Tris POV

I wake up with cold cheeks. My hands feel the tears slowly rolling down them. I really do care about Tobias I think to myself. A burst of laughter brings me back to reality. I sharply turn my head and see dark brown eyes staring into mine. They belong to a young girl, around my age.

"AAHHHHHH" I screamed, piercing the air

"Whoa man," the mysterious girl replied. "It looks like you've seen a ghost"

"Well, you sort of look like one. With your pale skin and all."

"Yeah, well, you ain't lookin' that crash hot either princess." I like this girl. I have a strong feeling we'll be great friends. I like her attitude.

"Well, um, shucks?" is all that I can think of in reply. "My name's..."

"Tris Prior, formally known as Beatrice Prior. Andrew and Natalie Prior are your parents but are now both deceased. They died to save your life and the life of Chicago but there random act of bravery did nothing but ruin your life. Brother is Caleb Prior who transferred to Erudite then betrayed you again by working with Jeanine Matthews. Hi. My name's Pippa Morin"

'Whoa. How do you know so much about my life?"

"I stalk you." I obviously let my surprise show because she continues, "Joking. I've been part of the experiment for..." She starts to count on her fingers and I hear her mumbling, 'we’ll, I came here when I was 10 so... 1, 2, 3...' She's been here since she was 10? My two and a half years is mothing compared to that. Her sudden shout brings me back to reality. "8 years! I've been here for 8 years. I came here since I was ten. That's nothing compared to the other's"

"Others?"

"Yeah. Did you think you were the only one? Well. If you did you're wrong. There's about a hundred others"

"Where are the others then?"

"In the dorms. We get special rooms because, well, we're special."

"We're special?"

"Yeah. You know how Divergent have pure genes? Well, I have the purest of the pure. Well, did anyway. Until you came and stole my thunder, my spotlight."

"Wait, what? I have the purest genes?"

"Yeah. Even more pure than my dad. He wasn't too happy."

"I thought you said you had the purest of the pure genes?"

"Yeah. Of the people they could study. They can't study my dad. He runs the operations." Who runs the operation? If I'm that special I would have met them. So, who have I met? Pippa and Kee, but they're both girls. And. 

"David. David's your dad?"

"Yeah. He's a pretty special guy. But is sort of evil. Actually, he's pure evil. He tells everyone that the study he does is for the survival of mankind. They're actually to make sure he's safe. He extracts samples of every body’s genes then combines them. He then adds a small sample of his own. The genes are then injected into him and he becomes super Divergent. He wants to make sure he always has the purest genes."

"And the others know this? And they still do it?"

"No. Only I know."

"And you still let him do it to you? Willingly?" I was confused. Why would David do this? What's so special about having the purest genes? This man was a physio path.

"Well, yeah. He's my dad."

"Have you always lived in this place?"

"No. I got sent to Chicago when I was born with my mother. They shoot her on the way through the fence but they couldn't kill me. I was a few days old. One of the women took me in and became my mother. That day, I became dauntless. It turned out she worked for David. I was supposed to leave Chicago the day before the aptitude test. Fall into the chasm, die and then the world would get over my death. But I was getting too attached to my life so Dad made me leave early. At that time I didn't know he was my dad but he threaten me so I did what he said."

"Pippa! Where are you?" Oh no. I know who that voice belongs to. David.

"Coming dad," Pippa shouted back. In a hushed tone she whispered to me "I didn't tell you anything. You don't know any of this. Otherwise, both of our lives will be cut short." And with that she skipped out of the room.

I started to drift off to sleep, my head started spinning with all the new information I'd learned. Purest genes. Pippa's life. But one thing stayed put in my mind throughout my dreamless sleep. 

David's evil.
