CHAPTER 18

THIRD PERSON POV

The new year had started very well for the 7 boys. They were on a break after all! No need to wake up early every morning, no need to spend hours in the practice room, no need to go to the studio to record. They were just relaxing all day.

Even if it was just for a week, they were happy about it. Taehyung was also thankful for this free time which he got to spend majorly with Jungkook. The two watched movies, played video games, Jungkook tried teaching Taehyung how to cook but let's just say it didn't end up too well and currently, both were sprawled on Taehyung's bed after having cleaned up the mess in the kitchen.

"I'm so tired!" Taehyung exclaimed. "I'm never cooking again, that's for sure!"

"You have no right to complain! I'm more tired than you! Who knew teaching you to cook could be so exhausting?" Jungkook retorted.

"Not my fault I forgot to put the lid on the mixer before turning it on," Taehyung defended himself with a pout.

"Yeah? And whose fault is it then?" Jungkook mocked.

"Ok maybe it was my fault," the brunette surrendered, laughing as the scene of the tomato sauce splashing all over the kitchen replayed in his mind. "But you gotta admit it was kinda funny, especially when you got hit with half a tomato directly in the face." Taehyung started laughing even harder.

"Yeah, it was so fun to scrub every corner of that kitchen for 2 hours after getting scolded by Jin hyung!" Jungkook exclaimed sarcastically whilst rolling his eyes.

"Well it wouldn't have taken so much time if you hadn't decided to start a food fight with me!" Taehyung shot back.

"Right? Well, I wouldn't have started anything if you were not laughing at me for being covered in red sauce!" Jungkook accused.

"Don't blame me for that! You looked like Red Tornado," he said, laughing yet again.

"Hyung you-" Jungkook started and jumped on him, pinning him to the bed and both started wrestling playfully.

What had happened was that they had decided to make pizza and since they didn't have any ready-made sauce, they had decided to make their own. But well, Taehyung had forgotten to place the lid and the mixer had ejected all its content over the place, a major part of it covering Jungkook since he had been working on the dough close to it while Taehyung had ducked down behind a cabinet when the eruption happened.

When the older had emerged from his hiding place, the first thing he had seen was a baffled Jungkook covered in red sauce. He had begun laughing so hard at the sight that he hadn't noticed Jungkook grabbing the packet of flour and chucking the white powder at him.

Jungkook had stood there laughing at Taehyung who had looked like a snowman. And Taehyung, infuriated, had thrown fistfuls of grated cheese at him. And that's how they had started a food fight with every ingredient they could find on the table before them. It had gotten even more intense when they had begun taking more ingredients from the cabinets and shelves.

In the end, the whole kitchen had been covered in red and white with random food, torn packets of spices and opened containers of herbs laying around and the two boys covered in said ingredients. They both had been looking like a mess, almost unrecognisable, considering the amount of flour and tomato sauce on their faces.

Their food fight had gone for around half an hour before being interrupted by Seokjin's shrill scream. It had only been then that the two had realised the absolute mess they had created. They had had to stand through an hour of being scolded by Seokjin for wasting food and causing a disaster in his sacred kitchen. The oldest had then forced them to clean up the place and make it as shiny as it had been before they had stepped into it.

It had been a bother to tidy up the whole kitchen and scrub the persistent stains but they had fun doing so since they had been doing it together. And that's how they ended up on Taehyung's bed, bickering over whose fault it was.

As Taehyung tried pushing Jungkook off of him, the latter brought his face close to him, sniffing his skin. "What the hell are you doing?!" Taehyung asked, confused over what was the Jungkook, who was fighting with him seconds ago, now doing.

"You smell like pizza and lavender," Jungkook chuckled. He let his body fall onto Taehyung's. The latter caught him, wrapping his arms around him.

"Well, yeah, I spent half an hour bathing but the smell is still there. And the lavender must be from my body wash," he explained.

"Hmm smells good," Jungkook mumbled, taking in the scent as he snuggled closer to Taehyung who was now completely flustered. He pushed him away a little while clearing his throat, attempting to regain his composure and cool down his heated cheeks.

"Umm there's this festival or something for the New Year tomorrow. Wanna go with me?" Taehyung asked him to divert the topic away from Jungkook's current strange attraction to his scent.

Jungkook thought for a moment and then shook his head. "Sorry, can't. I was thinking about visiting my parents tomorrow. I'll be gone all day."

"Oh ok," Taehyung replied, a bit disappointed. But well, he can't stop the younger from going to his parents. He's always missing them. Although he did hope that he would postpone it for the day after just so he could accompany Taehyung but that didn't happen.

That's how, the next day, Taehyung found himself being dragged by Jimin to some ferris wheel in the middle of the fair. "I don't want to go on it!" He complained, trying to pry his hand away.

"Just because you're not accompanied by your lover boy doesn't mean you can't have some fun with me," Jimin replied.

Taehyung rolled his eyes. "He's not my lover boy. And I don't want to get on this... thing because I just ate a few moments ago," he defended.

"Yeah right, just admit you're scared!" Jimin retorted, releasing the younger's hand to cross his arms over his chest.

"No, I'm not!" Taehyung exclaimed, clearly offended. Truth to be told, he was a little scared, considering how huge this ferris wheel was compared to all the others he had been on but he was not going to tell that to Jimin.

"Let's go!" Taehyung said, grabbing Jimin's hand and dragging him to the line. Jimin smirked to himself, he knew very well that that would've been Taehyung's reaction on being accused of being scared to go on the ferris wheel.

They had been waiting in line for fifteen minutes already and the wheel finally came to a stop before them, the previous occupants starting to get out one by one as others got in. Jimin and Taehyung were next, with the former excited and the latter a little anxious.

However, before they could get in, both froze as the door opened to let out two individuals. An average height woman with tanned skin and a taller but younger man with black hair and familiar doe eyes came out of the small box. Even though both were wearing masks, Taehyung could tell they were both smiling widely at each other from the way their eyes crinkled and twinkled. None of them had noticed the two friends who stood there like statues.

"J-jungkook?" Taehyung uttered, eyes wide with hurt reflecting in them. Had Jungkook lied to him about visiting his parents because he wanted to go with Haesoo instead?

The aforementioned snapped his head to the side at the sound of his name being called. His eyes widened as well as his smile dropped. "O-oh...hyung," he said, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.

Before Taehyung could say anything else, him and Jimin got shoved to the side as someone else pushed past them to get into the ferris wheel, mumbling, "move if you don't wanna get in. Geez."

Haesoo, who seemed completely oblivious of the situation, brightly exclaimed, "Jiminie! Taehyungie! What a surprise to see you both here!"

"Well, it's a surprise for us too," Jimin answered in a sickeningly sweet voice, almost sarcastic, as he glared at Jungkook without being too obvious. "Weren't you visiting your parents today, Jungkook?" He asked mockingly.

Taehyung who had been looking down for a while now snapped his head back up to catch Jungkook's reaction. "Y-yeah..." he replied. "I'll be going a little later than planned actually."

Before Jimin could throw in another sarcastic remark, Haesoo spoke up, "It's because of me actually."

Jimin had this urge of saying, 'yeah we can see that,' but he held his tongue as it would be rude.

"I was talking with him last night and he said he was visiting his parents who lived in Busan today. I told him my parents also lived there and I was also planning on visiting them soon and he insisted on taking me there himself since he's already going today," she clarified further.

"That's such a coincidence, noona!" Jungkook beamed. "See, you won't have to take the train for hours thanks to me."

"Yeah but why are you going later anyways?" Jimin asked. During the whole exchange, Taehyung had been incredibly quiet. He felt slightly betrayed and hurt that Jungkook had refused to come to the fair with him but instead went with this girl who he had known for barely over a month.

"Noona wanted to buy some presents for her parents, so we were just shopping for gifts. When we were done, we noticed the huge ferris wheel. It could be seen from a great distance away! And since noona wanted to try it, we decided to come here," Jungkook explained.

"Oh I see," Jimin simply said, a bitter tone in his voice that went unnoticed by the pair. "Anyway, it was nice seeing you but you'll excuse us, Taehyung and I have to go through this queue all over now," he added, taking a still shocked Taehyung and dragging him away.

"It was nice seeing you both too outside of work!" Haesoo called out after them.

As the two friends walked away, more like Taehyung being pulled by Jimin who was stomping away, the younger saw Jungkook throwing an arm over Haesoo's shoulder and taking her to his car. Both were smiling and laughing while carrying on their earlier discussion.

Jungkook seemed totally unfazed, like nothing had happened, like he hadn't been caught by Taehyung at the festival when he had clearly refused to accompany him to it the night before. The brunette felt hurt at that.

Jimin came to an abrupt stop in a secluded area where only the two of them stood. He released Taehyung from his hold and threw his arms in the air in exasperation as he exclaimed, "the nerves of this guy, I tell you! Going to the fair with her when he said he would be visiting his parents today! He's lucky I didn't drag him by his ear in front of everyone!"

Taehyung looked at him confused. "Why are you acting like that when I should be the one upset right now?" He asked.

"It's just that he keeps behaving like an idiot! How is my ship going to sail if he keeps messing up everything?! He makes me wanna whoop his ass for being stupid!" Jimin exclaimed, making Taehyung let out a hearty laugh. This in turn made Jimin smile.

"You have been looking at ARMY's tweets a lot lately, haven't you?" Taehyung giggled, referencing to Jimin's unusual way of speaking.

"Yeah, it's how youngsters speak nowadays and I gotta be trendy, you know," he replied and both cracked up again.

"So, you're not upset?" The shorter male asked once the laughter died down.

Taehyung shook his head. "I'm a little disappointed but sulking over it won't do me any good, will it?"

"That's the Taehyung I know!" Jimin cheered while throwing an arm over the younger's shoulder, which was rather comical considering the obvious height difference. Taehyung had to bend his knees a little.

"Come on, let's keep enjoying ourselves and forget about them!" Jimin declared and dragged Taehyung around.

They did have a lot of fun, playing games, eating and watching street performances. Taehyung was smiling all the time but he still felt a pang in his chest. He had decided that he wouldn't bother anyone with his problems anymore and that's why everytime Jimin asked whether he was okay, he smiled and said he had never been so fine.

The older knew him better than that and could tell that the events from earlier still troubled him but he let it slide and focused on making Taehyung as happy as he could. Watching the younger happily eat a fishcake, he felt content as his best friend.

Taehyung also noticed the effort Jimin was putting in making him happy. He often thought that it was destiny that brought them together. He really couldn't have got anyone who understood him or supported him the way Jimin did.

Both were thankful to have each other as best friend and they knew for sure that they would stick by the other's side no matter what because that's what a best friend does.

>>>>>♡<<<<<

We all need a best friend like Jimin! *sigh*
And if you think I'm whipped for Vmin's friendship, then you're totally right coz I really wanna have a friendship like that. But then again, who doesn't?

Anyway, I stayed up all night doing like 6 or 7 essays and I woke up late and started having a horrible stomach ache (gosh I hate my life) so I'm sorry for updating a little late today.

But I also wanted to inform that I was thinking about switching to updating on Saturdays only once again. I thought I would be able to manage school and writing but I'm getting so much school work that I barely have time for myself!

Still, thank you so much for reading! All votes and comments are deeply appreciated and I love youuuu♡♡♡♡
