The source of that horrifying scream slowly crawls out of the shadows, where Byleth and Dimitri stare in horror at the monstrosity in front of them. The woman's eyes widen in horror as it steps closer to them.

"Wha-What the hell is that thing?!" Byleth thought in horror.

The horrific, damaged monster that barely resembles a female slowly walks towards them. Byleth reloads her gun and shoots at it's stomach, which doesn't do anything, except that monster shrills at them and suddenly, it's left arm turns a repulsive tentacle with it's muscles exposed as it swipes right at the two, but Byleth grabs Dimitri's arm and ducks down as the tentacle crashes against the wall.

"R-RUN!" Byleth shouted as she stood up and runs away from the monster while holding Dimitri's wrist.

The monster screams again as it creates a purple fireball on it's other hand as it throws it at them. Byleth moves to the right as the fireball hits a wall and crashes it down, which blocks their way.

"Wha-WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?!" Dimitri panicked, like a normal person would.

The two turn around and quickly duck down as the tentacle slams the crumbles into more pieces.

"This way!" Byleth told him as they rushed to the nearest room, where they just spotted a window. "Quick; we need to jump out of that window!"

"Wait, what?!" Dimitri blurted out in shock, "Are you mad!?"

"Oh! I'm sorry, do you have a better idea?!" Byleth asked him coldly.

"... I..."

Suddenly, they hear the horrifying and piercing screeching again as they hear the sounds of it's footsteps getting louder and louder.

"Fine!" Dimitri blurted out as they both rushed out to the window, and just when the prince climbed to it, Byleth turned around to see a tentacle with an axe blade attached to it, heading towards them.

"DODGE!" Byleth screams as she pushes Dimitri out of the window and the mercenary jumps out as well... though, the blade barely scratches her back as the two fall out of the window and crushes to the ground.

Thankfully, the distance isn't very huge, so Dimitri hits his arm while Byleth injuries her back.

"Gah!" Dimitri shouted as he noticed a bruise on his arm, however, it's mutating a bit as his arm is rapidly healing unnaturally, "What... what on Earth...?"

She slowly gets up and notices the unnatural self-healing of Dimitri, which her eyes widen in shock and asks bluntly, "The hell happened here?"

"I... I don't know. It must be one of the side effects from the virus... like that document said I found earlier," Dimitri answered.

"God... this virus must be spreading faster than I thought." Byleth mutters, and asks him, "We get better moving. Can you stand?"

"Yes." Dimitri agreed, "But what about you? You injured your back!"

"I'm fine," Byleth ensured him, "I'm used to it by now in my line of work,"

"I suppose so..." Dimitri answered, until they started hearing groaning from a short distance, "Oh no..."

The two quickly get up as they see a bunch of zombies walking up to them. Byleth draws out her knife and mumbles, "Shit... it's those zombies again!"

"If only we found some ammo for my gun..." Dimitri muttered.

"Looks like we have no choice but to kill our way through." Byleth told him.

"Agreed..." Dimitri replied.

As the zombies are heading towards them, the prince looks around desperately and looks at the floor, where he sees a large branch, which he says, "It's not much... but it will have to do,"

"Yeah. I suppose." Byleth said.

Dimitri rushes in as he yells and smacks one zombie's head clean off, which he yells out,  "There's one!" Then he notices the branch broke, where he mutters, "... Darn it..."

"Well, it was a branch." Byleth pointed out as she takes out her gun to shoot the zombies' knees, then starts slashing at them as she craves out the hearts to kill them.

"You're not wrong... ahem..." Dimitri responded as a zombie from behind suddenly bites his shoulder, causing his skin to turn a tint of green, he blurts out, "G-GAH!" as he pushes the zombie away and punches the zombie's head clean off.

"Jesus... they're everywhere." Byleth swore.

"They are! The worst that could happen is if that monster could appear at any-" Dimitri is suddenly as they hear a massive thump behind them, which they slowly turn around and sees the exact same monster has jumped out of the window, making Dimitri mutters, "... Oh you gotta be kidding me!"

Byleth, out of pure desperation, takes out her only explosive grenade as she takes out the safety pin and throws at the zombies as she rushes to Dimitri and shields him as the grenade explodes, killing off a majority of the zombies and covering the duo in their soaking blood. Byleth gets off from the prince and grabs his wrist.

"Let's move!"

"Y-YES!" Dimitri agreed as the two ran away as they could.

They hear the monster screaming as it turns it's left arm into an axe-tentacle thing as it swings it around as it slices the remaining zombies' heads off. Byleth and Dimitri quickly ducks down as the axe attack misses and collapses to the floor.

Dimitri asks Byleth, "Do you have any flash grenades or something?!"

"Sadly, no. Just dodge!" Byleth answered as she looks up to see the tentacle about to hit her, which she quickly rolls around to dodge the attack and gets up as she grabs hold of Dimitri's hand and the two continue running

Dimitri sees a massive tree, where his eyes widen as he gets an idea and says, "I got an idea!"

Before Byleth could reply to that, he lets go of her hand and runs to that tree as he kicks it down, which is enough to fall to create a block between them and the monster.

"Good idea." Byleth told him.

"Thanks." Dimitri replied, and asked, "We need to find somewhere to hide!"

"In that case, how about an abandoned warehouse?" Byleth suggested, until they hear chainsaw noises, where she screams, "That thing can turn its arm into a chainsaw too?!"

"Forget the warehouse. Let's just run." Dimitri says, petrified by the chainsaw noises.

"Got it!" Byleth blurted out as they continued on running.

("Now... where on Earth should we hide?!") Dimitri thinks while trying to avoid tripping over something

"That thing's relentless." Byleth shouted.

"You're not wrong!" Dimitri blurted while trying to remain focused

Monster screams again as it creates another fireball and throws it right at the duo.

"Dodge!" Byleth shouted as she pushed Dimitri down to the ground while the fireball missed and hit the dirt.

"You alright?" Dimitri asked her.

"I'm fine! Let's just keep running!" Byleth tells him as she gets up quickly, and helps Dimitri up by grabbing his hand.

Dimitri struggles to his feet and says, "Is there anything this fiend can't do?!" while continuing to run.

Byleth turns around while noticing a massive eyeball on its shoulder, where she says, "How about this!?" and throws her knife accurately to the eyeballs thanks to her father's training on throwing knives.

The monster screams distortedly in pain as it collapses to the ground and covers the eyeball with its hand as it's bleeding with a mix of blood and fluids.

"Go! Go!" Byleth told him, "This is our chance!"

"Right! Where to?!" Dimitri asked her.

Byleth desperately looks around and notices the bushes, which she gets an idea and says, "Hide!" As she pushes Dimitri to the bushes and jumps in as well as she tells him, "Shhh..."

Dimitri nods in agreement as they kept quiet the entire time.

The monster awakens, looks around, and uses its tentacles as a grapple as it goes away.

"Thank god... it's gone..." Dimitri whispers in relief

"Yeah..." Byleth whispered, "We can rest easy now."

"What should we do?" Dimitri asked her.

"We should continue finding a cure," Byleth told him, "Let's move."

"R-Right!" Dimitri agreed.

The two got out of their hiding spot and continue on walking through the wasteland of an island, without realising a certain woman is spying on them...
