Chapter 12
Ji-eun glanced down once again at the denim jacket which swamped her frame, thankful for the protection as she felt another gust of wind rush past her legs. Sehun walked ahead of her and a small smile appeared on her face as he chatted animatedly with one of the assistant directors, thankful he no longer seemed too guilty about the airport fiasco.
Behind she could hear the heavy footsteps of the crew, all seemingly exhausted from hauling their heavy equipment around all day and she glanced quickly at them as she recognised the excited ramble of the director following the group down the dimly lit street.
"Hopefully we will be finished by the end of the week. Maybe you'll even have a day off to see some sights" he chattered happily. Ji-eun grinned to herself, focusing on the cobbled pavement beneath her feet as she heard a quiet chuckle respond to the man. The deep voice startled her as he jokingly replied "I'll make sure to work extra hard then" and Ji-eun walked more rapidly as they turned the corner, telling herself she needed to get back to the hotel quickly and get some proper sleep.
After a while, everyone had filled the hotel lobby which was sparkling with fairy lights and still busy with people enjoying the evening. A few stopped at the entrance to the bar, looking questioningly at the staff who rushed back to their rooms but seeming not to recognise Ji-eun. She sighed in exhaustion, grateful that she wouldn't have to force conversation with anyone and said goodnight to Sehun, telling him to go enjoy himself with the rest of the staff while she got an early night. He gave her a concerned glance but she waved him away tiredly, pressing the button for the elevator.
Her feet ached where her sandals had been rubbing and she unbuckled the shoes, peeking at the broken skin on her heel and staring as the number above the lift lowered and she lethargically stumbled inside. As she stepped in she peeled the shoes from her feet, wincing slightly before relaxing into the grey carpet as she reached for the button of her floor.
"Wait a second" a voice yelled and an intruding figure joined her in the lift, nodding his head in recognition and then looking down at her bare feet in confusion as a smirk appeared on his lips. The pair waited in silence and Ji-eun moved her feet uncomfortably, wincing with awkwardness while she waited for him to speak again. He coughed, seemingly amused and Ji-Eun quietly gasped as a bell sounded and the heavy doors of the elevator began to open, trying to get away before he spoke.
"Wait, Ji-eun!" he yelled behind her as she entered the hallway, watching her back as she rushed towards her room. Her shoulders sagged at his words and she quickly swiveled her face towards him.
"My feet are blistered!" she yelled through the deserted hallway, watching as his eyes widened in amused shock at her sudden outburst.
He didn't answer for a moment and the pair simply stared at each other, with Ji-eun reeling from the embarrassment of her words.
After a few seconds, Chanyeol looked back at up, trying to hide his grin and reached his arm out towards her.
"I was just going to ask for my jacket" he chuckled, watching as she looked down for a moment at the thick material which was still resting on her shoulders. In one swift motion, she ripped it from her arms and threw it in his direction, quickly turning back to her room as she raced down the hallway.
"Goodnight" he chimed in amusement.

The next morning, Ji-eun awoke due to the rumbling to her empty stomach and quickly changed into a summer dress to search for some food. Above her, she could hear the rushed footsteps of other people and she quickly stumbled to her door, giving her a reflection a glance of approval in the mirror as she left.
She jumped back slightly at the thud which sounded as she pulled on the door handle, peeking at the other side where a blue plastic bag was waiting on the carpeted floor. Ji-eun picked it up warily and glanced inside. A quiet gasp escaped as she recognised some ointment and plasters at the botttom of the bag and she pulled them out with a small smile, turning back to her bedroom.

After applying the ointment to her heels she finally wandered downstairs, placing herself on a navy chair in the corner of the restaurant with a coffee and some food in hand. Despite the present, she was still embarrassed about her late night interaction, so she tried to shield herself from Chanyeol's gaze. It wasn't exactly hard considering he constantly had someone chattering at his side, but she thought it'd be safer nonetheless. She observed as he interacted with the crew, picking at the blueberries in her bowl as she watched him flash them a wide grin.
After a while, she could hear the busy footsteps of people rushing to collect their gear for the day but she remained at the edge of the room, waiting for them all to leave and focusing on her food.
After removing the last blueberry from her dish, she heard the noise of excited chatter getting closer and looked up to the director with a tall, tanned actor beside him.
"Ahh she's hiding over here" he joked and Ji-eun lifted her head to peek again as the guy let out an amused chuckle.
"Ji-eun this is Kim Jongin. He arrived last night and I just wanted to get you familiar with each other before your scene today" the director rambled with the same forced grin that he always had.
Ji-eun focused on the man beside him, greeting him with a small smile and noticed his eyes crinkle as he returned her greeting.
"Yes, I think I recognise him from the script reading" she replied, reaching out her hand politely for them to formally greet each other.
He quickly grasped her hand in his, widening his grin and muttering a happy greeting as he maintained his tight grip.
"It's great to meet you" he uttered, "I'll talk to you more later" he assured as he was dragged away by a restless arm to meet a few of the other actors.
________
"So you're sure you don't need anything else?" Sehun questioned, taking the script from Ji-eun's hand which she had scrawled all over in black pen marks.
"Yes I'm all good" she chimed, taking a minute to enjoy the warmth of the sun on her arms. She'd been dressed in a lilac two-piece, the skirt fluttering against her pale legs in the breeze and she watched as everyone made the last-minute adjustments to the scene.
The director had already been over to discuss the scene but she was too happy about the sudden disappearance of her co-star to pay proper attention to his words.
As everyone began to quieten down she walked over to a striped beach towel which was pressed against the sand, flicking her sunglasses over her face and positioning herself as she waited for the scene to begin.
Mina leaned back in the Hawaiian sunlight, adjusting a few strands of hair that had fallen onto her face as she relaxed into the sandy floor.
The excited yells of families filled her ears and she grinned, observing a few of the children as they splashed the waves at their parents and ran across the sandy floor, happily screaming as they sprinted to avoid their grasp.
She grabbed her phone, scrolling contently through her social media, only looking away as the distressed yell of a male voice disrupted her thoughts. She peeked over the top of her phone to find the caller, but by the time she had dropped the phone onto her lap, it was too late and a solid object smacked against her forehead, smashing her new sunglasses into her nose with a loud crunch.
Within moments, a dark-haired boy, seemingly a similar age to her was at her side. He was wearing only a thin white vest and a pair of green swimming trunks and she tried to focus on his concerned words as he stood beside her. He looked down at her with a pained expression as she sat up, rubbing the bridge of her nose as she removed the pair of sunglasses from her face.
A frustrated sigh escaped as she looked at the cracked lens of the glasses she'd bought only a few days before and she threw them onto the pale sand beside her.
"I'm so sorry" the guy muttered apologetically, grabbing the striped volleyball which was laying on the sand beside her and resting a hand on her shoulder to observe the damage. The pair both stared at each other for a moment, him looking at her injuries but Mina studying his worried face.
"I'll be right back" he yelled and she silently nodded as he sprinted across the beach, kicking up sand as he moved.
"Okay that was great" the director declared. "If we could just film the last part from another angle it'll be perfect" he yelled excitedly but looked down at Ji-eun for a moment.
"Could you try to look more entranced for the close-up? She's meant to be deeply interested in this mysterious stranger" he exclaimed, giving her a quick grin before rushing to speak to some of the assistants.
________
Ji-eun spent their rest of the morning filming with Jongin and between takes they chatted animatedly about their careers, complimenting each other on their previous work and practicing volleyball for the scenes later on. She desperately tried to improve, but she was hopeless when it came to sports and couldn't help but feel anxious about messing up the scene.
After a few hours, she couldn't help but notice as Chanyeol arrived, rolling up the sleeves of his fitted shirt and dropping into an old deck chair at the edge of the sand to observe their scene. She muttered in annoyance to herself as he peered at her from his seat, suddenly even more embarrassed of her mediocre skills.
As they filmed the volleyball game she could feel his eyes burning into her side, watching as she ran across the sand and high-fived Jongin. She tried her best to ignore it, focusing instead on maintaining her eyes on the ball, but between takes she couldn't help but glance to where he was seated, briefly meeting his dark stare from across the sand. Thankfully, Jongin managed to cover up for most of her mistakes and it only took several takes for them to get enough footage.
Eventually, it was time for the three of them to act together and Jongin greeted Chanyeol excitedly, only receiving a tiny smile from the actor before his face dropped to its former expression. Ji-eun tried to avoid his gaze still embarrassed about their last interaction and played with the sand at her feet.
"You two look like you were enjoying yourselves" Chanyeol grumbled and Ji-eun looked up to meet his eyes for a moment, noticing as they met with Jongin's and he refused to break away.
"Yeah, it got pretty boring waiting for them to adjust the cameras so I suggested we had some fun while we waited" Jongin replied cooly, nudging Ji-eun's shoulder playfully. She flashed a quick smile in his direction before looking back at Chanyeol.
She was sure a look of frustration washed over it but it was quickly replaced by a blank expression which she couldn't read and he silently gave them a small nod before turning away to check on the crew.
"What's with him" Jongin whispered, leaning over to speak in her ear. "Is there something between you or something?"
"Not that I know of" Ji-eun answered defensively, giving him a look of reassurance before throwing the ball at his chest.
Jongin turned his gaze back to Chanyeol and let out a small laugh. He simply shrugged his shoulders and flashed a smug grin as Ji-eun looked up at him, before wandering away in the direction Chanyeol had left only a moment earlier.
