Net Neutrality.

Oh yeah, I just said that.

I know everyone's running in circles right now, screaming about how the internet's gonna be taken away from them (they're not but running and screaming... it sounded funny, kay?)

Time to add my opinion in the wide pool.

No, the internet isn't gonna be "taken away"

Net neutrality simply means that an internet provider has to give every website the same amount of data, meaning that every website will run at the same speed, same quality, etc.

Essentially, the loss of said net neutrality means that certain websites will run at high speed and others will barely load, while wide the most of the websites stay the same.

This means that the internet isn't neutral anymore (I know, big shocker).

Companies can pay providers to give their website more data volume, which of course results in other website losing said volume:
Those websites that will run slower, will be less visited because... who the hell has the patience to wait hours for a website to load?
This'll mean (especially for smaller sites) that they lose more and more visitors until eventually, some can't hold themselves anymore because the maintainance costs more than the website's worth, which will result in those websites ceasing to exist.

that however isn't necessarily a result of the loss of net neutrality. it's a possibility that follows.

So is the possibility that there will be different packages for different websites (like a package for gaming, streaming, social media, etc.). Essentially, that means that you'll have to pay more. A LOT more. but the internet won't be taken away from you.

Now those were way to many facts, I know, so I'll sum it up:

Net neutrality = internet provider has to give every website the same amount of data
Loss of net neutrality = certain websites will run at high speed and others will barely load, while wide the most of the websites stay the same or lightly drift into one of the spectrums. Most likely no website will completely get one of the both extremes.

I know it's bad. I don't want it to happen either, but there's no need to make a bigger deal out of this than it actually is, kay?
