Alpha Conan's POV.

It's cute to see how much trust that little girl has put into Connor and Amber in such a short amount of time. According to Amber she refused to let go of Connor the entire night.

Once Amber and Connor left with Rebecca, I turned to look at Amber's parents. They had the same knowing looks on their faces that I must have as on mine as well.

" Looks like those two have a kid now. " I said.

They started to laugh. " Maybe? We will see how this all plays out. " said Natalie.

Rick was grinning. " Leave it to them to take an equally traumatized kid under their wing. " he said.

I chuckled. " Only them. "

We decided to clean all the dishes we used this morning before getting everything ready for the day. " I can help you with the interrogation, but soon after that we need to get going so we can make it to Alpha Grace's pack by nightfall. " said Rick.

" Fine by me. If you need to leave sooner, I can get Bète Marcus to help me. " I let him know. He nods.

" Best get him on standby just in case. " he said.

" Will do. " I then send a mind link to Marcus to let him know I may need his help soon.

He tells me he will join me and be ready, all I have to do is say the word. With him on standby the two of us start making our way towards the bottom floor of the pack house and out the door in the direction of the prison.

I should tell Rick I've already interrogated the leader. I should have told Amber the second I did it. I guess I'm just used to working all on my own without needing the approval of anyone in charge over me. I'll have to rectify that.

Rick gives me a look as we walk in silence. " Ok, what did you do?" He asks matter of factly.

I huff out a small humorous laugh before turning my head to the side. " I haven't told Amber yet but I interrogated the human leader the other night on my own without asking for her permission first. " I admit.

" That's a risky move to take Conan. Are you going to tell her?" He asked me.

" I plan on telling her, yes. It's just that interrogating him won't have the best effect of it's me who does the questioning. I wasn't very pleasant. " I said.

" Did you at least manage to get some answers out of him?" Asked Rick.

" Unfortunately no. He was very stubborn and kept his mouth shut the entire time. " I said.

" Well we've interrogated many people before and if it comes down to it, we can search his mind for answers. " said Rick.

" Works for me. " I said.

" When we are done, the first thing you need to do is tell Amber everything you've done. She will understand. She may be a bit disappointed but she would understand why you did it. Just be honest with her. " said Rick.

" You're right. I shouldn't have done it by myself in the first place. I should trust her more instead of relying on myself only for everything to get done. Plus, I wasn't interrogating him exactly, more like threatening him. " I said.

" That's what I figured. " said Rick with a small laugh. I playfully shoved his shoulder.

" Hey, no laughing at me. " I said in mock anger.

" Or what? You aren't Alpha anymore. " he said before he stuck his tongue out at me.

My jaw dropped in shock. " You really want to start this?" I said as I get ready to tackle him.

He stopped walking and prepared himself. " Brung it old man. " he said.

Without thinking I pounced on Rick and tackled him to the ground. The two of us acting like complete children for the first time in so many years, trying our hardest to pin the other to the ground.

Rick was laughing his head off and apparently so was I. We didn't care who could be watching us, we were just having some fun.

I wasn't putting much strength behind my attack because he was able to pin me to the ground and grinned at me. Both of us were breathing heavily and grinning like idiots.

" Gotcha. " he said.

We then heard giggling. Our heads turned to the side to see Amber and some of the others were outside. They must have just left and seen the commotion.

Rick's face went blood red in embarrassment and I took my chance to use all my strength to turn the tables and pin Rick to the ground face first and pin one of his arms behind his back. He yelped in shock when I did this and I laughed victoriously.

" I win. " I said.

" You cheated. " he claimed.

Amber was laughing her head off while the rest had different reactions. The two little girls were giggling at the scene and Connor was smiling even though he looked a bit embarrassed as well. Pamela was grinning but shaking her head at our antics.

" Wow dad I have never seen you be so playful with someone. " said Amber walking up.

" I was really only like this a couple of times with Conan and occasionally Fenris. When he wasn't evil that is. " said Rick.

I released him and backed up before helping him to his feet. " You guys need to relax more often. It's good to see you two have fun. " said Amber

" I think we both needed some time to relax before going to interrogate the human leader. " said Rick before giving me a small look.

I nod in understanding. " Luna Amber. I need to tell you something. " I said.

Her looked turned to one of seriousness and curiosity. " You can tell me anything. " she said.

" I went to the pack prison the other night without telling anyone and pulled their leader into a room to threaten him. I know I should have told you and I planned to, but I did it to keep you and Connor safe. They've just done so much damage already and I didn't want you two to hurt anymore than you already have. I deeply apologize and I regret doing this without your permission. I hope you can forgive me. " I said.

I don't know what I was expecting from her, but the reaction I got sure wasn't it. She smiled at me happily. " You really have changed from the rude Alpha you were before Connor healed you. While I am disappointed you did that, I am also deeply touched that you care so much for mine and Connor's well-being that you would threaten the human leader for us. It means a great deal to me. Thank you and also, there is nothing for me to forgive. This is still your home pack that you created yourself long ago with my father and Fenris. I understand your mindset in thinking you still run this lace after so long. You can still do whatever you please, just make sure if it's something big like what you did you at least tell me you're doing it and your reasonings. I won't stand in your way. " said Amber.

I can't help the smile I get. " You really are the best leader this pack could have gotten. Thank you. "

She brightens. " You know, you doing this has given me an idea. " she said.

I share a small look of confusion with Rick before looking back at her. " I want you to wait on interrogating the human leader until I come back from getting Rebecca clothes. Oh have a feeling the humans asked if you had gotten permission from me, correct?" She asked.

" Yes. " I said.

" Very good. We can trick them again into giving away answers like we did with Steve. If they think they've got a one up on us by thinking it would be a big betrayal for you to defy me then we can pretend that they're getting me on their side because of said betrayal. I could manipulate them into giving me answers. " said Amber.

I let out a laugh " Clever thinking Amber. " I said.

" Then we will wait until you get back. " said Rick.

" Good. Would you two like to join us? Asks Amber

" Would Rebecca feel more protected that way?" Asked Rick.

To answer his question. Rebecca walks up to him and takes his hand before gently pulling him along. He lets out a small laugh and we all take that as a yes and begin our walk into town. This interrogation is going to be very interesting. I can't wait.
