Resisting a Rest
The light from the TV glared out in the darkened room. It shadowed the couch and the coffee table, making them look scarier in the fluctuating artificial light. The sounds of sirens and gunfire came from the TV as police cars zoomed across the screen in pursuit of the criminals they were trying to catch.
Frisk was sat on Sans' knee on the floor, a blanket wrapped around the both of them, watching the TV with wide, child-like eyes and her mouth hung open slightly. She giggled whenever she saw the police cars zooming past with their sirens blaring.
Frisk reached out from under the blanket loosely draped over her shoulders and grabbed another handful of popcorn from the bowl on the floor next to her. She began munching on it happily as Sans repositioned the blanket around her.
Before long, the end credits began to roll and Sans glanced up at the clock.
"Alright, buddy. I think that's enough of the late night police shows, don't you? Time for bed," he said, bopping Frisk on the head slightly with his bony fingers.
Frisk frowned slightly, turning around to look Sans in the face.
"No!" she said with a small smirk, pulling tongues at him.
"No?" Sans repeated in amusement. "Alright then, I guess you leave me no choice..."
He then grabbed the top corner of his hoodie and brought it over his mouth.
"1 Alpha 1 to dispatch, requesting backup," he said, his voice muffled by the fabric of his hoodie as he made radio noises. "We have a naughty Frisk here who's resisting a rest,"
Sans looked down at Frisk with a smile who was giggling like crazy at yet another one of Sans' ridiculous puns.
"10-4! Nyehehe!" a sudden yell came from the darkened couch.
Frisk whipped around and saw Papyrus erupting from beneath the couch cushions to stand up straight. He had his hands on his hips and a confident smirk on his face, but that soon faded as he placed his hand on his face.
"Oh my God, I just realised that was a pun," he said, clearly rather annoyed at himself.
"Bro..." Sans tried to interrupt.
"I'm more disappointed that I didn't notice sooner!" Papyrus sighed.
"Bro, they're getting away," Sans said, gesturing to Frisk.
Frisk had already scrambled onto her feet and wrapped the blanket around her shoulders so that it acted like a billowing cape. She was scampering towards the door when Papyrus finally noticed that she was gone and quickly gave chase.
She quickly skidded into the hallway, laughing like a hyena as Papyrus was hot on her heels.
"Wee woo, wee woo! This is the bed police!" he called, cupping his hands around his mouth so that it sounded like a loud speaker.
Frisk looked over her shoulder to see how close he was to catching her, but what she didn't notice was Sans teleporting right in front of her. She collided with him, but before she had a chance to dive out of the way, he wrapped his arms around her to restrict her movements.
"Gotcha," he said, winking as Frisk wriggled about playfully, laughing in protest.
"Human! You have now been captured! You will be sentenced to a bedtime story and eight hours of sleep for your crime!" Papyrus said as he picked Frisk up into his arms, placing her on his shoulder.
Frisk smirked at this and clambered up onto Papyrus' head, covering his eye sockets with her hands.
"Ah! Tiny hands, my only weakness!" he yelled, running about frantically.
Frisk clung on, trying not to get thrown off in Papyrus' fit.
"You will never win the fight against me, human!" Papyrus said, finally slowing down and trying to locate where Frisk was on his head with no eyes to guide him.
Frisk then planted a kiss on Papyrus' smooth skull, causing him to freak out once again and for Frisk to smirk in achievement.
"SANS!! The human is attempting to subdue me with kisses!" Papyrus yelled.
"They're... too... strong..." he said, falling to his knees and holding his hands up to the heavens in a dramatised way.
He eventually collapsed onto the floor face-down as Frisk sat on top of his body, continuing to smile happily.
"Savage," Sans joked.
All of a sudden, Papyrus spun back around and grabbed Frisk in his hands.
"The great Papyrus retaliates!! Nyeheheh!!" he said, throwing Frisk into the air and catching her once more.
She squealed with delight, her short brown locks bouncing up and down each time Papyrus threw her. Eventually though, he stood back up once more and flung Frisk over his shoulder, a firm hand on her back to keep her from slipping off.
"Alright human, that's enough fun and games! It's time for bed!" he decided.
He marched along the hallway with Sans in tow to Frisk's bedroom, all the while humming that tune he never seemed to stop singing.
Frisk was still smiling. She loved playing these games with the skeleton brothers... They were so much fun! Looking up, she saw Sans looking at her. She waved to him and smiled broadly when he returned her wave with a small smirk. Papyrus continued to hum his tune as he bounced Frisk about with every step.
It was times like these when Frisk was glad she had chosen the path she did... She was happy she was able to stay in the underground. Who knows what would have happened if she had chosen a different path?
