Chapter 6 - Breaking In
A/N - I don't own Fire Emblem Three Houses, and Resident Evil. I also have some help from a friend in Discord once again (He doesn't have an FFN account), so you can thank him as well. Now Enjoy.
PS - Sorry it's been quite awhile since I last updated. I was on holiday and needed a break from writing, so I hope you guys understand. Anyways, now to the story.
The duo continues walking through the dreaded area filled with the broken houses and some muddy puddles around... along with some tint of dried blood around.
"Dear Sothis... this is a horrendous place..." Dimitri muttered.
"Who the hell is Sothis...?" Byleth asked in a dull, yet confused tone.
"Wait... you don't know?" Dimitri replies, baffled.
"No... never heard of her." Byleth replied, "Is she some kind of local goddess or something?"
"It's a religion that is most populated in my kingdom and the Leicester Alliance," Dimitri explained, "I'm surprised you don't know that."
"Well, I'm a mercenary," Byleth explained before asking, "Why should I do research when I don't have the time?"
"... That is a good point." Dimitri understood.
"Now, let's focus on sneaking inside that building." Byleth stated, looking for an open window or an unlocked door or something.
The two continue on walking through the abandoned island, then the young prince starts to hear howling from the distance.
"Wha-What was that?!" Dimitri blurted out in horror.
"Mmm... I don't know. But shh. Can't make too much noise." Byleth stated, while reloading her gun with what little ammo is left.
"Okay..." Dimitri whispered as the two continue walking quietly as possible, while avoiding anything like sticks.
"Over there." Byleth says, pointing to an open door which looks quite run down. It is missing chips and pieces of wood. "We should move quietly and carefully." Byleth added.
"Hopefully, it would have some materials we could use..." Dimitri mumbled.
However, just as the mercenary slowly opens the door... it ends up leaving crack noises. Her face turns pale and mutters, "Shit! They're coming!"
"WOOF! WOOF!" is heard as footsteps are heard at an accelerating pace.
The duo turns around to see a bunch of zombie dogs rushing down at them. Byleth aims her gun at the windows as the infected dogs rush into the corridor as a blur.
"Damn! These things are fast!" Dimitri says as one of the 'Cerberus' tackled Byleth to the ground.
"Get off of me, you stupid mutt!" Byleth exclaimed, trying to shake the Cerberus off.
"Hold it in place!" Dimitri says, as Byleth holds its head in for long enough for Dimitri to snap its neck as Byleth throws it completely to the wall. "You alright?"
"Yeah... I'm fine..." Byleth took a deep breath as the other Cerberus began circling them.
"Oh boy... any ideas?" Dimitri asked, worried.
"Not really..." Byleth says, realising she still has no grenades.
"Let's get in!" Dimitri shouted as the duo rushed through the door.
The two close the door, using their bodies as a way to barricade the door.
"Think we're safe from those mutts?" Byleth asks.
Suddenly, the infected dogs start trying to barge through the door. The scratching causes some holes to appear in the door.
"Okay... not safe at all." Byleth says, in a sarcastic tone.
"YOU THINK?!" Dimitri blurted out angrily.
"I know." Byleth says, trying to shoo the mutts away from the door with the gun. "Oh boy... This isn't good."
"I got another idea!" Dimitri said as he rushed to a shelf and pushed towards the door, blocking it completely.
"Are you crazy?! I had a mission, you know!" Byleth said, worried and annoyed.
"You do realise those dogs could have easily broken through the door?!" Dimitri pointed out.
"But still! My mission was bring you in alive." Byleth explained, putting emphasis on 'alive'.
"We can still find another exit!" Dimitri told her off.
"Ugh... you're being impossible..." Byleth mumbled as she facepalms and groans, "Fine! We just have to find another exit while looking for the cure."
"Exactly." Dimitri agreed while the dogs applied more force to the door to the point where it could fall off its hinges.
"Let's get going before the dogs get in here!" Byleth said, knowing the dogs are about to break the door down.
The two rushes to the entrance to the building through the garage and Byleth kicks down the entrance door. The two look through the hallway... where they see the room is akin to a butcher's storage room, except instead of frozen meats... it's a bunch of frozen, human corpses.
"Wha... I... huh...?" Dimitri stuttered in horror.
"God... those kidnappers are truly messed up in the head..." Byleth commented.
"Geez, you think?" Dimitri pointed out sarcastically.
"I'm surprised royals have a thing for sarcasm," Byleth commented.
"We're people too, you know?" Dimitri pointed out with a hint of hostility.
"Good point." Byleth said, noticing the hint of hostility.
"Regardless, let's keep moving." Dimitri replied.
The two walks through the freezing storage, where Byleth is shivering quite a bit, but Dimitri isn't shivering at all. In fact, he's perfectly fine.
"J-Jesus... Are you not even the slightest bit cold?" Byleth said, shivering.
"Oddly enough, no." Dimitri admitted, "It must be another effect of the virus or that I'm so used to the icy weather... most likely the first one."
"Yeah... I'll go with the virus theory." Byleth replied.
"Things seem... too quiet." Dimitri said, unnerved.
Suddenly, they start hearing groaning from somewhere. The duo backs up against each other as Dimitri looks around on the left side while Byleth looks around on the right side.
"Alright... here goes nothing..." Dimitri muttered.
However, Byleth looks down and sees a dark purple, misty puddle under them, where the mercenary's eyes widen in terror as she shouts, "DIMITRI! Watch out!" As she pushes him out of the way as the puddle turns into a mini purple explosion and the two roll over along with the frozen corpses nearby, they break into pieces.
"Oh, c'mon! Really?!" Dimitri says, slightly annoyed.
"The hell was that?" Byleth asks, confused while recovering from the dodge.
"Ugh..." Dimitri groaned.
The duo hear more groaning as they see purple mists coming out from the corner and slowly moving.
"Don't tell me it's that thing again..." Byleth groans.
"I dearly hoped not..." Dimitri agreed.
Then, a shadowy figure comes out from the bunch of frozen corpses. The figure is revealed to be a young girl wearing a torn off hospital gown. Her skin is red raw and some of it is pure ice from being in the storage room, and her left eye is missing.
"Wha... what the hell...?" Byleth mumbled.
A/N - I wonder who is this mysterious monster is? Regardless, I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter and if you did, leave a comment and have a good day! Aqua out!
