Wels

Wels jumped as he heard a cheerful voice behind him. "Hey, Wels!" He laughed as he turned around to face Xisuma.

"You scared me!" He told him, his laughter dying down. "Wasn't expecting visitors today. To what do I owe this pleasure?"

"Just wanted some input on a few commands I've written, new plugin. Proximity mod, it's for Tango's among us game," Xisuma explained, Wel's mind flickering to the new mod that had been developed.

"Do you need to get it to integrate cleanly with the communication systems we have now?" Wels asked, Xisuma nodding.

"Yeah, I'm not 100% sure the command will work."

"Why are you asking me? Like, Grian has more experience with coding. And why do we need this for Tango's among us game if he's, well, dead?" Wels questioned, remembering Iskall had just been standing there awkwardly the entire time.

"The code still says that respawn works, and you're right, Grian is brilliant with code. He could hack into literally anything," Xisuma agreed. "I'm just not asking him because, quite simply, I don't trust him." Iskall backed away slightly, hesitating before flying off awkwardly.

"I- I guess I'll help then?" Wels shrugged, delving into his ender chest. "Are you using blocks or communicator?"

"Blocks - it's based in the end as fewer hermits come through there, so you'll have to come to the portal with me." Wels slipped his elytra on, nodding as he grabbed a stack of fireworks, following Xisuma to the bedrock in the centre of the island, the command block based a few blocks away. "Do you mind checking over the commands?" Wels nodded, smiling as he bent over the command block, his eyes scanning over the lines of code.

"The first block seems accurate," Wels noted after about 5 minutes. "How many blocks do you have?"

"About 5," Xisuma lied, hoping Wels wouldn't look further than that. It wasn't his fault if Wels poked further than he was supposed to. Wasn't his fault if the sixth command was triggered, or he delved into the game code.

About half an hour later of consistent commentary, Wels frowned, glancing up at Xisuma.

"You said that respawn still worked. This world is set to hardcore," Wels stated, glancing nervously at Xisuma. "Why did you lie?"

"I didn't," Xisuma stated calmly

"What do you mean, you clearly did. And you lied again, there are six command blocks. Let's take a big leap and assume there isn't a command there that's designed to murder someone, and assume it's a happy accident. Why did you lie?"

"You shouldn't take that leap," Xisuma smiled. "And you shouldn't look deeper than I told you to. Curiousity kills the cat after all."

"I'm not a cat, Xisuma. I believe I and the entire hermitcraft server have the right to know if their lives are at stake," Wels argued, reaching for his sword.

"Oh they do have the right, unfortunately people like Grian would find ways to escape or summon people could help if they knew. Better that they think it's just a player, and that it's not permananent." Wels flicked the record switch on his communicator quietly, backing away.

"So then why? You're- You were a good admin, I don't get what changed," Wels said quietly.

"Nothing changed. I just gave up and listened to them," Xisuma responded, tilting his head. "But nobody needs to know that other than that you, so you can delete that recording you're currently taking." Wels dropped his communicator in shock, Xisuma pushing him against the block, making sure the edges cut into his back.

"Now press the button Wels, activate the commands for the plugin. You deserve to be the one to do it, you were the one too look through the commands in so much detail, even more than you were supposed to," Xisuma told him calmly, Wels stuttering in response.

"I- Xisum-Xisuma I can't-"

"You can and you will. Obviously I can press it, but then I'd be forced to alter the code even more, expand the range," Xisuma threatened, forcing Wels around to face the button. "It's red, incredibly hard to miss."

"F-Fuck you," Wels whispered, his hand curling around it, his hand shaking as he pushed down on it, closing his eyes as he pushed down on it, the server instantly starting to lag. Wels didn't notice this though, pain shooting through his body as he collapsed to the ground. His vision went black, and if Xisuma hadn't known it was meant to kill him, he would've thought he'd just gone AFK. The message didn't show up properly in chat, as Xisuma had hoped. Mumbo's farms made care of that.

He'd been merciful. He liked Wels, and knew it was less painful and faster. He dragged the body towards the obsidian platform, deleted the command blocks and left the end, no evidence left except for the body. They'd find that before long. And someone else would surely get the blame.
