to snap me out of whatever I was seeing. I quickly looked down at my arm to see I had no cuts on my arms. I'm crazy. It's official. I got off the floor without saying anything and walked into the kitchen. I opened the fridge and pulled out a monster. I placed it on the counter and grabbed a cup. Pouring in some Hennessy, I mixed some Monster and chugged it.
"Slow down," a voice mumbled as they took the cup from me. "What just happened?" Lucifer asked, placing the cup on the counter. Axel stood across the island, watching me.
I shrugged and picked up the cup again, but he snatched it out of his hand, and I watched as he poured it down the sink. "What happened?" he asked more demandingly. "Dude, chill out," Axel said in a concerned tone.
"Nothing that concerns you," I mumbled to Lucifer as I walked around the counter. His hand pulled me back and spun me around, so I was now looking at him. "Care to explain this?" he asked, shoving the pill bottle in my face.
"If you read the label, it says it helps you stay awake and gives you energy," I sarcastically replied. "Stop testing me," he growled. "News flash, you don't scare me," I scoffed and walked away. "You never even seen me full-on mad," he hollered behind me. "Now tell me what is happening to you," he demanded.
"Look, it was nothing okay. I just need some space," I said, pushing him away. I walked out of the room and up the stairs. What is happening to me?
