Shading comparison

Okay, so first I tried doing it with thehypergodofdeath's method of shading:

And then i did it the way I normally do it:

Well, obviously my way of shading is a lot sloppier (and less smooth) but aside from that:

I suppose for darker colours (like the blue in his hair), Hyper's method works a lot better because I'm pretty limited on my colour ratio since I'm only using these colours to shade:

(for every picture. I just like blues, you could literally use any hue of colour)

Then again, Hyper's method is a lot - and I mean A LOT - more time consuming cause I had to find multiple colours in the same hue everytime, meaning I couldn't work on one layer like I normally do.

So instead of having four layers (base colours, shading, highlights and outline) I had three layers for each colour, which in this picture added up to 22 layers (outline included) which I later on merged together into 8 layers in total (again, outline layer included).

So yeah. this method takes up way more of the space on my computer...

Anywho, I'd love to know which method gives the better result! ^3^

If enough people like hyper's style better, I might even make the effort to adapt to it ;3;
