Happy Holidays

This isn't a part of the story, but I figured I should through you a bone. I havent finished the next chapter, I'm really sorry. I don't have an excuse, I've just been really busy and stressed. Family issues and school and anxiety are just bending me over, ya know? I'm going to try to get a few more chapters up before I return to school since I'm on winter break and have no homework.

But I don't want to be mean so here is a holiday chapter. Now, I know I don't know all of your holiday traditions, so I'm not going to write anything religious, and as an atheist, I wouldn't know how to. Instead I'm going to try and make it more focused on the spirit of being with loved ones. I am sorry if it comes off as Christmas is the most important holiday, because IT ISNT. They are all lovely in their own ways so, I'm going to try and make it as broad as I can. Before I let you go, just wanna inform you I plan on actually posting on my Tumblr (hot-pocket01) and ao3 (Hot_Pocket02). My tumblr will have some stuff not posted on my Wattpad and just me being weird in general. Anyway, have a nice holiday and if you're on break, enjoy your time off!!

The holidays are meant for people to spend time with their loved ones. Some cultures light candles, smooth a green table cloth on the table, or huddle around a decorated pine tree. A time where people rush last minute in search of any acceptable gifts and try their best to guess what they will be given. The holidays were truly exhausting and at the Titans Tower, things were not any easier.

Kori wanted to indulge in the holidays and make the most of it, it being Damian's first holiday at the Tower. She insisted everyone participate in the "fun" activities she has planned. The first was paper snowflakes. Raven used her magic to cut the paper, focusing on a book; Garfield's snowflakes looked as though they survived the shredder; Damian created one and left the room; Kori happily cut multiple unique snowflakes while sipping hot cocoa and humming. Jaime made a few before retiring to a video call with his family; Y/n couldn't find the right shape so she growled before giving up, and Dick happily made as many as he could alongside his girlfriend.

The next task was building gingerbread houses, which did not end as nicely as the snowflakes did. Garfield turned into a mouse and ate the houses from the inside out causing everyone to groan and retreat to their bedrooms but Kori was not giving up yet. Her last idea were gifts. Not knowing or understanding the whole idea of a fat man sneaking into your house in the middle of the night, the alien princess decided to have people draw names out of a hat and the person you drew was the person whom you had to give a gift. (Dick told her that was the Secret Santa but she ignored him and continued on.) And when it was time to pick, Y/n got the short straw. She drew the one and only Damian.

Y/n threw herself onto her bed, groaned into her pillow, and rolled onto her back. It had been a week since she got Damian's gift and her nerves had been building ever since. In the years they have known each other, Y/n have never gotten him a gift. The teen hero sat up and gazed at her drawer where the wrapped gift was hidden. A part of her wanted to give him the gift and get it over with, the other part wanted to find the nearest volcano and chuck it into the firey fits of lava. But she knew that wasn't allowed. Damn the holidays. She never enjoyed them, even after her adoption. To her the holidays were useless and a reminder of the times she was separated from the only family she had for so many years.

Closing her door behind her, Y/n moved to the kitchen where she was met with an almost too cheerful woman. Starfire was in her matching penguin pajama set, eating frosted cereal, and humming in delight.

"Good morning Y/n," she smiled, wiping a drop of milk from her mouth. "How did you sleep?"

Y/n pushed past her and reached into the cabinet to grab her daily (coffee/teabag) and readied hot water. "You need to soundproof your bedroom." Kori tilted her head and set her bowl down. She questioned why Y/n would tell her to do so. Said girl poured her drink and glared at the alien. "Because when you and Richard have sex, none of us get to sleep."

"Oh," Kori nodded. "I will talk to Dick then."

"Yeah you do that," Y/n turned around to sit at the island, Kori started up again.

"Maybe you should change into the pajama set I gave you last year? The others may find your sleepwear -"

Y/n set her mug down, "Might find my PJs what? It's an oversized tee I found in the laundry, boyshorts, and fuzzy socks. If anyone has a problem with that then they can suck a -"

"Y/n!"

Y/n rolled her eyes and stormed out of the room, in hopes of finding a nice empty living room. Needless to say, it was not. Dick sat there in an outfit matching his girlfriend's, watching a poorly animated movie about a reindeer. Y/n plopped down a few feet away from her best friend. She reached to grab the remote before it was swiped away by Garfield who dropped the remote onto Dick's lap, who then transformed into a cat and laid on the back of the couch. Y/n ground her teeth and sunk back into the couch.

Stupid  movie.

Dick caught onto her sour mood and looked at her. She ignored his eyes and picked at her nailbeds. Jaime joined by sitting at the end of the couch and observed the situation unfolding. The characters on the large screen began singing when Y/n asked if he could turn the volume down. Dick looked at her and clicked the "Volume Up" button.

Y/n growled and stood up. "Why the hell are you watching this? It's about a reindeer who gets outcasted for his mutation and then magically becomes popular because he was chosen to lead a flying sleigh!" She gestured to the television. "This condones bullying and tells viewers it has no consequence! The deer's parents don't do anything about it!"

Garfield purred and arched his back. "Damn, Y/n, chillax dude. You're too much of a babe to be this loud during the holidays."

This caused her to see red. Steam could practically be seen from her ears and her blood boiled. Her nails dug into her palms and her fists shook. Dick looked at the green boy and inhaled before moving over, closer to Jaime. Stomping over to the cat, she grabbed him by the nape of his neck and held him over her head. She stuck her nondominate hand out for aim. Gar started to panic.

"Y/n, Y/n, Y/n, I'm sorry!"

"Don't be, cats always land on their feet!" Extending her arm, the hero chucked her teammate across the large room and into the next. Loud crashing and a groan could be heard. Chuckling was heard from behind her which lead to her turning around. The laughing immediately stopped and the two Titans pointed at each other in hopes to take the blame off themselves.

Scoffing, Y/n turned to leave when she ran into something. Today was not Y/n's day.

Shit.

It was Damian. He wore his usual daytime outfit, along with his usual soft frown. He lowered his emerald eyes to look Y/n over. She was obviously angry, her hair was uneven meaning she hadn't brushed it yet, and her breathing was heavy.

"Hey," she poked his chest. "My eyes are up here."

"Can I get my shirt back?" He spoke, ignoring her comment.

Y/n stood up straight in confusion until she realized what he was referring to. The shirt she wore to bed last night. The shirt she was wearing with no undergarments, soft against her chest, was Damian's. Her face was dusted with a deep color. She cleared her throat and apologized. Trying to keep going, Y/n was stopped by her best friend calling out.

"Hey, look up."

Damian and Y/n looked up to see a small red collection of plants hung at the top of the door frame. Y/n's dusted face immediately turned to a deep dark hot color. She practically shoved Damian out of the way and ran to her room.

Stupid Richard.

She stomped to her bedroom and threw her pillow across the room in anger. The whole holidays sucked. Stupid movies, stupid couples, stupid traditions, and stupid presents. The thought of presents reminded her of the gift hidden away in her drawer. She opened the drawer and took the box. She fluffed the bow a little to liven the décor.

I should throw it into a volcano.

There was a knock on the door but it opened before she could answer. It was Damian and he seemed to have something behind his back. He closed the door and sat down next to her. He eyed the present and looked back at her.

"I know you don't like the holidays, but here," he held out a small gift bag. "I drew your name."

Y/n set the box down and took the bag. She opened it and took out the item inside. It was a crystal glass bottle with a champagne colored liquid inside. She opened the bottle and a lovely, enchanting aroma emitted from the bottle. It smelled like rain from the most secluded island on earth, filled with the most richest smells you would ever have the pleasure of smelling. It was perfume. Expensive perfume. Y/n quickly  capped the bottle and set it on her drawer, not wanting to damage the very pretty bottle.

Picking up the box, she handed it to the boy beside her. He carefully opened the wrapping and found himself starring at a black box. He opened the lip and saw a very nice luxury watch sitting perfectly centered in the container. It was a Breitling, so it was not cheap. It was mainly black with green accents and a smidge of gold. Damian took it out of its case to inspect it when he felt something on the back. He flipped it over and saw that Y/n had it engraved in Arabic.

'To Damian

So we don't lose anymore time.

With love,

Y/n'

Damian looked at Y/n, who was picking at her nails.

"It was stupid, I might be able to return it and get you another one -" he cut her off by pressing his lips to hers. Her eyes went wide before closing and pressing herself deeper into the kiss.

Damian pulled away, "Happy holidays, Y/n."

Y/n's eyes fluttered, "Happy holidays, Damian."

The boy quickly packed his watch and headed to the door before looking back. "You can keep the shirt."

Y/n exhaled and flopped down on her bed once more. She looked at the crystal bottle sitting on her nightstand.

Maybe the holidays aren't that bad.
