Meeting
"Pick up Robbie at the station. He should be there around three. Take care of my boy, he's new to the city."
These were the instructions the bossman gave Harry earlier in the day.
As if he didn't have enough to do with his work and his classes, now he had to go pick up the boss's kid and babysit him. He had two tests, a paper and a class project that needed his attention more than the boss's bratty kid. Did the boss forget the assignments lined up at work? Was he supposed to forget about those because of this kid?
Kid. The kid was just a year younger than he was. Robbie was coming all the way from London and had never been to Chicago before. Since Harry had been living here longer than anyone at the company, he had to be the one to take the kid under his wing. Where he was going to find the time he was sure he didn't know.
Now Harry was standing by a large glass wall in the station, looking at his phone. It was already forty minutes after three. Was he late? Did Robbie miss his flight? Oh crap, what if that kid got on the wrong one and was somewhere out on a remote island? The boss will not be happy if anything happened to his only son.
Harry fidgeted. He wished he had his sketchbook. There were a lot of interesting subjects here at the airport that needed his attention. His hands felt empty without it. He had left it in the car because he thought he would be in and out. Oh well.
He watched a hot guy in skinny jeans pass by him. The jeans were so tight they practically showed what the guy was made of. Nice. Some other things needed attention also, like his non existent love life. Never mind, he told himself. School came first these days. The rest could wait. One heartbreak was enough for him anyway. Forget it, kid, he told himself.
A sudden tapping noise on the glass startled Harry and he looked up.
On the other side of the glass stood a slender young man. His hand was pressed against the glass and he was looking and smiling directly at Harry. His hair was short and brushed to the side. His eyes were a bright green with a hint of mischief, his lips were pink and full.
"Hi," the young man mouthed. The glass was pretty thick, so he sounded very low and muffled.
Harry could feel himself being drawn in by the guy's eyes. Such an intense green. The guy wore a black coat with a thick blue scarf tied around his neck. A large bag was slung over one shoulder. Harry moved closer to the glass, saw that the man was a little shorter than he was.
"You're hot." the guy said.
Harry was a little unsettled by this bold attention. What should he do? The guy was checking him out up and down, his tongue flicking across the corner of his lips. Did this kid have him under some kind of spell or something? He felt a strange feeling stiring in his chest, his throat tightened. He wanted to kiss those plump lips, to do things with him that were probably illegal in this country. He wanted this guy, badly. And clearly from the way the guy was watching him, he wanted him too.
"What's your name?" the guy said.
Get it together, Harry told himself. He pointed at the guy and said "Who are you?"
That guy smiled wider. "I'm Robbie."
Robbie? Was this the Robbie he was supposed to pick up?
Harry held up a finger. "Wait a minute." He recalled that the boss had given him a photo of his son not too long ago. He searched through his email and found a picture of a young man wearing large shades. It was hard to tell if it was him or not.
Harry held up his phone with the picture and pointed at it. "Is this you?"
Robbie squinted at the photo, then looked back at Harry confused for a moment. Then his face brightened. "Are you Harry?"
Just as he suspected, Harry thought. This guy that was giving him all of these strange feelings was the son of his boss.
Great. Just what he needed.
