The Favorite Character's Turn
*Sonic's Dream POV*
Blinds were closed, no light shining through the old house. Why? Well, inside was a freak. A hedgehog with pupiless eyes. He was locked inside the darkness of that house.
He was young, and he oh so desperately wanted to leave.
"Carla?" The young hedgehog turned to his older sister, who actually looked normal.
"Yes, Dark?" She looked away from what she was writing.
"When can I go outside with the other kids?"
The sky blue hedgehog froze, her emerald eyes glancing to the window, where the noise of kids happily playing was coming from. She looked back to her little brother with a gentle smile. "You can't go out there, Bijou."
"Why not?" He pouted, crawling up onto her lap.
"It's dangerous out there for you." Carla smiled, holding the child close. "People tend harm what they think is different."
"Am I different?"
"Yes, but that isn't bad."
"Oh...."
Carla sighed. "Dark, you must promise me that you will never leave this house, okay?"
"Okay, Carla. I promise." Dark nodded, his upturned quills swaying with the movement.
The young adult smiled before kissing the top of the young one's head and telling him to go to bed, for the sun was setting. The other obeyed, walking up stairs and leaving Carla alone with her journal. "Goodnight, Bijou...."

"C-Carla?"
"Stay in your room!" The young hedgehog cowered as the sounds of gunshots and shouting were heard.
"Kill the freak!"
He didn't mean to....
It was just a small peek out the window and an eye lock with a girl on the outside....
Now everyone in their small town was banging against the house, shooting through the windows and making chaos.
He curled up more under his bed as he heard his front door fall. They had entered the house. He heard Carla shout before more gunshot noises were fired.
He couldn't hear his sister anymore.
Silence ensued for what felt like forever until his door was opened. He didn't move, but glanced at the feet coming through the door.
They weren't his sister's.
They were unfamiliar and strange. More followed behind the first and soon enough, his room was torn apart. Nobody looked under the bed though, and the hedgehog did not make a sound.
"It must've jumped out the window. It's open." One of them said, his voice gruff.
"We have to find it, then." Another said.
"Yes, sir, but..." There was a pause. "What about the girl?"
"Leave her here to rot. That's what she gets for aiding a demon."
There was silence before all of the feet left, and the entire house was still. It was only an hour after that the young one crawled out of his hiding place. C-Carla?"
Slowly, Dark made his way downstairs, eyes wide as he saw his sister lying there, her light blue fur covered with crimson red. "Carla!"
He fell to her side, tears cascading down his muzzle. She didn't move, didn't even breathe, her emerald eyes clouded and her mouth hung open. He sobbed, pulling her close with his small arms, staining his gloves and fur with the dark substance.

He buried her under the house.
He was a fully grown adult, but the people that killed his sister never came back.
And he never left his house.
It was lonely most times, and he often found himself staring longingly at the blinds before the flashback of that day returned and he had to look away.
It was painful, living alone as a freak.
It was his fault that his sister was killed.
He was a freak.
A demon.
He never deserved any love or kindness.
That's why he scared away anyone who dared to walk into the house.

It was one strange day that a knock was heard at his door.
He didn't answer it, of course, but it was still strange nonetheless.
It was about five minutes of silence before the door swung open and a boy walked in. His crimson fur radiated warmth, and his emerald green eyes brought a feeling of comfort to the dark being. He watched as the boy slowly closed the door and walked in, looking around the dust old room. Dark couldn't bring himself to go out of the shadows and scare him away. He was just so comforting and inviting.
"Hello?" his timid voice echoed throughout the house as he seemed to hide more into his giant hoodie. Dark didn't answer him back, in shock of how this boy was speaking.
"I-I heard this house was haunted...." emerald eyes darted to all the dark shadows of the room, missing Dark, who was standing in a particularly dark corner. "I'm sorry if I'm intruding on anyone's ground, but I need a place to hide for the night."
"Hide?" Dark finally spoke up, causing the mortal to jump. "Why do you need to hide? And here of all places?"
"U-Um... W-Well...." The hedgehog stuttered out before taking a deep breath and calming himself. "You, see, there are these guys that are chasing me, a-and they won't stop. I heard that no one goes in here, so I thought I'd hide here...."
Dark felt something. Something that wouldn't let him kick the boy out. "Why are they chasing you?"
"People tend to harm what they thing is different."
His eyes widened as that phrase was spoken. It was silent before he finally spoke up again. "As long as you don't try to kill me, I'll let you stay."
"Kill you? But aren't you a ghost? I-I heard the ghost of a demon child hung around here.... Am I wrong?"
"Not completely, no...." Dark muttered. "Just that the 'demon child' isn't dead."
"W-What....?" The mortal trailed off as Dark stepped out, his pupiless eyes locking with the others emerald green. "Y-You're the one from the stories!?"
Dark started cowering as the others voice rose, memories of hiding under his bed, trying to block out the shouting, coming back. "D-Don't hurt me! Please!"
Silence.
Dark's fear rose.
More silence.
Then, the gentle touch of a hand on his shoulder. He looked up.
"Hey, it's okay." The bright smile of the other instantly made a weird feeling arise in his stomach. "I won't hurt you."
"B-But I-I'm a demon...."
"You don't seem like the storybook ones. You seem really nice."
For some reason, heat flooded the dark being's muzzle as he looked away, muttering a thank you.
"No, problem. Besides, I'd be kind of a hypocrite trying to hurt you when I was just chased by group of bullies because I'm a little different."
"Why do people think you're different?"
It was a simple enough question that was just answered with the avoidance of eyes and a simple, "It's nothing...."
Dark just sighed. "You can stay as long as you want.... Just stay away from the spot with the journal and vase."
"Thank you. By the way, I never caught your name?"
"Oh.... I-I'm Dark...."
"Nice to meet you, Dark. I'm Gray."

"Gray?"
"Yes?"
"Thank you for coming back all of these times...."
"Hey, you're my friend. Of course I'd come back."
Dark smiled. It had been a few years since Gray walked through the door. Over that time, they developed a strong bond with each other. Gray knew his entire story now. He figured it was time that he knew Gray's.
"Gray?"
"Yeah?"
"Why do people mistreat you?"
Silence entered between them quickly, Gray frozen and Dark waiting patiently. It seemed to be forever until Gray finally spoke up again.
"Do you really want to know...?" Dark nodded. Gray sighed before looking to his friend.
"I was a girl when I was born...."
"What....?" Dark tilted his head, more curious than surprised.
"I just didn't feel right as Grace.... When I changed, everybody hated me. I was never even able to get surgery to change my appearance because nobody accepted me.... That's why I always wear these baggy clothes...." Gray looked down, sniffling slightly.
Dark instantly went to comfort his friend. "There's nothing wrong with you, Gray. If you don't feel comfortable with yourself, then you should be able to change if you want to."
"You're the only one who understands...."
Dark somehow found himself holding the other tightly, his lips on the others. Gray stared at him, eyes wide before quickly kissing him back. When they pulled away, Dark interrupted his questioning eyes with "I'll always be here to understand you, Gray...."

Dating someone was a whole new adventure in itself. Neither knew what they were doing, but they tried anyway.
One day though....
"Dark, I have something really important to tell you...."
"Well, what is it?"
"Um.... Y-You know how I haven't been able to have any types of surgery yet, right?"
"Yeah...."
"Well, that means that my body is still a girl's...."
"Yes, I realize that."
"So I could get pregnant."
Suddenly, Dark's eyes widened. "You don't mean...."
Gray simply nodded. Dark eventually erupted into a wide, excited grin. "We're having a child...."

Dark never got to see his child.
The people of the town found out about the demon in the abandoned house.
And Gray was on a small trip.
He came back to see the house he met his love in turned to ashes.
And the newspaper reading that the demon was dead.

A little back story for most of you guy's favorite character :p
Carla nicknamed Dark Bejou, which is an English name derived from the French word bijou, meaning "jewel."
She called him that because he was really special to her and all that sappy sibling has to hide younger sibling stuff ^_^
Anyways, hope you all liked it!
