Chapter 3

His deep brown eyes met with the annoyed woman and he smiled questioningly as he began wandering towards her and the girl she was holding down on the bench.

"Haven't you left yet?" she quickly muttered, a small smile appearing on her mouth.

"No I'm waiting for my-"

"Great can you watch Ji-eun for a moment. I don't want to leave her alone in this state" she interrupted, shifting away from him slightly.

The boy's eyes switched to the drunken girl who was slouching on the bench, watching the pair with delight.

"AHH it's Chanyeol" she sputtered, giggling frantically as Lohee ran inside and he placed himself next to her on the bench.

Chanyeol chuckled in response as the girl 's head fell onto the wall and they sat in silence for a moment watching the passing cars.

"How drunk are you?" he laughed, pulling her head away from the cold surface and onto his shoulder.

"Of course not! I- am- great..feeling fine in fact" she slurred, dragging her words on and on.

"Oh so this isn't you dru-?"

"OII! Park Chanyeol" she suddenly yelled through the darkness, aggressively turning towards him and pointing a wobbling finger at his face.

"Yes?" he replied in shock and curiosity.

"How old are you again?" she muttered, lifting her head to meet the actor's eyes.

"25" he answered, giving her a questioning glance and grabbing her hand as she tried to poke him on the forehead.

"See! He's not that much older than me?" she shouted, chuckling to herself like a crazed hyena.

"And why does my age matter?" he asked, smiling in amusement at the drunken girl.

Ji-eun stared at his face for a moment, examining his features. Her heart began beating harder in her chest as she reached his bright smile looking down at her, feeling the familiar swell of nervousness build up inside her chest.

"It's this" she mumbles softly, tiredly grinning at him with a look of glee.

"This?" He answered, staring down at her with kind eyes and still grasping her hand as he placed it by her side.

"Why do you do this to me?" she asked accusingly, immediately pointing her finger accusingly at his once again and placing a childish pout on her face.

He chuckled. "Doing what exactly?"

"Why do you keep messing with my heart!" She yelled into the darkness, breaking through the quiet of the early hours.

They slowly drifted into silence again as Chanyeol's shoulder stiffened. He straightened his back and breathed deeply as he turned to face the girl properly, the smile gone from his face.

"Do you~ like me?" He asked seriously, face darkening with each word that left his mouth.

She stared into his eyes, unknowing of his sudden change and slowly nodded her head as a bright smile appeared on her lips. His face stayed stern as he thought for a moment and then he moved across the bench, her head dropping from his shoulder.

Ji-eun looked up in dizziness and confusion, watching as he turned towards her again and stretched out his arms, placing a hand on each shoulder.

"Ji-eun..." he whispered, pausing for a moment before continuing.

"Yeah" she giggled as he held the leather material of her jacket and lightly turned her body towards him.

"You don't really like me. It's jus-" he mumbled.

"I do like you!!" she interrupted, pulling away from his grip and giving him a look of despair.

He returned a short glance in her direction, forcing her to look at him as the wind blew violently around them, making the atmosphere even colder.

"This is common for rookie actors. You've gotten into your role too much and you're mistaking me for Junhee" he announced, giving her a quick nod.

"But-" she tried but he interrupted her this time.

"I'm being serious. You can't like me Ji-eun.. it's just your mind tricking you" he interrupted coldly, refusing to listen to her words.

"But I really like you" she replied, a firm frown appearing on her face as her eyes began to tear up.

He stared at her face for a moment and reached out, wiping them away with a deep sigh.

"Once the dramas over it will all be much clearer. Just trust me. It's not worth crying over" he mumbled, patting her shoulder sympathetically.

They sat in silence for a moment, the sharp wind hitting Ji-eun like daggers.

Chanyeol looked at his phone for a moment and glanced towards the restaurant doors. His ringtone filled the silence and his arm dropped from her shoulder as he answered the call.

"Yeah I'm just outside. I'll be there in a few minutes. I'm busy" he declared, switching his eyes to the girl as he placed his phone back in his pocket.

As the restaurant doors opened the cheers from inside flew to the bench and the short figure of Lohee appeared in the doorway, tugging Ji-eun's bag over her shoulder.

"I better go. Get home safely and forget about this" Chanyeol muttered, immediately standing and walking away without another glance in her direction.

Lohee stood chattering in the doorway for a moment and Ji-eun screwed herself into a ball on the bench, trying to defend herself from the sudden coldness which rushed across her body.

Her eyes were pricked with tears and as his shadow disappeared around the corner they began falling from her face. She let out a muffled yelp as she searched for air and a dark shadow loomed above her head, placing a hand on her shoulder in worry.

"What happened?" Lohee muttered, gasping in shock when she met with the bright red eyes of the actress. Ji-eun didn't respond but was definitely much more sober since she'd last seen her manager.

After a few more moments the van pulled up in front of her and she was rushed inside once more, staring out the window in silence whole drive home, the feeling of rejection weighing heavily on her heart.
