*Sonic's POV*

Beep... Beep... Beep...

That's basically the only thing I've heard for weeks besides the few visitors and doctors that enter the room. That didn't really matter though... The only thing that did matter was the unconscious body laying on the hospital bed.

Shadow the Hedgehog...

My love...

No words could describe the feelings I've been having the past few weeks...

Happy that I'm still alive, excited that he loves me back, sad that I haven't been able to see my love...

But one feeling was always apparent...

Fear that I'll never be able to see those gorgeous ruby eyes again...

Shadow's breathing was soft, slow. If it wasn't for the many wires hooked up to him, then he'd look like he was sleeping.

Yet I always knew that he was dying. Those eyes haven't opened for weeks now, and all I can really think about is why he saved me.

"I love you, Sonic..."

Those words echoed in my head. They are the last words he said to me before I died...

Now, I'm alive again, but I'm suffering with a broken heart, seeing my love like this everyday...

My drained emerald eyes searched for any movement that my love might make. I haven't slept well since that day, and I fear that I never will get a good night's sleep again...

"Mister Hedgehog?" A gentle voice asked, the door opening.

"Yes? What is it, Julia?" Shadow's head nurse stepped through the door, her white heels clicking and her long blonde hair swaying behind her as she walked towards me. Her forest green eyes held sympathy within them.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Sonic, but I bring bad news..." The young human said. My ears flattened, nodding for her to go on. "We have to take Shadow off life support..."

My eyes widened. "What!? You can't remove him from life support!"

"I'm sorry, Mr. Hedgehog, but he hasn't been responsive since you brought him in three weeks ago..."

"I can't lose him!"

Julia looked down. "If he doesn't wake up in a week, then we have no choice..."

With that, the blonde walked away, quietly shutting the door, leaving me to cry.

"I can't lose you Shadow..." My gloved hand gently gripped his as I stare at his beautiful face. "What am I going to do...?"

There has got to be a way, I just know it...

'How about you ask Tails?' Exe calmly asked me.

'I've already tried that, remember?' I replied back.

'What about Dr. Eggman?' Dark suggested.

'Are you insane!?' I glared at the wall across from me. 'He's my enemy! Not to mention that he wouldn't help me in the first place!'

'But Shadow was his grandfather's creation, he has to know something.' Dark said.

'He wouldn't hand it over if he did.'

'We could always force it out of him.'

'Dark!'

'What? I'm just saying...'

Exe sighed at our bickering. 'I'm sure Robotnick will help us. I feel that he wouldn't just let Shadow die...'

I sighed. 'Fine, I'll go...'

I stood up and gently kissed Shadow's forehead. "I'll be back... Please wait for me..."

I then walked out of the room for the first time in weeks. It was bright. Really bright, but I didn't let that faze me. I ran quickly out of the hospital and towards my nemesis' 'secret' lair.

I sped past his robots, not in the mood to destroy them. I broke through the door and walked inside.

'Which room would he be in...?' I wondered as I surveyed the many doors, ignoring the robots swarming around me.

"Sonic!? What are you doing here!?" I turned to find Eggman, who was standing among his robots, looking quite confused.

"I'm not here to fight, Egghead. I need your help."

"Now, why would I help you, rodent?"

My ears went back as my eyes were set in a glare. "Because Shadow will die if you don't. And I'm not making any promises on what'll happen to you if he does."

The doctor's confusion grew until, finally, a look of understanding came to his face. "Oh, I see..."

My eyes softened slightly. "So, you'll help him?"

Eggman nodded. "I'll help you, but only because it's for Shadow."

I tilted my head. "What do you mean?"

"Shadow and I are the last Robotnicks around. As much as I dislike him, he's still technically family... I want the Robotnicks to live on, and he's the only way that can happen."

I only nodded and turned around. "If he doesn't wake up in a couple of days, then I'll bring him to you."

With that, I took off towards the hospital, where my true love lay.

*Dark's POV*

"Dark, do you really think he's ready to know?" Exe looked at me, uncertainty in his eyes.

"I know he's ready. It's time for the dreams."

"What if he can't handle it?"

"After what he's been through, I'm positive that he's ready..."

Exe simply nodded, looking away. "When do we start it?"

"As soon as possible."

Exe nodded, closing his eyes. I could tell what was on his mind.

"Are you scared because he'll see Meridith?"

He nodded again. I frowned as he looked at me, crying blood.

"Don't worry, Exe... Everything will be fine. Who knows, maybe this information will help him."

"I just hope that what happened to Meridith and me won't happened to him and Shadow..."

"It won't."

"You promise?"

"I swear on Carla's grave."

He nodded. "Okay... I'll give him my memory tonight."
