I run with the other Dauntless. I realize that I've passed a lot of people. I slow down. I then jump in the train.

 I cringe when I hear someone scream. "She fell!" I look around and smile. 

"Look it's a Stiff!" Someone yells. Another Peter?

 I yell back "Well," I look at his clothes "shut your Candor mouth." He looks stunned.

 "Cool." A girls says behind me. "A Stiff that can speak up." It's an Erudite. "Beth." I say. "Kara." She answers. 

"Jumping time!" I pretend to look shocked. Truth? I'm so excited. I can finally see Tobias, even if he doesn't see me. "Together?" I ask Kara. "Together." We jump. I roll, as taught. She doesn't and scrapes her arm. "God!" She curses. 

"Initiates!" A leader yells, thankfully not Eric. "Your first test is to jump, if you can't, you don't belong here." 

"You want us to jump?!" A Candor wails. 

The leader nods, and looks around. "Any volunteers?" 

I wait about 10 seconds before I raise my hand. "Me."

Some people snicker. I walk up with confidence.

 Then I jump. 

I feel the net around my body. Hands come to help me. I take one. Which just happened to be Tobias. 

"Name." He grunts.

 "Excuse me?" 

"What is your name? Or should I just call you... Stiff?" His eyes are cold. What happened? Is it me or something else?

 "Beth." I say. 

"First jumper, Beth." And he walks away.
