chapter 6: First Mission With Mercy, Mei and Tracer
As me and Tracer sat on the seat in front of this person in a mask's office, we both felt guilty.
"Soldier: 76, was it?" I asked. 76 looked at me. "What?" He asked. "Does the 76 notifies that it's your age?" I asked again.
I felt something cold on my forehead instantly. "Watch your words," 76 told me.
"You do know I can stop your bullet before it even reaches me," I challenged 76.
I saw that he was squinting his eyes through the goggles, as if he was not convinced.
"Potential energy. Stay in potential energy," I said out loud. When 76 pulled the trigger, no pain, still alive.
"What?!" 76 said, sounding shock. He examined his gun to check if it was broken.
"Change into kinetic energy," I said out, and the bullet flew straight out, shattering the window, as 76 was near the window.
He looked at me. "Am I qualified to be part of Overwatch?" I asked, leaning against the chair.
76 sat back down onto his seat. "I'll think about it," he replied to me, and I nodded.
"Meanwhile though, I have an assignment for you, Lena," 76 continued, pointing to Tracer.
"Yes?" She asked. "You will be going with Mercy on this. I want you three to prevent Talon to obtain the artifact in the Antarctic," he told her.
"Yes sir! Wait, you said 'three', not two," Tracer said, confused. Even I was confused.
"Xiura, you will be going with them," 76 told me. Xiura again?! Gosh, these guys don't really understand.
"Why me? Why not that Chinese girl that's technically looking at us?" I asked, pointing to the Chinese girl that seemed to be overhearing our conversation.
"I'm sorry!!" The girl said, bursting in. "It's okay, Mei," 76 told her.
"Okay. How about you come along with them? You do have knowledge about the Antarctic," 76 suggested.
I saw Mei having to be really excited, and nodded very quickly, it might make her head fall off.
"Okay. Off you go," 76 said, and us three obeyed, as we, as a trio, went out of the room.
"I'll meet up with Mercy. I'll tell her about our mission. While waiting, stay here, loves," Tracer told us, and she blinked away.
We both looked at each other in awkwardness. "I'm Liao Xiura," I introduced myself.
"I'm Mei Ling Zhou," she introduced herself. "Oh yeah. I'm not Chinese," I stated.
"You're not what?" She asked, now making a confused face. "Yeah. I'm not Chinese," I repeated.
"Then what is your ethnicity?" Mei asked me. "I dunno. My ID never confirmed it," I replied.
"Do you ask your parents?" She asked me. I remembered only silhouettes that left me when I was a baby.
"I can't be sure. My biological parents left me when I was a baby. I was taken in by a lonely Chinese couple, hence, my name. But I'm not Chinese, as I had stated before," I replied.
"What happened to your surrogate father and mother?" Mei asked me.
"Died. Not from anything that seemed serious. They just died from old age. They were 60 something years old, but can really lift several fill to the brim boxes in one go," I said.
