CH 18

 September 1999

I hadn't been summoned in weeks. Which gave me plenty of time to think.

If I really did see black around her fingers, that meant she was doing dark magic. With everything else I knew it was as if the answer was right in front I just didn't know.

Draco had just come back from work and was in the shower. I waited for him to finish and went and knocked on his door.

"Come in," he said. He was on his bed and I went and joined him. "What's wrong?"

"I was just wondering about something."

"Spill."

"Well I was reading a book about wizarding history and there's this person that did horrible things but no one knew how." He looked really confused.

"They would kill random people, muggles even, using the killing curse, and it was noted that in their possession were things like a pocket watch and a small picture frame. It also detailed how they had a blackness spread on their fingertips." He looked like he was in deep thought.

"That reminds me of something my father told me about years ago."

"What was it?"

"It was about Voldemort," he stated and kept thinking. "He mentioned these items that he used as parts of his soul or something. It's how he has survived. You had to take a soul in order to split yours, which is what he told me. I think that's all he said. Why do you think some other wizard has done that before?" I tried my best to act nonchalant.

"Maybe, that could be where Voldemort got the idea." I got up and headed for the door.

"Do you want me to make you dinner?" He asked.

"Um, no I'm okay." He deep breathed and once I left I ran to my room.

I quickly scribbled a letter.

I really need you.

It's important.

- D

I folded the letter and gave it to our owl telling it to send it to Michael.

I went back to my room and waited.

After what felt like years Michael appeared in my room. His hair was grown out long, and he had sunken eyes. I deep breathed. He had studied me up and down.

"Are you okay?"

"Physically yes, but I needed to ask you something and it may seem random but it's highly highly important." We sat on the edge of my bed.

"What is it?"

"I'll just explain it and if you know anything, tell me." He nodded. "It's dark magic, and it requires you to take a soul in order to split your own soul. Meaning one would have to murder someone and split their soul, placing this magic in an object so that they survive longer."

"Where is this from? Why do you know this?"

"Please, just humour me."

"Tell me something then," he pleaded.

"I can't, if I could I would tell you everything right now I promise you, but I really can't you have to believe me Michael." He closed his eyes as if in pain after I had said his name.

"Fine. What you were explaining is horcruxes." Everything fell into place.

"Thank you!" I hugged him quickly and he hugged me back. I stood up and faced him, realising I probably crossed a line. "Sorry." He didn't say anything, he just stood up and got out his wand.

"Eat something," he said and then he left.

I glanced at the time, I had 20 minutes until Flourish and blotts closed, so I put on shoes and left.

I went to the dark magic section, and found a book that talks about horcruxes. I cursed to myself as I forgot to bring money. I read through quickly.

Horcruxes are precious to the makers who created them. Therefore protective measures were made in order to prevent them from being stolen or destroyed... only the most powerful and potent elements... basilisk venom and fiendfyre... if  all Horcruxes were destroyed, the anchor that kept the maker bound to the living world would be gone, and the maker would be mortal and killable again.

I read it over and over.

So the little frame and the pocket watch are horcruxes and I can destroy them. If I destroy the Horcruxes I can kill her, because that's the only way I can live on. My sister has to die. The only problem was Voldemort, but if Morana dies he will go back into hiding. There's no one left for him.

Basilisk venom is impossible for me to come by as there hasn't been a basilisk in London for over 400 years. The only other thing was Fiendfyre.

I found a dark spells book and found the incantation and the wand movement for fiendfyre, memorising it. I then noted the countercurse so I didn't kill someone or myself in the process.

I quickly went home and jotted down everything so I wouldn't forget and I made a plan.

In order for me to destroy the Horcruxes I needed to get them from the Riddle Manor. But Morana would notice so I needed her to be distracted so that I could destroy them.

After I figured that out I can kill her. I knew I had the skill, I just needed the intent. I have to want to kill her. Which I do, I just had to make sure I had no remorse.

The dark magic of the fiendfyre curse and the killing curse would also affect me, but I had to do it. The side affects are worth it.
