Another World
TO ANOTHER WORLD
"There is always an end but in that end there is always a beginning"
War, human killing human, I've been fighting nonstop ever since that fateful day. I the child they called Rei. I was born into a world where war was the first thing that greeted me. I' am only twelve years old yet I have already taken so many lives. It was all I could do to survive. I was even nicknamed "the bloody reaper!" for I was always drenched in the blood of mine enemies.
Every day was nothing but battles my only companions where the twin blades my father and mother entrusted to me before their untimely demise. The pure black one handed sword "chaos" was my father's. The pure blue sword was "serenity" my mother's. They were made exactly alike except for their color. They were said to possess some special power that's why the military wanted them. My parents refused to hand them over for reasons unknown to me. So to save me and the swords, they made me hide in my secret place. They told me not to come out until I heard all the noise disappear. When everything ended the only one left alive was me.
I don't remember how it started, but before I knew it I was killing soldiers left and right. Not long after I became a proficient killer feared by many. I was not sure how I was able to, maybe it was the swords that brought out this strength within me. I was even able to create my own style of swordsmanship that has been sharpened by many near death encounters. It felt like it was in my blood, it felt so natural to wield the twin blades. So after every passing battle my senses began to sharpen into inhuman levels. I was able to sense and dodge bullets I could even deflect them and slice them using my swords. I could easily detect traps such as landmines. I was even able to accurately tell how many people where following and wanted to attack me as long as they were within a 30 meter radius.
Another day had come for me the boy called Rei. I had just finished my attack on another enemy base. I thought it was finished but then I noticed I was led into a trap. I was already surrounded by enemy helicopters and tanks, even more than that I was already completely exhausted. I sighed and started to laugh. So it finally came so this is the end. At last I can finally rest. I'll be able to see dad and mom again. Oh! Right I guess that won't be possible there probably in heaven. As for me I'll most likely go to hell. Well that's alright I' am to ashamed to meet them again. I sheathed my swords and raised my hands. They were about to fire when a sudden burst of light came down from heaven. The mysterious light enveloped me "What is this? A new weapon!" I shouted. The light didn't hurt at all in fact it was actually tender and warm. I closed my eyes and accepted it without resistance. I felt light for a second then the warmth left me. I opened my eyes and I was in a different place. I was still alive but I was somewhere I haven't been before. As I was pondering on what to do I smelled blood. I went toward the smell only to find men in armor being killed by giant ten foot pig like men. Only one man who looked like the commander of the battalion was still fending off the monstrosities. Yet even he was about to fall.
For some reason I felt compelled to rescue him. There were about five creatures that I could see. I unsheathed chaos and serenity and dashed forward. Before the creatures notice me I was able to strike down two of them. So they have the same anatomy as humans. The remaining two of three had given me their undivided attention. The man I was trying to save also notices my presence and shouted "boy get out of here." I was stunned for a moment; this was the first time since my parents' deaths that someone worried about me. Then I noticed a hammer was nearing my face I dodged it at the last moment before it made contact with my face. The hammer hit the ground and it shook. What strength but their movements were dull. I could dodge this kind of attacks even in my sleep. Enough of this farce it's time to finish them. I threw serenity at them it struck its neck. The next I cut its legs and the axe he was holding hit one of its companions. The last one tried to run off but I chased it down and finished it. I swung my twin blades until the fresh blood came off before I sheathed them.
I then aided the wounded man. While I was giving him first aid he said nothing he simply looked at me. But when I was finished he finally asked "who are you? No what are you?" I answered "I' am human and my name is Rei." "Rei? What is a boy like you doing here?" I then calmly explained what how I was transported here. The man looked shocked at my explanation well that is understandable. Even I'm still shocked and can hardly believe what had happened to me. After gasping for awhile the man then said "You, you're another worlder. The first after a thousand years the same as Gabriel lightbringer." " Another worlder? What is that? What do you mean?" the man chuckled. "I will explain it to you but not here let's talk at my house by the way my name is Richard, Thought you should know."
I followed Richard out of the forest and into a town. There and then did I finally accept I was in a different world. The town was enclosed by large fortresses of stone and at the center laid a castle. The streets where filled with merchants selling strange and exotic items, this where the kind of things one could only read in fantasy novels, Flaming swords, sleeping potions, floating orbs, and such. As me and Richard walked through town people kept on staring at me, It must be because I was wearing ragtag black jeans and a tattered black coat. Also a ten year old boy carrying twin blades accompanied by a knight commander is probably the strangest thing they saw today. I then noticed that we were heading to the castle.
"Hey why are we heading toward the castle?"
"Well that's because I need to report what happened on my mission."
"Oi, are you sure about that? Reporting about what I did might be troublesome."
"Worry not. I know what to say trust me."
Richard let out a wide grin in his face. Well whatever happened will happen. I might as well deal with it when it comes.
We entered the castle and headed to a great hall. At the far end of the hall. There sat a man who had a bear like figure. He was wearing a crown. So then this must mean he is the king, ha first time I saw one. Well a measly child soldier has no right to meet anyone this high in society. Richard knelt in front of the king and so did I. he had a stern face. Richard then spoke in loud and clear voice.
"I have returned your highness." The king stood up from his throne and was looking down on Richard with a smile. "Welcome back Richard! So tell me how it went. Where you able to do what I requested?" Richard's face went grim and he answered the king "I was able to do what your majesty requested. But while on my return to the castle I and my men encountered skiels seven of them." The king reacted violently he shouted " Skeils! Near here? Then that means he is approaching. Will it be a year perhaps or maybe longer but now we know he is approaching. So what happened Richard seeing that you are here means you have killed the skeils. How many of your men where lost?"
Richard had a heavy look upon his face before answering "All fifty of my men are dead in exchange of five skeils, then when I was cornered by the two remaining skeils. I was saved by the boy over there."
Richard pointed at me. The king looked surprised and stared at me intently. The king then looked at Richard with doubt.
"Are you trying to fool me Richard?! How can a child who looks no older than my eleven year old daughter, kill those giant monstrosities?" "I would never fool you my liege. Though he looks like that his skills with the sword are unbelievable." "Then prove it to me." The king signaled one of the knights to come near him. He whispered something to the knight afterwards the knight bowed and left. The king then looked at Richard once more and said with a voice that echoed through the hall.
"If the child really did what you claim. Then he should be able to beat two of the bloodless."
The bloodless? What could that be? Some other kind of monster? As I was thinking I saw Richard's face turn pale. He then spoke with a tinge of anxiety in his voice.
"Your highness why must we do this to let a child face, a bloodless, and not just one but two! Do my words mean nothing to his highness? Does his highness not trust me?"
The king's face grew harder as he answered.
"I would really like to believe your words Richard. But this is too much. If what you say is true it affects the honor of every knight in this kingdom of knights. To have such a small child be stronger than a third of the knights in this kingdom. It will shame them to no end if we do not test this child. You need not worry if what you say is true. This boy should not have a problem with facing the bloodless. Or is what you say truly a jest?"
Richard sighed and answered.
"As you wish your highness, the boy shall fight the bloodless."
The king nodded and seated on his throne once more. Richard then approached me and said.
"So there you have it Rei as my king stated you are to fight the bloodless. I' am deeply sorry that it turned out this way. Even though you saved me and I promised that nothing could go wrong this happens. I'm sorry that you have to go through this."
I smiled at him he truly was a kind man.
"Well if you told the truth it might have turned much worse. I' am the one who should say sorry. For you to lie to your king because me, I apologize. So tell me Richard what is the bloodless?"
"The bloodless are the elite knights of this kingdom Regon. To become one of the bloodless you must at least be able to fight and win against a hundred knights. Upon entry they are then trained to master one weapon of their choice. Most of the bloodless can't use any other weapon except their chosen weapons. But their sheer ability in using that one weapon removes any disadvantage."
Truly this bloodless are elites. For some reason I felt excited. This is the first time I felt excited to fight. I wonder why I feel this way.
The king stood up now showing his muscular stature he was tall but not what you call towering just a little above average you could see trough the little skin exposure that he had numerous scars. So his one of those so called warrior kings, the king spoke "Oh there you are Adel and Rika."
There entered two people a man and a woman. The man was of average height probably 5 feet and 8 inches. His body frame looked slender compared to the king but it was well built. His face had many scars but even with those scars one would notice that he was an exceptionally handsome man. At his waist was an extremely slender scabbard of a ridiculously long sword. The woman was clearly beautiful fair white skin as if porcelain, silky black hair that flowed as if alive itself, gorgeous red eyes that were like flowing blood, a body that had voluptuous curves. She was petite about or barely 5'0 feet. Yet her weapon was the complete opposite. Her weapon was extremely large in body it was wider and taller than it was about 5 feet and 5 inches. Ho the hell can such a girl carry such a uselessly huge weapon. Carrying something like that seems like a pain can she really use it in battle?
As I was analyzing my opponents I saw Richard face had gone paler than before if that was even possible.
"Hey Richard, are you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost."
His voice was filled with anxiety as he answered "Rei, you must forfeit now! We need to apologize to the king and ask to stop the duel!"
I was shocked at what I heard so I move closer to Richard.
"What the! What the hell are you saying! We already accepted the duel. I will not run as long as an opponent faces me. I promised on that day! The day my parents died! I would never run away again! Even if death stares me at the face, even if the devil himself was my opponent I would never run away again!"
Richard looked a little angry and at the same time he seems to be panicking. With a harsh tone he said.
"Throw away that useless pride Rei! Those two are not opponents you can beat. Those two are the commander and vice-commander of the bloodless. That husband and wife are one of the strongest here in the kingdom. Unlike normal bloodless these two can defeat not only a hundred knights but a thousand. It's better for you to surrender than to lose your life in a duel such as this."
I sighed and chuckled at Richard's worry. So I answered in a confident manner.
"It's alright Richard, though I'm still a child. I' am also a warrior to some extent. This is a good chance for me to see where my limits lie."
"You really are a strange kid... do what you will"
The king pointed toward me
"That boy over there will be your opponent."
The bloodless smiling faces disappeared
"My liege we are of the bloodless. Not some babysitters. We came here to fight a worthy opponent not to play with some brat."
Adel from the bloodless said with an icy voice. I stepped forward and said
"Sir Knight I' am sorry if my presence is a disappointment to you, but please do not judge me so quickly. Let not our mouths speak, but let our blades do the talking."
I drew my twin blades and stood there smiling at the man named Adel. He glared back at me and drew his sword. The king laughed
"It would seem that both of you are ready so without delay let us begin this fight."
Everyone in the room moved a step backwards. Except for the woman named Rika. She stood near me and Adel. She seems to have no intention to of backing off. Without warning while I was looking at Rika a sword thrust came from my left side. I dodge it by a hairs breadth.
"Don't look down on me brat! If you have don't focus on our fight, I might actually kill you!"
Adel shouted as he started to attack aggressively. Even though he seemed to be in a rage, his attack pattern was breathtakingly beautiful. A sword thrust followed by a smooth upward slash then a downward cut followed by a spinning kick. I was captivated by his dance like moves. I didn't feel like retaliating at all. But this has got to end at some point. So after he swung his sword down I used the brief moment before he could follow up his attack I immediately close the gap between me and him. He was about to react but I was a step faster my blade was already by his neck. I didn't go all the way like usual because I wasn't fighting to kill him. This was the first time I haven't killed an opponent. It felt lighter and relieving. Adel looked at me and sighed.
"Are you truly human? Wrong question are you truly just a child?.. Well we can talk later. For now let me say I surrender. Now that you have defeated me the sub-commander of the bloodless, your next opponent would be my wife the commander."
What? This guy wasn't the commander!
"Oh yeah kid. Fair warning unlike me my wife is on a whole other level."
The woman Rika approached me but before that I heard the words she whispered to her husband.
"Dear... Later there is a punishment waiting for you."
Her voice was full of delight as she said that to her husband. I already met many people like this a sadist. Why do almost all the commanders I meet turn out to be like this? Only few were like Richard normal commanders.
Rika giggled in front of me, as she drew her large sword.
"Your pretty amazing boy, why don't you join the bloodless after this?"
"I might think about it. But still how can a pretty lady like you be so strong?"
"A better question boy is how come a kid like you has so much skill?"
"Well our blades might be able to answer those questions."
"WELL SAID BOY!"
Rika charged forward. What speed it was almost like instantaneous movement. As if weightless she swung her sword upward. I was too startled to dodge so I blocked it with both my swords. I knew the impact would be great so as it made contact I instinctively jumped backwards. The strength of the swing was greater than I expected. Because even with my backward jump I wasn't suppose to be flying. Amongst the crowd I heard someone say that it was over.
"No not by a long shot." I mumbled to myself.
I did a somersault in mid-air and landed quite a distance from Rika.
Rika started laughing and said,
"You really are something boy. It's been a long time since I felt this much ecstasy. The last time was when I entered the bloodless as a trainee."
Without warning Rika threw her large sword. It was aimed at my head and was heading toward me at such a blinding speed. I barely dodged it, was she really trying to kill me?"
"I knew you would be able to doge boy, I had faith in your capabilities."
She was already beside me? What inhuman strength and speed. She then started to release a barrage of punches and kicks. I could barely dodge them. She was faster than me. But then I realized something. She was indeed faster and most assuredly stronger, yet why couldn't she land a hit? The reason was because she had no technique. She just wildly tried to hit me, that made it obvious were she would strike next. Well with this much raw ability, she really wouldn't need to learn any proper fighting techniques. With this there is still some hope in winning. I backed away and dropped my twin blades. Rika looked annoyed.
"WHAT? ARE YOU GIVING UP BOY! THAT'S UNACCEPTABLE! SHOW ME MORE. LET ME ENJOY THIS MORE!"
I smiled and answered.
"I have no intention of giving up; I just wanted to fight you with my bare hands."
Rika trembled and started laughing again.
"Oh yeah, THAT'S THE WAY BOY! Your audacity is delicious! Mind if I eat you whole?"
She as usual charged with full power, but now I could follow her movements. This is my one and only chance. I dodged her strike and got behind her because she was only 4 inches taller than me. I was able to put her in a headlock. She resisted a little but after a few seconds she smiled and fell unconscious.
Everyone looked in awe. Nobody moved except Adel who rushed to his wife's side.
"Rika can you hear me?!"
"Your being noisy idiot I'm trying to rest here. Oh! And don't think you can escape your punishment just because I lost."
"Y-yeah the thought didn't even cross my mind."
How tough can she be? She was actually able to regain consciousness after a few seconds, what a monster.
I smiled at her and said.
"That was a good fight Mrs. Rika"
"Heh, you were incredible boy, but don't call me Mrs. Rika. Just Rika is fine. You have the right to call me that seeing as you have bested me and my husband."
I nodded in agreement.
"Then Rika, thank you for going easy one me."
Adel was shocked at what he heard.
"You weren't serious Rika?"
Rika stared at me as if re-evaluating me.
"Are you really a kid?"
"Yup I' am twelve years old."
"The same age as my daughter no less. You're really incredible boy! You even saw through me. How did you know I was going easy on you? Even my husband didn't notice."
