Chapter 107.

John's POV.

( Trigger warning. This chapter will be discussing very sensitive topics, such as self harming or implying something worse. If any of this triggers you I will be putting up •*•*•*• to let you know when that part starts and when it ends for those of you who wish to skip over it. It's nothing bad. I assure you. Just a warning. )

Ok, so now I have met with all the therapists and it is time for the last test. I will meet with both of them at the same time to see if they get jealous or talk over each other in any way. The one who's the most professional and puts my needs above everything else will be my new therapist.

I leave the room I met with them in and head to the room my parents and Alpha Grace are in. When I walk in they look over at me with expectant eyes.

" So, how did it go? " said my mother.

" It went well. They are both very professional and we're very thoughtful and considerate concerning my injury. They each were very different too. Different personalities and stories and different methods for introducing themselves to someone new. It showed me a lot. " I said.

" That's great. Who are you secretly rooting for?" Asked my father.

I chuckled. " No one just yet. I need to see how they work with this last meeting before I even begin to decide. " I said.

" Well they are already sitting in the room waiting for you. Would you like one of us with you as a mediator just in case?" Asked Alpha Grace.

A mediator would be good. I looked at my mother. " If moms ok with it, I'd like her to mediate the meeting. " I said.

She brightened. " I would be honored. " she said.

" Then let's do this. " I said.

She grinned and the two of us left and entered the next room where the two therapists sat and were talking politely with each other. They looked over when they saw us and all conversation stopped.

" Hello, I know we've met John, but who might you be? " asked Penelope as she stood up and offered her hand.

Jasmine following suit. They each shook my mothers hand. " This is my mother, Natalie. I brought her in as a mediator in case we happen to need one. So she will be overseeing this meeting. " I said.

" Brilliant idea John. I'm Jasmine. It's so nice to meet you. " said Jasmine.

" I'm Penelope. Now that you said your related I can see that his eyes are yours. " said Penelope.

" Thank you. It's so nice to meet you too. You should see how much he takes after my mate. He's almost an exact copy of how Rick looked when he was younger. " said my mother.

I smile at her. She then turned to me. " I'll go sit over there. You guys enjoy your meeting and if you need anything. I wouldn't mind grabbing it for you. " said my mother.

" Thanks mom. " I said.

She went to the side of the room and sat in a chair. I went and motioned for the two therapists to take a seat at the same table, across from me.

They did so and then I took my seat. " So, it was a pleasure getting to know you two for the short time that we talked. You are both very good at what you do. I can tell by how you handled everything when we talked. I want to see though, how you would act being out on the spot. So Penelope, if I were to have a panic attack during a meeting, what would be the first thing you would do?" I ask her.

Her eyes widened a fraction, not expecting the sudden questioning. She quickly snapped out of it and gave her answer. " I would assess that a panic attack is what you are having so I know the right way to help you. Then I would go through my check list I have conducted over the years of how to help people breathe and relax during an attack so they don't start to hyperventilate. " she said.

" Say nothing in your check list is working and you had to think outside the box, what would you do?" I ask.

" Why it is rather unprofessional, sometimes touch helps to ground the victim of said panic attack. I would use the five senses methods. Five things you hear, four things you see, three things you smell, two things you feel and one thing you taste. It gets your mind thinking of something else while you have someone to help ground you. " said Penelope.

" Have you ever had to deal with that before?" I asked.

" A couple of times, yes and each time I've managed to calm my client. That is a reason I prefer in person meetings instead of over the phone meetings. " said Penelope.

I looked over at Jasmine. " How would you handle the same situation?"

Jasmine looked calm. A look of seriousness on in her eyes. " Panic attacks are no joke. People can feel as if they are having a heart attack due to the pain and tightness in their chest. Some people pass out from not being able to breathe or by breathing too fast that you become dizzy and faint. I have presumptive measures for these different situations. If you were in a meeting with me and suddenly started having a panic attack I would ask you a few questions to get a better understanding on how to help you. Say you were breathing too fast, one of the best ways to counter that is to place said persons hand on your chest not only to ground them but so they can feel your chest rising with even breathes and follow your lead as you breathe with them. If you weren't breathing at all I'd ask you to cough which would then make you want to gasp in to cough some more. Another way could be to hit someone of the back to make them breathe. I personally don't like violence, so that is my least favorite methods. I prefer to exaggerate my breathing and have you count the breathes with me. " said Jasmine.

" What if we weren't meeting in person and that happened?" I asked.

" There are certain measures we as therapists take to ensure our patient is always within helps reach. If we met over video the first question I would always ask you is if you're at home safe or if you're alone. If you started to have an attack I would have access to your loved ones phone numbers or mind link to contact them and get them to you to help. If they needed instructions I would make sure I was still on the call to give them said instructions. " said Jasmine.

Penelope merely nodded in agreement. No arguing so far. That's a good sign on both their parts. " Very good answers. " I said.

They smiled at me. " Ok, so what measures would you take if I seemed like I was going to do harm to myself in person or over video?" I asked. I was looking at Penelope.

" It would be similar to what Jasmine said. At the beginning of meetings over video I would make sure you had people around to attend to you if you felt bad. I would ask you questions and make sure you had nothing around you could hurt yourself with. If we were in person and I thought you were close to wanting to hurt yourself, knowingly or subconsciously, I would take the precautions we as therapists are taught to do in these cases. Treat with care and respect. Let you know that you are not alone. These things happen to everyone and it's a natural occurrence for those who are dealing with a lot of trauma. I would also assure them that it's nothing to be ashamed about because they have a right to their feelings. I would never encourage them to peruse those thoughts or actions but I would do everything in my power to make sure that they, meaning you in this case, are safe and well taken care of. " said Penelope.

Good answer. " Jasmine, what are your thoughts on that matter?" I ask.

" What you are suggesting in said question is known as self harm that can lead to something much worse if left untreated. I wholeheartedly agree with everything that Penelope said. We are taught and trained how to handle situations like that and we do our best to make sure those don't happen while the patient is under our treatment and guidance. After everything is said and done I would like to use the next meetings to not only check up on you but to dive down into those feelings you were having and seeing what is truly causing them and how we can help to retrain your mind back to the way it was before or better. Life is precious and we must take all the care in the world to preserve it. " said Jasmine.

Another good answer. " Very good. " I said.

" Before we go any further and I'm sure that Jasmine was about to ask the same thing. Do you feel like you want to harm yourself right now?" Asked Penelope. Jasmine nodded.

My eyes widened. " Oh no. No, that thought has never crossed my mind. I simply wanted to know what you would do in tough situations such as that. Thank you for caring, both of you. That shows me a lot about both of you. " I said.

They smiled at me again. " Good, we just wanted to make sure you were ok to continue. " said Jasmine.

" You both are being so kind and professional. I'm impressed. " I said.

•*•*•*•*•*•

" There's no reason for animosity between us. We are here to show we care and to do our jobs properly. " said Jasmine.

" Agreed. " said Penelope.

" So here's a question I've been thinking about for a while. It's based on what my sister is currently going through with her mate. Her mate was kidnapped and tortured. Had his entire mind wiped by Wolfsbane but has been healing slowly. How would you proceed if something like that were to happen to me and I not remember a single thing we've been through?" I asked.

" Wow, first off I am so sorry that happened to your sister and her mate. They must be dealing with a lot. Secondly, I more than likely would have been made aware of your situation by the loved one you have chosen to speak for you whenever you cannot. It would be your decision whether you wish to continue therapy or push it away until or if you remember. If you wanted to continue I would introduce myself again and we would get to know each other once more before continuing on with whatever we were doing before this happened. " said Penelope.

" That is a tough situation. Wolfsbane is very dangerous and deadly to use werewolves. I knew it could kill but I had no idea it could wipe minds. I agree with Penelope. We would basically start from the bottom and work our way back to the top. Of course it would be your choice on whether you wish to continue therapy, wait until you remember some or just stop it all together.  I would fully support your decision either way. " said Jasmine.

" Thank you for your answers. My sister has had it rough but I am so proud of her. She's now the Luna of her own pack and last I heard her mate is slowly remembering things and have finally stepped up to help her by becoming Alpha. She's got so much support and is even receiving therapy for the trauma she's been through. I'm very proud of her. " I said.

" That's amazing. Seems things are starting to look up for her. " said Jasmine.

" You have both been through a lot. I can't imagine how hard that's been on both of you. I am proud to see how far you've come. I wish to see how much further you will go. Whether I'm your therapist or not. I do wish to remain in contact with you and those here in this pack. I'll help out wherever I'm needed. " said Penelope.

" That's very kind of you Penelope. I have a lot of patients and it's hard for me to get to all of them in one week, especially if they decide they need an earlier emergency appointment. Would you possibly be interested in taking on a few of my patients for the times I can't be there for them?" Asked Jasmine

Penelope brightened. " I would love to help Jasmine. " said Penelope. She gained a big grin from jasmine and they both then turned their attention back to me.

" I believe I have asked all the questions I need too. I have both your numbers and will call you each by tomorrow evening with my final decision. Thank you so much for coming. I wish you both safe travels on your way. " I said.

We all stood up and shook hands. Both of them mindful for my hurt hand. " It was a pleasure to meet you John. You are a fine young man. " said Jasmine.

" I hope to see you again whenever I stop by to help out. It was great meeting you too. Take care of yourself. " said Penelope.

" Same to you too. " they then walked out together. Both interlocking their arms and leaning on each other as they talked as if they had been friends for so long.

If nothing comes out of these meetings at least I can say I helped two people become best friends. I smiled at my mom  other as she walked up to me and smiled proudly at me.

I then sighed. I feel exhausted now. " I think I'm going to go back to bed for a bit. I'm exhausted. " I said.

" Ok, go grab you a sandwich first for lunch and then head to bed for a nap. You'll feel better once you eat. " said my mother.

I nodded. " Yes ma'am. " the two of us then left the room in the direction of the others. This all turned out great. I've got a bunch of thinking to do. I only hope I can my the right decision in the end.
