THIRD PERSON POV

It was the day everyone had been awaiting. All the boys were as nervous as excited. They had just finished their last rehearsal and they were heading back to the hotel to get some rest before getting ready for the red carpet.

After being urged by Jimin, Taehyung decided to head with Jungkook to the younger's room. Taehyung at first doubted that it would be a good idea to keep Jungkook away from Haesoo because he could not possibly isolate him from all human contact. That would not be fair. But he decided to go along with it after having been convinced by Jimin.

The now brown-haired boy -- the silver colour had begun to fade shortly after the comeback and he had got it dyed to a rather dirty blonde, almost brown, colour -- crashed onto the bed the moment he entered Jungkook's hotel room, eliciting a small chuckle from the younger.

He closed the door behind him before running up to where Taehyung lay flat on his stomach on the bed and jumped on him, making the poor boy let out a groan as he tried pushing the stronger boy off of him. "Ge-get up, y-you muscle pig!" He cried, his voice getting muffled by the mattress which was pressing against his mouth.

Jungkook giggled and rolled off of him to land beside him and the older turned on his back, taking in exaggeratedly deep breaths. "You almost killed me there!" He exclaimed, making Jungkook laugh out loud again at his hyung's dramatic antics.

Taehyung looked at Jungkook laughing by his side, the sight bringing a fond smile to his own lips. After a while, the younger quieted down, a comfortable silence settling between the two as Jungkook stared up at the ceiling. Taehyung's eyes remained glued to his side profile and it was after some minutes that the black-haired male turned his head to his side and looked at the older who had been staring at him for way longer than he should have. "Nervous for tonight, hyung?" He asked, breaking the silence.

Taehyung chuckled at that. "What do you think?"

Jungkook just chuckled back at him, knowing all too well that his question had been a stupid one. They were all extremely nervous about this, almost anxious about anything going wrong. It's not like it was their first time attending an american award show - they had been to the Billboard Music Awards earlier that year - but it was the first time they would be performing at one and the thought had their nerves in a mess. Sure it was exciting but also nerve-wracking.

Another wave of silence settled over them but that one didn't last long as the bell to the room rang a few times. Jungkook got up from his spot to open the door and was surprised to see their stylists standing there. He looked at his watch and said, "but it's still so early. Do we have to get ready already?"

One of them nodded, explaining that they had decided to leave earlier than scheduled due to the traffic that might delay them. "I think you were sent a text about it, if I'm not wrong," she also added as the boy let them in. He took out his phone from his pocket and checked his messages.

And certainly there was a message about them having to leave sooner than planned. Well you can't blame him for not having seen it, he rarely opened his messages anyway.

Being aware of Taehyung's presence in Jungkook's room - he had let them know earlier that he would be getting ready there itself - the older's own stylists had headed there as well. It wasn't too long before both of them were clad in all black clothes with their make-up done and hair styled perfectly, somehow managing to be even more good-looking than they already were.

"Wow hyung! You look so handsome!" Jungkook gushed. The younger fanboying over Taehyung's angelic looks was a common occurrence and everyone was used to it already.

The older opened his eyes and looked up from where he was sitting in front of the mirror while his stylist was adding a few final touches to his look. His dark eyes swept over the ravenette, his breath almost getting stuck in his throat as he stared at the breathtaking boy before him.

"You look amazing too, Jungkook," he finally replied, trying his best to sound as casual as possible so that he would not scare him off.

The aforementioned gave him a cheeky grin while cutely toying with the hem of his black coat. "I feel flattered to hear that from you," he said, causing a low chuckle to escape Taehyung's lips.

It wasn't long before Jungkook and Taehyung, along with the other boys, were sat in the car on their way to the venue. They thankfully reached on time and stepped onto the red carpet, all of them extremely nervous but the cheers from fans, that reached their ears the moment they stepped out of the car, calmed down their erratic nerves.

When it was time to get changed into their fancy outfits for their performance, Taehyung subtly - well, at least what he thought to be subtly - stuck to Jungkook's side for the most part. As they waited for their turn to step up on the stage, he kept engaging in conversations with him, even going as far as interrupting or interfering in the younger's conversation with his stylist, namely Haesoo.

This behaviour of Taehyung's was quite childish and immature and he didn't need anyone to tell him that because he, himself, was very much aware of that. Nevertheless, his rational, mature side seemed to have been overpowered by the part of him that didn't want to lose Jungkook now that he had been given a second chance to make things right.

Driven by this insecure and fearful side, he urged his own stylists to quickly wrap up their work, using the pretext of being too nervous to be able to sit still. Unable to see through his act, they did as told, quickly touching up his makeup and hair. During the whole process, the brunette's mind was plagued with one memory only. That of Jungkook and Haesoo smiling and laughing while having a random discussion about Shugo Chara.

As much as it might seem childish, the two had really bonded over this particular anime which brought forward further conversations about multiple other anime that they had watched. All of that eventually led to them organising frequent anime nights to watch their new favourite releases together.

Shaking his head, Taehyung drove the thought out of his mind. Dwelling on it wouldn't change anything, he had to act in order to prevent it from happening again. Not that he was against Jungkook making friends, he just didn't want to take the risk of having history repeating itself.

So that single thought was what encouraged him to walk towards the pair who were, as expected, talking about Shugo Chara. Taehyung gave a forced smile as he approached them.

Jungkook immediately started gushing to him, "hyung, you won't believe how much Haesoo-noona and I have in common! You always tell me that I'm a baby for liking Shugo Chara but it's noona's favourite anime as well! She also thinks that Code Geass is far better than Death Note and oh! She also LOVES banana milk like me and-" Jungkook went on and on about their similarities but Taehyung had already tuned him out.

The older male only focused on holding back this sudden urge he had to roll his eyes. So what? I have many more things in common with you than she does.

A few minutes later, a hand waving in front of his face brought him back to reality and Jungkook's chirpy voice entered his ears once again. "Hyung, are you okay?" He asked, a look of concern on his face upon noticing Taehyung's far away gaze.

He didn't realise that the boy was only spacing out and instead, he thought that he was feeling unwell. This gave Taehyung a terrific idea. He held his head with one hand as he allowed his eyes to lose their focus, making him appear as if he was about to faint.

His other hand weakly found its way to Jungkook's shoulder in an attempt to make it look as if he couldn't keep his balance. His acting seemed to be genuine enough as the younger immediately held him tightly by the waist, doing his best so that Taehyung wouldn't fall and that was not very hard since he was a lot stronger than the older.

"Hyung! Hyung! What's happening? Are you okay?" Jungkook asked, the worry clear in his voice as he brought Taehyung to a nearby couch.

The older decided to step up his game a little and put his acting skills to the test. He pretended to be hyperventilating, breathing rapidly and heavily as if he was having troubles with his respiration.

"H-hyung! Oh my god, what's happening to you?" Jungkook asked again, his eyes wide as he tried keeping calm but the tone of his voice gave away how anxious he was upon seeing his hyung like this. "Noo-noona please bring me a bottle of water! Quickly!" He ordered urgently while patting Taehyung's cheek in an attempt to keep him from fainting.

The older started feeling bad for making him worried like this. Seeing Haesoo and Jungkook together had taken all rationality out of him but now that he was hearing Jungkook getting so worked up over him, when he was totally fine, he felt his heart sink. However, he couldn't deny the small feeling of joy he felt while witnessing how much Jungkook cared for him.

"Drink this, hyung," Jungkook's jittery voice came as he brought the mouth of a water bottle close to Taehyung's lips. With a hand at the back of his head, the younger tipped it back a little just so he could easily make Taehyung take a sip of the cool liquid.

The older took a few sips and let out some coughs while Jungkook gently patted his back. He handed the bottle over to him and Taehyung took it, drinking some more water. "Are you feeling better? What's wrong?" The ravenette queried, eyes wide and filled with pure concern for the older.

Taehyung nodded weakly. "Yeah, I was just feeling a bit suffocated," he replied.

"Wanna go out to get some air?" Jungkook suggested, to which Taehyung immediately nodded. He couldn't ask more than having the younger to himself for a bit, especially right now.

Jungkook grabbed Taehyung and helped him walk out even though the latter kept insisting that he could walk on his own. When they were finally out, Jungkook asked, "is it because you're nervous?"

Taehyung only nodded, waiting for Jungkook to speak further and sure enough, he did.

"Don't be. You heard ARMYs cheering for us earlier, right? They're here for us. Just trust them and yourself and everything will be fine," Jungkook assured.

Taehyung smiled warmly. "You grew up so much, Jungkookie. I remember I was the one who had to reassure you like that before our stage performances 7 years ago," he chuckled fondly, his hand moving to ruffle the younger's hair but then settling on simply tickling his chin since he had just got his hair done for the performance.

"7 years ago? We had not even met back then," Jungkook said, tilting his head in confusion, a look of puzzlement plastered to his face. It was only then that Taehyung realised what year he was in and what he had just said.

"S-seven who? I d-don't know any seven. Where did 7 come from? I meant 14. I- no, I-I meant 4, it's just we-we're in 2017 and it ends by 7, so that's the only seven there. It's SEVENteen, SEVEN... you see? Of- of course it's been 4 years since our debut, we're not in 2020. Why would we be in 2020? It's 2017 alright, 4 years from our debut which happened in 2013. Yep!" Taehyung quickly babbled in panic, not sure if he was even making sense.

He was almost certain that Jungkook would find out the truth, various scenarios - of how mad he would be when he would know about it - playing through his mind when his thoughts got interrupted by the younger's cheerful laugh. Taehyung just looked at him completely baffled.

It wasn't until he recovered from his laughing fit that he spoke. "Hyung, I've never seen you so nervous before! You're normally relatively composed and just look at you now. Relax! Everything will be alright. But thanks anyway, the little nervousness I had just vanished with the way you just ranted over nothing," he chuckled softly.

Taehyung imperceptibly sighed in relief on seeing that Jungkook didn't suspect anything. Of course he wouldn't! Silly me! People don't travel in time everyday, after all!

Before any of them could say something, a man in a black suit approached them, heavily panting. "O-oh! Tae-taehyung!" He said, trying to catch his breath at the same time.

"I've been looking for you everywhere. I had something important to discuss with you but that can wait. You're up next on stage in 3 minutes. Hurry up, both of you!" Their manager informed them before turning on his heels, expecting the two youngest of the group to follow him.

Once they were under the stage, putting on their in-ear microphones and getting in position, waiting to be elevated on the stage to begin their performance, Jungkook turned to face Taehyung. He reached his hand forward and the older understood that he was going for their special handshake. He smiled at that.

The ravenette then looked him in the eyes, his eyes themselves giving a warm and comforting gaze to the older while his lips curved into an equally soothing smile as he mouthed the following words,

"I believe in you, hyung. You're amazing."
