Returning
A/N I would like to give a big shout out to Jazzysnapz for designing the new cool cover to this story. This chapter is dedicated to her:)
Harry was in the studio working out some sketches for his project. He was still trying to decide whether he wanted to keep the old project or start fresh with a new one. He'd better hurry up, the deadline was coming soon.
If only he could turn in the painting of him and Robbie. That painting was so hot. One of his best works yet. The problem was Kay. He would fry Harry alive if he saw it. For now it would have to stay hidden until he could figure out what to do with it. Maybe he should keep it. He didn't know.
A pair of arms were suddenly wrapped around his waist, followed by soft lips on the sensitive part of his neck. Harry smiled, feeling a little giddy.
"Hey, you," Robbie breathed against his skin. "Whatcha doin'?"
Harry sighed. "Just trying to figure out this project." He felt Robbie's lips move to his cheeks, then his jawline.
"Mmmmm." Robbie said, flicking his tongue lightly along the sensitive part of Harry's ear, causing him to shiver.
"I still have to, uhhh, study for a test," Harry said, trying to resist the feelings Robbie was stirring up. He really shouldn't, he had a lot to do today. "Plus I have to see your dad later."
Robbie's hands slid under Harry's shirt, moving along his chest. His fingers brushed against his nipples, bringing more shivers. He was standing behind Harry, pressed against him, his face buried in his curls. Harry felt a little weak. He could feel how ready Robbie was. It didn't take much to turn him on, Harry noticed. Robbie was still kissing his neck before moving on to his shoulders.
Here we go again, Harry thought with a smile. There was no going back. Robbie's hands were on his pants now, unbuckling and unzipping. Harry dropped his pencil and sketchbook. He leaned back against Robbie, eyes closed, enjoying his caresses.
He turned around and they began kissing, their breathing growing heavy. Harry moved Robbie to the work table, knocking everything off before pushing him onto it. They tore at each other's clothing as quickly as possible while their tongues wrestled with each other.
"Ohhhh, yeah," Robbie sighed as he peeled down Harry's shorts. "Welcome back, baby." He pulled Harry to him, moving against him. Harry climbed onto the table, still kissing him.
The sound of a door slamming made them jump. Damn, Harry thought. He forgot to lock the door. He really hadn't planned on making love to Robbie in the studio, but he should have known Robbie better.
Zayn stood there with his book bag and portfolio. Harry felt himself blushing. He wasn't expecting Zayn to be in the studio today. Ever since he realized his own feelings about Robbie, Harry had been staying clear of Zayn. He could just imagine what he had to say now.
"Hey, Harry," Zayn said a little loudly. "I was wondering where you been hiding yourself."
Harry and Robbie sat up and quickly pulled on their clothes.
"Uhh, yeah," Harry kept his eyes on his clothes as he buttoned and zipped up. "I had a lot to do."
He looked up just in time to see Zayn shooting Robbie a dirty look.
"Yeah no kidding," Zayn said. "Looks like someone here didn't waste any time finding his next victim."
Robbie moved closer to Harry. "Harry is mine," he said. "and what we do is none of your business."
"It is if it involves the ruin of my best friend." Zayn said, moving closer to them.
Harry stepped between the men who were now staring each other down. "Hey, guys, come on."
"I know your game," Zayn said, looking Robbie dead in the eye. "I heard all about you and that fella of yours,"
"Oh yeah?" Robbie said.
"Like playing games, huh? If you're looking for another victim here you better think again."
"Don't talk about anything you don't know." Robbie said, low and even.
"Oh I do know."
"Hey, enough!" Harry pulled Robbie away. "That's enough." He turned Robbie to face him. "Listen, why don't you just go on? I'll meet up with you later, okay?"
Robbie gave Zayn one last glare before turning to Harry. "Alright, baby," He threw his arm around Harry and gave him a long deep kiss before pulling away. "Later, then." He gave Zayn one last scowl before leaving.
After the door slammed shut Zayn turned to Harry. "Haz, what the hell?"
Harry rubbed his eyes and braced himself for the lecture he knew was coming. "I know, I know."
"You packed up and left because of him," Zayn said. "You were failing classes because of him."
Harry cringed at the memory. "I know, I know."
"You came this close to getting caught by the old man," Zayn said.
"Tell me."
"Harry," Zayn was shaking his head looking frustrated. "Help me make sense of this. Explain it to me like I'm three years old. Why, why did you go back to him?"
Harry sighed and shrugged. "We love each other."
Zayn's eyebrows shot up. "Excuse me?"
"I don't understand it either," Harry sat on the work table. "but it's the truth. I am totally and completely in love with Robbie, and he loves me. I've never felt this way before, not even with Liam."
Zayn looked at him with disgust. "What about your classes? Your future? They don't mean anything to you anymore?"
"They do," Harry felt torn. What a situation he was in. He wanted Robbie, he wanted his degree. Why couldn't he have it all?
"Kay should have never told you to look out for him," Zayn said. "Things were going just fine until that brat got in the picture."
"You think I don't know that?" Harry said. "Believe me, I've been wishing that since day one. My life would be a hell of a lot easier." And pretty boring, he realized.
"He should have asked me," Zayn said. "We'd all be better off."
Harry was confused. "How do you figure that?"
"Cause I would have beat Robbie's ass the first time he made a pass at me," Zayn said. "then tell the bossman he got mugged. It happens."
Harry rolled his eyes. "Jesus, Zayn, come on, give him a break. He's harmless."
"Harmless my ass. You don't care about getting destroyed like that other guy?"
"Oh yeah," Harry remembered. "I met that guy."
"What?" Zayn looked surprised. "You met that guy? How? Is he in town?"
"He's here in town, he was looking for Robbie at our building. His name's Paul."
Zayn scoffed. "Hell, I would have pointed him in the right direction. That Paul wants some extreme payback."
Harry thought about Paul. He wondered if that was what he wanted. If only he knew the whole story. Why would Robbie do something so cruel, to screw Paul over like that? Was it a bad breakup? How well did Robbie take rejection? He'd better find out if they were going to be a couple. He didn't feel one hundred percent comfortable about their relationship. Who knew when Robbie would turn on him. All Harry could do now was hope for the best. There was no going back now.
"So," Zayn stood in front of him. "What's the plan now?"
Robbie was headed back to the apartment. He was feeling a little bored without Harry. He tried to figure out what to do with his time before the evening. Should he go shopping, visit the old man or go to a bar? It would be a good while before Harry would be done with work and classes. He couldn't wait until then. Maybe he could talk him into going to a night club. No, Harry would want to stay in tonight. That's okay, Robbie thought with a smile. He had plans for that too.
A familiar figure caught his eye and made him stop in his tracks. His smile dropped.
Several feet away stood a man with his back to him.
Robbie froze. He knew that man. Oh shit, he thought.
It was Paul. Paul was right here in town.
Shit!
Paul's attention was on his phone. He didn't seem to notice Robbie. Robbie pulled up his hood and turned away, walking quickly in the opposite direction. What was that son of a bitch doing here? he wondered, and did he know where Robbie lived? This was not good. He thought Father had made sure that Paul would stay away but clearly that didn't happen. What was he going to do about this?
Harry left work for the day. He had promised Robbie he would stay over at his place. He was going to have to figure out some kind of living arrangement. Zayn had asked him what he was going to do and Harry didn't know how to answer him. He really didn't have any kind of game plan in mind. For now he would have to play it by ear.
Harry was surprised to find Robbie sitting outside on his car. He was shivering.
"Robbie? Jesus, what are you doing out here?" Harry ushered Robbie into his car and quickly started it, turning the heater on. "You could have come inside, it's freezing out here."
Robbie didn't seem to hear him, he sat quietly in the passenger seat, head down. Harry pulled out of the lot.
"So what do you wanna do tonight?" Harry said. "I don't have a lot of studying to do. Do you want to go out to dinner? Maybe see a movie or something? Whatever you want."
Robbie perked up at the last sentence. "You know what I want?"
"What's that?"
"I would like for us to live together."
This blew Harry away. "Uh, what?"
"You heard me." Robbie said. "I want us to live together."
