Chapter 30 (Rewrite)
"Ready?" Axel asked as he pulled his T-shirt over his head. I nodded as I hopped off his bed and showed him the address. Within a blink, we were standing in front of the warehouse. Looking around the lot, I saw all my brother's cars there. Walking up to the entrance, I scanned my hand on the front pad, causing the door to unlock.
"Fancy," Axel mumbled behind me. We walked into the building and towards the main room, where all my brothers surrounded someone in the center. The room was big enough to have a basketball court. The walls were black marble, and the black floors were lined with a firm pad. Bleachers were on the far side of the room where some of the guys' stuff was lying on top. Slowly walking around the outside of the group, I saw James and Gabe, who were the ones in the center teaching the rest of them.
"When in combat, always remain focused and always be aware of your surroundings. Today, you'll do some training in combat for 30 minutes, and then you'll all be fighting me. Whoever wins against me will take my place as follows, and then the next person will fight the said winner. Each fight will last 5 minutes. After the timer stops, you must stop. Now go choose someone to train with until then," Gabe dismissed everyone.
As everyone disbursed, they soon started to notice me. My brothers soon gathered around me, greeting me and giving me hugs. "I miss you," Cody squealed as he hugged me.
"Is this training or recess?" James' voice shouted, causing everyone to leave and go to their own section of the room.
I rolled my eyes as James made his way towards me, while Gabe stayed in the center of the room, eyeing us. "You're not supposed to be here," James's frustrated voice said.
"Actually, I can. I got permission," I forced a smile on my face. He studied me for a minute. "You're not fighting, and don't talk to any of the guys. They need to focus," James bluntly replied before walking back over to Gabe. I looked over to Gabe, whose eyes were filled with anger. Ignoring his look, I turned to Axel, who was now looking around the room.
"What did I miss?" a voice came beside me. I turned to see Lucifer was now standing next to me in joggers and a t-shirt like Axel. I turned my attention back to James and Gabe, who were now heading towards the back room.
"Well, James doesn't approve of her being here, and it looks like there's still tension between Gabe and her," Axel informed Lucifer.
I looked around the room and spotted Ethan. I looked back to James and Gabe, who disappeared around the corner.
"Are you okay?" Lucifer's voice became concerned. "Yeah, one minute," I brushed him off as I headed towards Ethan, who was training with Cody.
"Give me a minute," I said to Cody, who stepped away without a question. Ethan chuckled briefly before shaking his head in disapproval. "I know what you want, and the answer is no."
"Come on. He's been a fucking asshole for the longest while. Give me this one favor, please," I pouted. A smirk rose to his lips, "Fine, only if you do something for me in return," he offered.
My eyebrow rose, "Fair enough. What do you want?"
"I want an F-16 Fighting Falcon," he stated. My mouth dropped in shock. "Out of everything you could ask for, you want that?" I asked in disbelief.
He nodded his head with a grin. I let out a scoff, "Fine. Get me the fight with Gabe, and you got yourself a deal," I stuck my hand out. He shook my hand, and I returned to Lucifer and Axel, who were conversing casually.
"Everything okay?" Axel asked, eyeing me. I nodded my head. For the next hour, I watched as Lucifer and Axel did Calisthenics, which was quite impressive. Axel was doing a planche push-up while Lucifer was in a handstand motion. His right hand was on the ground while his body was in the air. I watched intently as he balanced himself without any effort.
While they were doing that, behind them, in the center of the room, were my brothers taking turns fighting against Gabe. So far, no one won against him, which is expected since Gabe's combat was unique and deadly. After 5 minutes, if you kept fighting Gabe, it would change into a deathmatch.
James asked Lucifer and Axel if they wanted the center room to fight against each other, but they both declined, saying it would put everyone at risk and that it was dangerous. This made me more intrigued.
I whistle across the warehouse, and my eyes trailed over to see Sean with a grin. I let out a squeal before standing up and running over to him. He opened his arms, and I leaped into them before he picked me up and hugged me.
"You're back!" I squealed with a giggle. He let out a chuckle and kissed the side of my head. "I am only for a few, though. I have to head back to another mission. I decided to come and check on you," he smiled as he placed me down.
I frowned, "Awe, well, thank you."
Sean then glimpsed behind me, "Do I even ask?" he mumbled as his eyes shifted to mine. I shook my head, "I'd rather you didn't."
His phone then rang, and he let out a groan of annoyance. He pulled out his phone and answered it without looking at the caller ID. "Would you give me a fucking chance? I'm coming," he spat before hanging up.
"Does someone have to go?" I playfully teased. "Sadly. As soon as I come back, we can go somewhere nice," he smiled. He lifted my hand to his lips and kissed my knuckles.
I forced a smile on my face as I started to feel guilty. I didn't want to do anything with Sean anymore as long as Lucifer was around. It felt wrong despite Lucifer and I not dating or even being official. It just felt wrong.
"Take care of yourself," Sean softly spoke as we hugged. "Don't let him get inside your head," he muffled into my hair before planting a kiss on my forehead. Before I could ask what he meant, he turned on his heels and exited the room. What did he mean don't let him get inside my head? I knew he was talking about Lucifer but it still didn't make sense.
I turned around to see Lucifer and Axel talking amongst themself. As I got closer, it was clear Lucifer was angry and tensed up about something. Part of me felt like it was from him seeing how Sean acted with me. Deciding not to push a conversation, I sat down on the floor and watched as more of my brothers fought Gabe.
After a few more brothers went against him, Ethan was the last to fight him. As Ethan started to fight him, I got off the floor and made my way closer to the center, standing next to Weston, who was observing them. The timer soon went off, and Ethan got off the floor. He sat up and headed my way. We exchanged a look, and I knew what that meant.
I walked towards Gabe and stood 10 feet away from him. I watched as his eyes settled into a stern look. "I'm not fighting you," he growled.
"Sky, I already told you, you're not fighting," James shouted from the side. I looked over to Ethan, who was standing next to him. Ethan quickly pinned James down to the floor so he couldn't intervene.
"Fine. Have it your way. I warned you," Gabe scowled as he took over his sweaty shirt. He wiped his face with it and tossed it aside. "Just don't cry, little sister, when I beat your fucking ass," he threatened.
"Gabe, don't fucking do it. She's baiting you," James shouted from the floor. Me challenging Gabe was like asking Death itself to fight me.
I got into the defense position, and so did Gabe. We circled for a bit before I tackled him to the ground and landed a punch to his face. He quickly threw me off him and pinned me to the ground before raising his hand to punch me. I promptly blocked it, only for him to deliver a hard punch to my ribs, causing the air to be knocked out of me. I used my legs to flip him off me. I quickly got up, and so did he.
We both ran towards each other and tackled each other to the ground. I delivered some blows to Gabe's face, and he did the same in return. Using my powers, I shoved him over me. Gabe stood up from the floor and chuckled. The timer went off, but we paid no attention to it despite James, who was protesting.
Gabe charged at me and tackled me to the floor. He then held me in a headlock causing my breathing to cut off. I could hear everyone starting to shout at Gabe to release me, but he ignored me. My eyes landed on Lucifer, who was walking towards us, probably to break up the fight.
No. He stopped in his steps.
I grabbed Gabe's forearm, which was wrapped around my neck. Using all my strength and power, I bent over, causing Gabe to fly over my head and land on his back by my foot. He grabbed my leg with one arm and yanked me down to the mat before placing me in a headlock again. Using my elbows, I delivered some blows to the side of his face causing him to release me. As he went to stand up, I leaped on top of him with my legs wrapped around his neck as I was on his shoulder. I tightened my grip, causing him to stay on his knees, unable to stand. He quickly used all his strength to pry me off him before throwing me across the floor.
I quickly caught myself and stood up. Before I could make a move, Gabe pinned me to the floor and started to punch me. I went to use my powers to get him off me, but he quickly wrapped his hand around my neck while the other kept punching. Unable to use my powers, I reached to his ribs and gripped them, causing him to suck in a sharp breath of air.
Gabe was then tackled off me, and I took in a massive breath as I was able to breathe. I sat up and watched as Randy and Kevin struggled to hold Gabe back.
"That's all you got, you stupid mother fucker," I laughed as I spat out some blood. I went to tackle him, but a hand pulled me back. I looked to see it was Axel. I quickly flipped him over and launched myself to Gabe, tackling him to the floor.
Gabe placed me in a chokehold before laughing, "Death wish much?" he asked as he tightened his hold.
"You have no idea," I choked out before elbowing him in the ribs. He released me, and I quickly tackled him to the floor. I wrapped my legs around his right hand and placed my foot against his neck, with my hands gripping his. Gabe rolled over before quickly freeing himself and wrapping one of his hands around my neck while the other grabbed my side, squeezing my ribs. I delivered an uppercut to his face, causing blood to trickle down his nose, but he didn't move.
Gabe was then yanked off me, and I was pulled off the floor. "Get her out of here!" James shouted as he walked over to us. Within a blink, I was staring at the front of Lucifer's house. I stood still briefly before laughing as I remembered how bloody Gabe's face was. I knew he did a number on me, but I knew it pissed him off when I delivered those uppercuts to his face.
"Are you okay?"
I turned to see Axel with a worried look. I nodded my head with a smile. "I'm good. I'm going to shower. Do you mind if I use your car to go somewhere myself?" I asked.
"You'd have to ask Lucifer for permission. He didn't come home with us but might be home in a few," he informed me with a smile. I nodded my head in understanding before making my way inside the house. I headed up to my room and stripped from my clothes. Looking at myself in the mirror, I saw my lip was busted, and all over my body had bruise makes. My eyebrow was also slightly busted.
I hopped in the shower and spent an hour scrubbing myself. After I finished, I hopped out and dressed in shorts and a tank top. I left my room and stood before Lucifer's cracked open door. I heard movement and knocked on the door before pushing it open.
"Lu, can I -" I stopped as I saw a blonde-headed, shirtless girl sitting on top of Lucifer. She let out a squeal as she yanked the sheets up to her chest, covering her breast. I looked at Lucifer, who didn't seem overly phased.
"What?" he barked as he pushed the girl off him. Lucifer got out of the bed, shirtless and in his joggers. "Make it quick," his voice came out cold as she stood in front of him. I felt my heart drop and shattered all at once. After our moment yesterday in the club, I thought we were getting closer again. I thought things were finally changing. How stupid could I be thinking Lucifer could change?
"Today, Sky," Lucifer rolled his eyes, looking down at me. "Right," I felt my voice cracking. I cleared my throat, trying to force away the now-forming lump. "I wanted permission to go somewhere alone," I mumbled quickly, avoiding his eyes.
"Sure, just be back before 6."
I looked over to the girl, who was staring at me with an annoyed look. I looked up at Lucifer, who had no expression on his face.
"Why?" I found myself whispering out loud. He then bent down to my eye level. "Why don't you go have your little date with Sean," he gritted through his teeth. I felt the hairs on my arm stand up, knowing Lucifer knew about me and Sean.
I let out a laugh as I quickly wiped away a tear. "You dumb fuck. If you had read my mind while I was talking to him, you'd know I thought about staying away from him if you were going to be around. You know what, you're right, though. But since Sean's on a mission, maybe I'll just fuck Axel instead for now," I hysterically laughed as I turned on my heel and slammed his door shut. I wasn't going to fuck Axel, but I hoped my words hurt him.
I walked into my room and grabbed some cash before heading downstairs. Axel was nowhere to be found except for some keys on the counter. I grabbed them and headed outside. I saw Axel's car sitting in the driveway, so I hopped in and started the car. I drove out of the driveway and headed down the sped down the street.
I spent an hour driving to the mall, thinking that window shopping would distract me from some stuff. Pulling into the lot, I parked the car and headed inside as thunder rolled through the skies. I stopped by the mall's pharmacy and decided to buy some caffeine pills I had been taking before college since I knew eventually staying awake would be an issue. I studied the bottle for a bit, trying to recall why I stopped taking it, but nothing came to mind, so I bought it. After that, I spent some time walking around the mall before sitting down at the food court.
I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry. I can't believe this is happening all over again. I get being jealous, but to fuck a chick out of spite instead of talking to me about it was uncalled for. Getting up from my table, I headed through the mall again but stopped in front of the dispensary. I debated for a few seconds before walking in. I saw the same guy from yesterday behind the counter.
"Hey, it's you," he smirked. I nodded my head as I walked up to the counter. "It is. Do you have anymore cookies from yesterday and the joints you gave Lucifer?" I asked.
He studied me for a minute before nodding. "I do, but I'm not going to offer it to you," he informed me, causing my eyebrow to furrow. "What? Why?" I asked.
"Because you're human, and only if My Lord decides you can have some, then you can," he informed me. "But I have money," I pleaded.
He chuckled, "Silly girl. Money isn't the currency in this store. Blood is."
"Then take it," I angrily said, holding my hand out. His eyebrow rose, "Seriously?" he asked.
"I want five cookies and four joints and a lighter. How much?" I bluntly asked.
"A pint."
"Deal."
From under the counter, he pulled out a needle with a bag. For the next 10 minutes, the guy carefully took my blood and put a bandaid on me before picking up my order. Before leaving, he made me drink water and eat some crackers. After I finished, he gave me the bag, and I left before driving home. I ate half of a cookie as I sped home. The house slowly came into view, and I stopped a distance away. Grabbing the bag, I exited the car, headed through the trees, and made myself to the cliff overlooking the waters.
I sat on the edge and ate the cookie out before eating another whole one. As I finished it, I felt like the entire world started to spin. I fell back laughing as I gazed up at the sky. It was beautiful. The clouds float around without a care in the world. I wonder if clouds get sad, and that's why it rains. I pulled out a joint and lit it before smoking it. I stared at the horizon and couldn't help but feel warm as the colors were a soft mixture of orange and yellow, like the sunset.
I laid back down as I continued to smoke out the joint. Once I finished, I grabbed the bag and stood up, only to stumble forward on the cliff. I quickly balanced myself before bursting out laughing as I could've just killed myself. I wondered what my panicked face looked like, which made me laugh louder.
I stumble my way back to the car. I hopped into the car, turned the key, and started the ignition. "Oh, I'm high. I should've been driving, but I'll drive extra slow as a precaution," I gave myself a peep-talk. I slowly stepped on the gas, which caused the car to move. As I looked at the house, I saw I was slowly getting further away. I looked down at the shift to see I was in reverse, causing me to laugh uncontrollably. I shifted into drive.
"Fuck it!" I squealed as I slammed my foot on the gas. The car zoomed down the street, causing me to giggle. I then slammed on the brakes as I pulled up in front of the house. I slowly pulled into the driveway and turned the car off. I hid the bottle of caffeine pills in Axel's car and grabbed my bag before eating another cookie and heading to the door.
I fumbled around with the knob before pushing the door open and falling flat on my face. I rolled over on my back before laughing. Luckily, I couldn't feel anything since I was completely numb, and my skin was tingling with a weird sensation.
"Sky?" a voice echoed through the house. A face appeared, and my eyebrow rose in confusion. "Axel, why are you upside down?" I asked.
Axel chuckled, "Sunshine, you're on the floor."
"Right," I burst out laughing as he helped me off the floor. "Are you drunk?" Axel asked as I tried to balance myself. "Nope," I held my hands on my sides to balance, "Just high," I giggled.
Within a blink, Axel was gone. I shrugged and used my powers to put music on as I lay on the couch and hung my upper body off the sofa so I was upside down.
"Sky?" a voice shouted. I quickly sat up and stood on the couch to see Lucifer and Axel in the room. "Sir, yes, Sir!" I saluted him, causing Lucifer to roll his eyes while Axel laughed.
"What edibles did you take?" Lucifer walked up to me, standing behind the couch, looking up at me with his arms folded across his chest.
I threw the bag at him. "Cookies and joint from the place yesterday," I giggled. Lucifer's eyes widened, "How much did you eat and smoke?" he shrieked worriedly.
I shrugged, "Like three cookies and a joint," I laughed at his funny expression.
Lucifer held his hand up to my neck and stared at my chest. He then mumbled something in Latin, to which Axel disappeared out of the room and reappeared.
"You know," I spoke, holding Lucifer's shoulders as I climbed over the couch. His hands quickly held me steady as I stumbled off the couch. I giggled as I stood up straight before looking up at him.
"It's okay if you want to fuck other chicks. I forgive you," I gently slapped his face. "And if you need to find yourself, then go for it. I support you. If you want to come out of the closet, no one will judge you for being gay," I laughed, causing his eyes to glare at me.
"I'm not gay, and I didn't fuck her," he mumbled as he threw me over his shoulder. My body tingled as his hands held my legs.
I started to uncontrollably laugh, "You seen her breast and didn't fuck her? You are gay," I blurted out before laughing harder. Lucifer began to speak in Latin, and Axel started to respond to him in Latin, which didn't bother me. I was too busy laughing. This high was a nice feeling.
