Chapter Two: Neverland May Not Be What it Appears

After the disturbing incident with the deer the group continued their trek through the woods in silence. Finn led the way with Clarke and Octavia trailing him. Jamie walked in between the two idiots she had come to adore over the years, keeping a closer eye on the woods than she had been prior to crossing the deer.

"You know what I'd like to know?" Finn asked, breaking the silence. "Why send us down today? After ninety seven years, what's changed?"

"Who cares! I'm just glad they did." Octavia smiled as she swung around a tree. "I woke up rotting in a cell and now I'm spinning in a forest!"

As Jasper walked by Octavia, she was still hanging off the tree, he smiled and nodded to her. She let go and started walking side by side with him as Jamie stayed in line with Monty.

"Maybe they found something on a satellite. You know, maybe like an old weather satellite." Monty replied, deep in thought as the group continued.

"It wasn't a satellite. The Ark is dying." Clarke announced, remaining focused on everything in front of her. Jamie and Monty exchanged a worried glance before looking back at the blonde, who was now leading the group.

"With the current population there's roughly three months left of life support. Maybe four now that we're gone." Clarke continued, still oblivious to the tension she caused.

Finn glanced at Jamie before jogging up to Clarke's side. "So, that was the secret they had you locked up to keep? Why they kept you in solitary?"

Clarke side glanced him without commenting.

"Floated your old man?"

She took a staggering breath, jumping slightly when Jamie appeared on her other side interested in hearing what Clarke had to say.

"My..." Clarke glanced at Jamie before correcting herself. "Our father was the engineer who discovered the flaw. He thought people had a right to know. The council disagreed, our mother disagreed. They were afraid it would cause a panic. We were going to go public anyway when Wells..." Clarke sighed and shook her head.

"What? Turned your dad in?"

Clarke nodded absently to Finn while Jamie turned her gaze back to the woods. It was always hard to hear anything about Clarke's dad. Both girls were very close to him. He practically raised Jamie since she was five when they took her in. "Anyway, the guard showed up before we could. That's why today. That's why it's worth it. Even if we all die at least they bought themselves some more time."

"They're gonna kill more people aren't they?" Monty's voice was quiet as he brought up the question on everyone's mind.

They were all quiet before Octavia picked up her pace and passed them. "Good. After what they did to me I say float them all!"

Jasper's eyes widened and he shook his head as he chased after her. "You don't mean that!"

Finn sighed before turning to Clarke. "We have to warn them."

She glanced at Jamie and took another staggering breath. "That's what our father said."

Something up ahead caught Jamie's eye so she took the few steps it took to reach Jasper. "Oh, damn." The boy muttered, not tearing his gaze away from the scene. "I love Earth."

"Octavia! What the hell are you doing?" Clarke yelled out to the promiscuous girl as she stripped down to her tank top and underwear.

She grinned before diving off of the cliff and landing in the lake below them. They all ran down to the water's edge watching Octavia with wide eyes.

"Octavia, we can't swim!" Monty called out.

"No, but we can stand." Octavia replied with a grin as she stood up in the water.

Her enthusiasm quickly got the group moving and soon they were all shedding their layers of clothes. All but one.

"Wait, there's not supposed to be a river here." Clarke mumbled, not touching any of her clothes yet.

"Well, there is so take off your damn clothes." Finn told her with a smirk as he watched Jamie drop her coat.

"Octavia! Get out of the water!" Jasper yelled out, gaining the group's attention. "Get out of the water now! Octavia!" The panic in Jasper's voice sent chills down Jamie's spine as her eyes landed on what Jasper saw moving in the water. She gasped and took a step closer to the edge, eyes trained on the large shadow moving quickly towards Octavia.

"What the hell is that?" Monty asked, seconds before it grabbed Octavia and yanked her under the water. There were bubbles coming from where Octavia was pulled under and the seconds seemed to crawl by as everyone watched in horror. She wasn't coming back up. Without a second thought Jamie dove into the water, chasing the beast.

"Jamie!" They called out before Finn moved to jump in after her.

"What are you going to do?" Jasper asked Finn, his eyes widening when he realized the boy was going to follow his best friend.

"Try not to get eaten!" Finn replied, eyes focused on the shadow of the beast and Jamie's form as she finally reached it. Her arm slid around Octavia's waist and she pulled the younger Blake as hard as she could with one arm while her other arm started beating the beast on the head near where it had Octavia. They were still under water while fighting with the monster although Jamie fought to get Octavia some air. After a few agonizing moments of fighting the thing, they surfaced and she managed to free Octavia but the beast then latched onto her own arm causing her to scream out in pain while she still struggled to push Octavia towards the shore. Octavia managed to put a few feet between her, the beast, and the now struggling Jamie. "Come on Jamie!" She cried out, voice tinged with fear.

"No!" Clarke called out to stop Finn from diving in. She grabbed his wrist and pulled him with her towards a large section of rocks. "If we distract it then it might let her go! Help me!" Clarke called out frantically. With all of them working on it they were able to flip a large rock into the water. The beast immediately released Jamie's arm and started swimming to the source of the splash.

"It worked! It let her go!" Finn called out as they all ran to the rocks the girls would end up on. Jamie was working on swimming towards the shore but her throbbing arm and lack of breath slowed her down. She seemed to be somewhat flailing in the water as she was choking up what she swallowed, still trying to catch her breath.

"Get to the shore, now!" Jasper yelled out, eyes trained on both girls. After watching them struggle a moment longer he gave up and dove in beside Octavia, wrapping his arms around her. "I got you." He mumbled, trying to pull her to the shore.

"It's coming back! It's heading right for you guys!" Monty yelled, the fear in his stomach growing as his best friend still thrashed in the water with her injured arm.

"Come on, Jamie! Keep moving!" Jasper shouted over his shoulder while he pushed Octavia onto the rocks.

After Octavia was up on the rocks Jasper turned and grabbed Jamie by her waist and pulled her to him. He climbed up onto the rocks with help from Monty while Finn climbed in and pulled Jamie up onto the rocks, on him, and out of harm's way with no time to spare.

"Thank you." Octavia mumbled breathlessly, wrapping her arms around Jasper and holding him tight. Octavia turned then and watched Jamie, making sure her other savior was okay.

Clarke ripped off a piece of Jasper's shirt and wrapped it around Octavia's leg. "You're going to be okay. Both of you will be fine." She looked up at Jamie and frowned when she saw the amount of blood the blonde lost. Jamie was now considerably paler as she choked up the water she inhaled, still unable to regain her breath. She leaned back into Finn, cringing away from him as he tied a piece of his own shirt around her wound. "Shhh. You're okay. I got you, you're okay now." Finn whispered to her as he patted her back lightly.

Monty shook his head with a small smirk on his lips. "Note to self. Next time, save the girl."

Sometime during the night Jamie awoke to see Clarke wandering away from their group. She slowly pulled herself to her feet and off of Monty. She glanced down as Octavia shifted away from Jamie's abandoned spot and snuggled further onto Jasper. Jamie grinned at the sight before following Clarke. She stopped beside her cousin and leaned into her a bit while they both looked around in awe at the neon forest around them.

Clarke wrapped an arm around Jamie's shoulder and they rested their heads against the other's like they often did when they were younger.

"What you did today was stupid. You could have died out there, Jaymes."

Jamie winced at the pain in Clarke's voice before looking up at her. "You haven't called me Jaymes since father..." She trailed off not needing to bring up the most recent death their family suffered. She cleared her throat and shook her head slightly. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."

Clarke smiled at her and kissed her temple. "I know you didn't. Besides, I know why you did it. I can't blame you for protecting her."

"I can't believe this is the conversation you two choose to have when you're looking at this."

They both jumped and turned to see Finn leaning against a nearby tree. "I mean, this is pretty cool."

"Yeah, looks pretty toxic too." Clarke replied with an arch in her brow.

"Bonus points if it can kill you." Jamie added with a smirk.

Finn rolled his eyes and walked over to the girls. He held out a leaf he had cupped his hands to Jamie. "Here."

"Did you go to the river?" Clarke asked, concern crossing her features.

Finn smiled lightly as he handed the leaf to Jamie. "I figured it was worth losing a finger or two." He watched her take a timid drink before sighing. "Really? You call that a sip?"

Jamie grinned and took another drink before handing it to Clarke. "Well, thank you Finn."

"You think this means we're all going to grow two heads now?"

Both girls laughed as Clarke took another drink from the leaf.

Finn smiled at their laughter. "What do you know, they can laugh. Come on, you guys have to see this." He stopped when he found what he was looking for, crouching down towards the ground with both girls in tow. "That's a toe and from what I can tell whatever it is, is walking on two feet." He looked up and arched a brow as the girls looked down at the footprint.

"My guess? Monkeys." Finn added with a smirk, watching as both girls laughed again.

"I'm sorry, it's just...according to everything I've read there were no bipedal animals nowhere near here. Certainly not monkeys." Clarke said; her eyes still trained on the footprint.

"Right. You read anything about glow in the dark forests or man eating snakes?"

Jamie snorted when Finn finished and he immediately smiled at her. This was the beginning of a wonderful friendship between them, he could feel it.

The next morning found the group at the edge of the river again. Finn and Jasper stood up on a rock that lay higher up and Finn was holding a rope of vines, looking rather uneasy as the rest of the group watched them.

"You wanted to go first so quit stalling! Mount Weather awaits!" Clarke yelled out.

Finn glanced down at her, a small smile on his lips before he returned his gaze to the other side.

"Just hang on until the apogee and you'll be fine." Jasper told him with a light pat on his shoulder.

"The apogee? Like the Indians right?" Finn asked with a grin, eyes still trained on the rope in his hands.

"Apogee not apache." Jasper responded with a frown.

"He knows! Today, Finn!" Clarke yelled out again causing the others to laugh at his hesitation.

Finn grinned down at Clarke. "Aye aye captain!" He looked back at Jasper with a smirk. "See you on the other side."

"Wait!" Jasper grabbed the rope, glancing at Octavia before looking back to Finn. "Let me. I can do it."

Finn smiled and nodded, releasing the rope. "I knew there was a badass in there somewhere." He patted Jasper's shoulder and nodded to the boy.

Jasper held the rope tightly watching the other side of the river anxiously. He glanced down at Octavia before his eyes shifted to Jamie. She smiled at him and held up her thumb. "You can do it Jazz!"

He smiled lightly, took a deep breath, and nodded to her.

"Hey, it's okay to be afraid Jasper." Finn mumbled, stepping closer to him. "The trick is not fighting it."

Jasper nodded, eyes still focused on where he needed to land. "See you on the other side." He remarked, looking down at Octavia before hurling himself off the rock with a victorious scream.

Jamie grabbed Monty's hand anxiously and held her breath until the boy she thought of as a little brother reached the other side safely. As soon as his feet hit the ground she released the breath and screamed excitedly for him.

"We are apogee!" Jasper yelled out in success.

The group all cheered for him as he jumped up and down victoriously.

"You did it Jasper!" Clarke shouted with a broad smile.

"Let's go Spunky, you're up!" Finn called, handing the rope to Jamie as she climbed up beside him. "Spunky?"

He grinned and shrugged lightly, helping her move into position. "You're feisty, I thought Spunky would suit you."

She smiled, eyes trained on Jasper, as she suddenly felt scared at what she was about to do.

"Come on Jamie Jam you got this!" Jasper yelled out, still bouncing around from the adrenaline rush. He leaned over and held up a broken, wore down sign. "We did it! Mount Weather!"

They all watched in horror as a spear came from somewhere behind them and impaled Jasper. There was a collective yell for the boy as he got pinned to the tree behind him and his eyes fell to the spear.

"No!" Jamie shouted, instantly eager to soar to the other side with him. "Jasper!"

Finn wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to the ground. "Come on, Jamie!" He yelled in hopes that she would stop fighting his hold on her.

"Get down!" Monty shouted as he grabbed Octavia and pulled her down to the ground with him.

Clarke's eyes scanned the woods frantically. "We're not alone!"

Finn kept Jamie pinned to a rock beneath him as his eyes searched the woods for who could have thrown the spear.

"Jasper!" Jamie cried out in pain, her heart clinching at the thought of losing the boy.

"Jamie, Jamie!" Monty practically crawled over to the blonde and he grabbed her chin, forcefully pulling it towards him so she'd have to make eye contact with him. "We'll get him back okay? He'll be fine."

Her eyes were wide in panic and her heart was pounding in her chest which was pressed up against Finn's. She pulled her face away from Monty and turned back towards Jasper. "He's gone." She gasped before looking back at Monty. "Mon, he's gone."

His eyes searched the area that Jasper was just at and they all climbed to their feet when they heard Jasper scream. Finn grasped Jamie's waist tightly to ensure she stayed with them as his eyes scanned the trees with everyone else. "We'll get him back Jamie." Finn mumbled into her hair as she collapsed back against his chest.

Tears pooled in her eyes as she stared absently at the tree. There was only one thought repeating itself in her mind, one that wouldn't rest until they got him back. He's gone. Jasper's gone.

The walk back to the camp was silent. Finn and Clarke led the group while Monty kept a close eye on Jamie and Octavia from the rear. Jamie had an arm around Octavia's waist, helping to support the younger Blake.

They had been walking over an hour when Monty jogged up beside Jamie. He lifted her arm and shook his head. "Jamie, there's blood dripping down your hand."

Finn and Clarke both turned to look at the very pale Jamie and the group came to a stop. "I'm fine. Let's keep going, Jasper can't wait."

Finn sighed and stepped forward, tearing off another piece of his shirt. His eyes studied hers as he pulled off the bloodied fabric to replace it with the semi clean cloth in his hand.

"You have to take care of yourself first or you won't be able to save him." Finn mumbled quietly to her. He offered her a small smile before turning back around and continuing on. She watched him retreat before pulling Octavia closer to her. "You doing okay?"

Octavia nodded wrapping her own arm around Jamie's shoulder. "Thank you for everything you've done Jamie. I owe you my life."

Jamie glanced up at her and nodded, watching the ground as they continued.

Once they reached the camp they could hear yelling and the word fight stood out. Clarke and Finn picked up the pace but Octavia and Jamie weren't able to.

"Wells! Let him go!"

Jamie groaned and started pulling Octavia along faster when she heard Clarke's voice slice through the chants. When they walked into the camp they saw Murphy push Clarke away from the chancellor's son.

"Enough, Murphy!"

Jamie's eyes immediately went to Bellamy as he stepped in between Clarke and Murphy. He must have seen Octavia from his peripheral and he spun on his heel towards her.

"Octavia. Are you alright?" He asked, pulling her away from Jamie.

"Yeah. Because of her." Octavia nodded to Jamie as the blonde started walking towards the drop ship.

"Jamie! I need to bandage your hand!" Clarke yelled after her cousin only to be ignored. She sighed, eyes moving over to Monty.

Monty nodded in realization. "I got her." He quickly followed Jamie into the dropship as Clarke turned her attention to Bellamy when he started talking.

"Where's the food?"

Clarke glanced around the group of kids that were now focused on their conversation. "We didn't make it to Mount Weather."

Bellamy frowned slightly, stepping forward. "What the hell happened out there?"

Clarke shifted slightly when Jamie screamed from the ship. Finn ran to their makeshift entrance and stuck his head in. "Hey, you okay?"

"Yeah." Jamie mumbled, pushing her way past him, holding her bandaged hand to her chest.

Clarke watched her cousin make her way through the crowd only to plop down beside Octavia. The younger Blake dropped her head onto Jamie's shoulder and Clarke smirked before answering Bellamy's question. She turned back to him only to find him watching his sister and Jamie with mild curiosity.

"We were attacked."

Wells stepped closer to Clarke with a look of concern on his face. "Attacked? By what?"

"Not what. Who." Finn replied, stepping into the center of the circle with Clarke. "It turns out, when the last man from the ground died on the Ark, he wasn't the last grounder."

Everyone around them gasped with surprise and some started speaking quietly with each other. Jamie and Octavia exchanged a knowing glance before Octavia's head dropped back onto the blonde's shoulder.

"It's true." Clarke added, speaking over the murmurs. "Everything we thought we knew about the ground is wrong. There are people here, survivors. The good news is that means we can survive. The radiation won't kill us."

Finn scoffed and shook his head, looking around the group. "Yeah, the bad news is that the grounders will."

Wells looked around with a furrow in his brow. "Where's the kid with the goggles?"

"Oh, right. You don't know anyone's name except for Clarke. Jasper..." Jamie called out with venom in her words, "was hit. They took him."

Clarke sighed as her eyes shifted off the hostile blonde and returned to Wells. "Where's your wristband?"

"Ask him." Wells replied with a nod towards Bellamy.

"How many?" Clarke asked with wide eyes.

"Twenty four and counting!" Murphy called out in triumph, a big grin crossing his features.

Clarke shook her head, looking over the group in anger. "You idiots! Life support on the Ark is failing. That's why they brought us down here. They need to know the ground is survivable again, and we need their help against whoever is out there. If you take off your wristbands, you're not just killing them. You're killing us!"

Jamie rolled her eyes at her cousin's overreaction. She had actually considered cutting off her band earlier...

Bellamy glared at Clarke briefly before stepping up beside her. "We're stronger than you think." He turned back to the group of delinquents before him. "Don't listen to her! She's one of the privileged. If they come down she'll have it good. How many of you can say the same? We can take care of ourselves! That wristband on your arm? It makes you a prisoner. We are NOT prisoners anymore!" He paused as the crowd started to react. "They say they'll forgive your crimes. I say, you're not criminals! You're fighters, survivors! The grounders...should worry about us!"

Jamie arched a brow and looked down at Octavia who looked back at her just as impressed. Bellamy knew how to get the crowd excited and his words were definitely powerful. Clarke looked around in dismay before her and Finn walked over to where Octavia and Jamie were seated.

"What do we do now?" Finn asked the girls.

Clarke's gaze focused on Jamie as she replied. "Now, we go after Jasper."

Jamie nodded and slowly climbed to her feet. After nodding at Octavia she followed Clarke and Finn into the dropship.

"There you are. When my father said they didn't leave us anything, he really meant it." Wells stated, entering the large room they were in. Something on Wells' wrist caught Clarke's attention and she arched a brow at him in question. "It's just a scratch." He mumbled to her, looking away in shame.

"You're making friends fast." Clarke told him, glancing at Jamie as she spoke. "Keep it covered. It could get infected." Her eyes raked over the bag he had slung over his shoulder. "Nice pack."

Wells nodded in appreciation. "Yeah, seat belts and insulation. I also packed part of the parachute, figured we could use it to carry Jasper."

"Good. Give it to someone else, you're not coming with us."

Jamie let out a sharp laugh as Monty approached the group. Wells' frowned and took a step towards Clarke. "My ankle's fine."

"It's not your ankle, Wells, it's you."

"You came back for reinforcements, I'm gonna help." Wells maintained eye contact with Clarke as they spoke.

"Clarke, he's right. We need him and so far no one else has volunteered."

Jamie looked over at Finn wondering why he was always trying to be the peace maker in the group. He glanced at her before retreating from the dropship. Monty grinned and grabbed the pack off Wells.

"I'm sorry Monty but you're not going either." Clarke told the boy.

"Clarke!" Jamie broke her silence and took a defensive step towards her best friend.

"Like hell I'm not! Jasper's my best friend!" Monty recoiled and glanced at Jamie sending her a grateful nod for her support.

Clarke sighed, sparing a glance at Jamie before returning her focus to Monty. "You're too important. You were raised on the farm station and were recruited by engineering."

Monty shook his head in frustration. "So?"

"So, food and communication. What's up here," She pointed to Monty's head, "is gonna save us all. You figure out how to talk to the Ark and we'll bring Jasper back."

Jamie shrugged and hugged Monty tightly. "I'm sorry, Mon, she has a point. We'll bring him back."

"Be careful." He mumbled, squeezing her tighter before releasing her.

She nodded and turned to follow Clarke outside. Finn caught Jamie's eye and the girls made their way over to him.

"Hey, you ready?" Clarke asked with an arch in her brow.

Finn sighed before looking away from Clarke's gaze. "I'm not going anywhere and neither should either of you. That spear was thrown with pinpoint accuracy from three hundred feet away."

Jamie scoffed, her anger surfacing. "So what? We let Jasper die? That's not gonna happen. Space Walker? What a joke." She shook her head before stepping closer to him. "You think you're such an adventurer when really you're just a coward."

He looked taken aback before his eyes shifted the fire. "It's not an adventure Jamie. It's a suicide mission." His eyes met Jamie's harsh glare before he looked up to see Wells and Monty join them. "Build a wall, use the fallen trees." He directed to Wells.

Wells narrowed his eyes at the boy. "Build a wall. You use the fallen trees and I'll watch out for them." Wells nodded towards the girls before looking back at Finn.

"Shove it golden boy! We don't need you." Jamie retorted angrily.

"Jasper looked up to you." Monty stated, sad eyes looking at Finn.

Jamie shook her head, glancing at Octavia over Finn's shoulder. "Whatever. Do what you want Space Walker." She walked towards Octavia with Clarke in tow.

When they approached they heard Bellamy sigh before leaning closer to his sister. "You could have been killed."

"She would have been if Jasper and Jamie didn't jump in to pull her out." Clarke said as a greeting.

Octavia stood and made her way to Jamie's side. "You guys leaving?" She continued after Jamie nodded. "I'm coming too."

Bellamy turned towards the girl, anger contorting his features. "No, no! No way, not again."

"He's right. Your leg's just gonna slow us down." Clarke told her with a sympathetic smile before turning to Bellamy. "I'm here for you."

"Clarke, what are you doing?" Wells asked, joining the conversation.

Jamie rolled her eyes at his arrival, glancing at Bellamy before returning her gaze to Clarke.

"I hear you have a gun?" Clarke asked Bellamy with an arch in her brow. He lifted his shirt to reveal the weapon tucked into his jeans. "Good, follow us."

"And why would I do that?" He asked, his eyes shifting from Clarke to Jamie then returning to Clarke.

"Because you want them to follow you and right now they're thinking only one of us is scared." Clarke replied with a cocky grin.

Bellamy considered what she said before turning to face the group. "Murphy, come with me. Atom, my sister doesn't leave this camp. Is that clear?"

Octavia scoffed and turned to Bellamy. "I don't need a babysitter!"

He continued on as if she hadn't even spoken. "Anybody touches her and they answer to me." He turned back around and nodded at Clarke. "Let's go."

Jamie patted Octavia's arm before joining Clarke and exiting the camp. "Is your hand okay?" Clarke asked, concern clear in her voice.

"Yes, Clarke. My hand is fine." Jamie replied with another eye roll although she followed it with a thankful nod.

Wells matched their pace on the other side of Clarke. "Those guys aren't just bullies, Clarke. They're dangerous criminals."

"Why are you even here?" Jamie asked the chancellor's son, anger seeping into her tone once again.

Clarke glanced at Jamie before looking back at Wells. "I'm counting on it."

They walked in silence for a bit before the boys walking behind them sped up to catch up to them.

"Hey, hold up. What's the rush?" Bellamy asked as him and Murphy stepped around the trio, effectively stopping the group. "You don't survive a spear through the heart."

Jamie winced at his statement, her eyes shifting between Bellamy and Murphy.

Wells took a tentative step towards the two, putting himself between the girls and Bellamy. "Put the gun away Bellamy."

"Well, why don't you do something about it huh?" Murphy asked with a sickening grin.

Clarke shook her head as Jamie moved slightly in front of her. "Jasper screamed when they moved him. If the spear struck his heart he'd have died instantly."

"It doesn't mean we have time to waste." Jamie added glancing from Bellamy back to Murphy.

Bellamy's gaze shifted from one blonde to the next, completely overlooking Wells. "As soon as you take this wristband off we can go."

Clarke shifted nervously behind Jamie but kept up her brave façade. "The only way the Ark is gonna think I'm dead is if I'm dead. Got it?"

Bellamy's eyes narrowed at Clarke over Jamie's shoulder. "Brave princess."

"Hey, why don't you find your own nickname?"

Jamie instantly relaxed when she heard Finn's voice. He stepped up beside her and lightly dropped a hand on her shoulder. "You call this a rescue party? Got to split up and cover more ground." He stepped away from the guys, hand pulling Jamie closer to him. "Clarke, Jamie, come with me."

The girls quickly fell in line beside Finn as they continued on their journey. Jamie sent him a grateful smile. "Better late than never."

He smiled back down and nodded at her. "I like to think so."

Bellamy glanced down at Wells as they followed Finn and the girls. "Guess we got more in common than meets the eye huh?"

Wells shook his head, appalled at the thought. "We have nothing common."

"No? Both came down to protect someone we love."

Wells' eyes widened and he looked up at Bellamy with a furrow in his brow, wondering how Bellamy knew.

"Your secret's safe with me. Of course, it's worse for you. With Finn around neither of them even see you. It's like you're not even here." Bellamy shrugged as the words sunk in and Wells found himself regretting this journey.

Finn broke the silence after a while. "I've been thinking about Mount Weather. How come they didn't attack until Jasper crossed the river? It's not like we were being quiet and they didn't know we were there."

"They waited for us to cross." Clarke added as her brain started coming up with reasonable answers.

Jamie sighed before replying. "The river's a boundary." Finn and Clarke both looked at the pale blonde. "Which means Mount Weather is off limits."

"How are we gonna get those supplies? What are we gonna do for food?" Clarke asked, voicing the worry on their minds.

Another silence enveloped the trio until they came upon a small lake with a waterfall.

"Wow." Finn mumbled with a small smile.

Clarke smiled at him before shrugging. "We'll at least we don't have to worry about water."

Finn grinned deviously at Jamie. "Oh, yeah." He grabbed her good hand before grabbing Clarke's.

"Come on, Finn. We don't have time for this!" Clarke protested, trying to pull her hand free.

"Clarke, we've been hiking for hours. We need to take a break." He pulled the girls closer and closer to the water's edge, the grin never leaving his face.

"I'll take a break when we find Jasper. Come on." Clarke pleaded.

Finn ignored her plea and continued pulling them to the water.

"No, no! Finn! Don't!" Clarke gasped when Finn suddenly yanked them closer to him and they were both submerged in the water. "Damn it Finn!" Clarke immediately protested before letting herself relax in the water. "Oh, wow. Okay...maybe just a minute."

Jamie let her body float finally feeling relaxed for the first time since they landed.

"I think I know why you're so hell bent on finding Jasper. Why you're always taking care of everybody else."

Jamie looked up at Finn in question as Clarke replied. "Now you sound like our mother. Please, go on. This should be good. The delinquent psychiatrist."

A moment of silence passed as both girls watched Finn, waiting for his response. "You couldn't save your father."

Jamie abruptly looked away from him and her eyes landed on something so familiar she didn't know how it was possible for it to be real at first. "Jasper." She whispered, picking his goggles up from the water. "He was here."

Clarke peered over Jamie's shoulder before turning to Finn. "We should get the others."

"We're close." Finn added with a nod.
