Don't Always Believe What They Tell

You once told me
to always clean up my place
so it would be a nice one
for others to visit.

You once told me
you're never to buisy
to help others out of their misery,
stand up for your own mistakes
cause they'll not vanish into space.

Anyway.
I was supposed to have what it takes.
To act human.
In a nice, an understanding kind of way.

But when I look at our race,
what we've done
to each other and this place
driving like crazy in a race
against unforgiving sand of time
straight towards our graveyard.
- I can't help but asking:
Are we evil?

And it's gone all this childhood bliss
the belief, that we'll somehow manage.
Long ago replaced by grief
drowned in rising seas,
burned in flames not only eating farms and wildlife but sky's too.
I can't help but wonder, what life will look like to me and you
when we're grown up,
supposed to have jobs, houses and maybe kids too.

Yes, they told us,
to stay calm.
To stay truthful and believe
they got everything under control
why actually they clearly don't.

Don't think I'll close my eyes
trust me
I won't.

What will we eat when all fish has been replaced by plastic
all farmland not only by dying soil but dry rocks and sand.
The change we need - it's drastic.

I'm honest with you:
I'm not sure whether it's a good idea to have kids in a world where all life is on the brink of getting extinct.
I'm not sure whether it's a good idea to buy a house in a world where one catastrophe is haunting the next and you don't know what will be left and where you might be forced to go to tomorrow.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to loose plenty of energy studying for a job to be one day working in a system that destroyed us, while right now it's the last chance to make amends and righten all the crimes we've committed to life on earth - Our only home in this vast and nasty universe.

Just have a think:

What will we breathe when all forests have been clear-cut?
What drink when all waters dried-up?

You told us be tidy
while drowning the whole world in mountains of plastic.
Told us to tell the truth,
while most politicians don't.
Told us listen to the educated
while you clearly won't.
Told us to act resonate and never hesitate to do what's right
just pushing a livable future out of sight.
Told us to be silent and trust you
though you sold our future - oh sorry. Taboo.

And now?
You're inheriting this world to us.
like your generation did from the generation before,
like they did from the generation before,
like they did from the generation before....
And we?
Maybe we won't be able to do this anymore.

We - the people living now on earth -
We're the last generation to save this world.
And we're not supposed to fail.

Cause even IPCC says we still got a chance of not going extinct
and thereby not only not suiciding
us humans
but nearly all life on earth too.

Wouldn't it be sad to see all this faint?
Just because we didn't manage to properly practice restraint?
We already know what's the problem.
We already know how to solve it.
Now all we need are people like you and me making this reality.

It means to rise up,
it means to stand up,
it means to truly clean up the mess we've made
and return a vital living nature to this world.

The truth is:
We're fuckt up
and we've fucked it up.
But it's still up to all of us to shape a future worth living in.
Start kicking.
Time is ticking.
