Claw 5
~Leo~
When I got inside, I couldn't help staring. Not only at the surroundings, which were... incredibly high-tech and science-fictioney, but at the motley group of people that were standing around the common area, gathered at a glass table which also appeared to be a touchscreen.
First of all, they were all in their human forms, now. Duncan, the smaller, green dragon, was a tall, lanky young man with a head of sandy hair and a pair of brilliant aqua eyes. His sister was the apparent leader of the group, Fiona. I gathered that she had been the huge white dragon. She had long brown hair and emerald green eyes, and an oddly average build, considering her striking alternate form. Kerata stood on her other side, pointing at a building on the topographical map that they had spread out on the screen. She had been the horse, but now she appeared to be a white-blonde, long-limbed girl with crystal blue eyes. Then there was Raven, a middling-height girl with olive skin, black hair and dark amber eyes, which I found quite striking.
Last, but not least, the human, Dane. He seemed to be the most normal of the group, standing in the corner, operating a keyboard that was built into the side of the table. "I've got the entry point. The best way would be to fly directly in from the river, right here." He pointed at the side of a building labeled 'Union Station'.
"Or run." Kerata pointed out, her voice surprisingly soft compared to her horse form. She sounded more like the young girl that she was than when she was Changed. As a horse, she sounded more... tough. Yes, that's the word.
Just then, Duncan caught me staring at her. He moved protectively until he was almost touching her shoulder, staring at me in a way that told me that he wouldn't allow any interlopers. I didn't have any objections. I just smiled at him, which I knew would show off my long white fangs, and tuned back to the conversation.
"...but if there's more than one bomb, we will have warned them, and they could set off another explosion while we're still taking care of the first!" Raven's hands flashed pale on the bottoms as she gestured toward the other side of the warren of tunnels that represented the interior of the building that they seemed to be trying to save. I focused on the conversation.
"That's true..." Fiona squinted in thought, scratching her nose absentmindedly. "I guess we'll have to go in three separate groups. Duncan and Kerata, you enter from the southeast corner. Dane and I will take the northeast. Raven, you go ahead and go with Leo, and come from the southwest, inside the building. Find a way in and report on their location - we'll follow."
Before she was done speaking, swirls of light and color began to gather at the feet of my new comrades. I shook my mane as a horse, a wyvern, a raven and finally a dragon replaced the humans that had been there a moment before.
I gathered myself and followed as they all rushed up and out of the room, three of them exploding into the air, then, while I was still wondering how I was going to climb back down the side of the building, Fiona swooped in a huge arc, light still swirling through the air behind her like a comet trail as she Changed to become even larger. She approached the top of the tower, now the size of a small jet and still growing, and reached out talons longer than my forelegs, snatching up both me and Kerata on the way by, then dropped nearly straight down to the river, hovering to set us on the sidewalk on the edge, before shrinking down again, the white light glancing blindingly off the water below.
As soon as she landed, she began giving orders. "Alright, there are openings underneath the edge of the canal for those of us who can fly or run on water. Dane, I want you to stay outside and monitor the police, and let us know of any new developments. Don't get caught! Leo, Raven, you can go straight in through the riverside plaza entrance. Try to be as stealthy as you can. Keep a lookout for hostages or people who need your help! They're your priority, not getting the bad guys! That's our job. Me, Duncan, and Kerata will take the canal entrance, and see what we can find. Are we all clear?"
We all answered yes. She nodded her wedge-shaped head once, flashing sharp teeth in an alarming grin. "Awesome. Radios on? Good. Let's do this."
I took a deep breath as they wheeled away over the railing of the canal, before turning to face the glass double doors of the huge, monolithic station. Let's do this.
