Chapter Twelve: To the Bunker with Bellamy

Jamie groaned when Bellamy immediately shook his head at her. "Why not?"

He sighed before turning his attention to her, the first time he tore his eyes away from the grounder since she went up to see him. "Really, Jamie? Is that a serious question? How did you even find out about it?"

"Not important and you haven't even heard what I was going to say, thank you very much!" She poured as much sarcasm into each word she spoke to make sure he got her point but instead all she received was an eye roll. Her eyes flickered to the grounder and she smiled apologetically at him, already having created a plan to get him free.

Her and Octavia had snuck in a dozen times in the past week to give the grounder some food and water and were able to clean his wounds up a bit as well. Since Bellamy noticed the cleaner wounds however, there had been someone watching the grounder around the clock, making it harder for them to come up.

She hobbled closer to him with a plea in her eyes. "Please, please take me with you!"

He turned to her, already exasperated as he pointedly glanced at the makeshift crutches she had shoved under her arms.

She arched a brow at him and leaned closer to him with narrowed eyes. "What?"

He let out a sharp laugh and shook his head. "No, we don't need you hobbling around after us and potentially getting hurt or captured again."

"But Bell, I'm going crazy here. Like legitimately crazy! And these," She gestured down to the crutches before continuing, "are just for fashion. I don't even need them!"

"Jamie, you can't go. End of discussion." He turned to walk to the hatch and she swatted him with one of the crutches. He turned back with a small grin before taking a step towards her. "You seriously just hit me with that?"

"See, look at that, I have two weapons under my arms to help on our journey." She waggled her eyebrows at him and earned a groan in return as he turned once again to drop to the first floor of the dropship. The second he was down the ladder she looked at the grounder. "We'll come back for you." She whispered before heading down the ladder after Bellamy. He watched in mild fascination as she hopped down the ladder by herself after tossing her crutches down. He smirked before looking at Octavia.

"You're still here?"

Octavia kept her eyes focused on the wall straight in front of her while she replied and Jamie plopped down to sit beside her. "I'm not moving until you let me up there to see him."

"Get comfortable." He replied, shifting his gaze to Jamie briefly. Jamie arched a brow at him and shook her head causing him to sigh in return before looking back at Octavia. "I let him live isn't that enough?"

Octavia looked up at him with narrowed eyes. "He saved our lives and yours!"

"I know you see it that way but..."

"That's the way it is!" Octavia yelled, cutting him off.

Bellamy worked his jaw in anger before he replied. "He's still dangerous!"

"Only because of what you did!" Octavia shouted back, getting angrier by the second.

"Whatever twisted connection you think you have with that animal forget it. You don't get to see him. End of discussion."

Jamie snorted as he repeated the words he just said to her and they both looked at her. She coughed and acted as though something just got in her throat and both Blakes rolled their eyes at her.

"Why do you even care if I ruined your life? You should want me to go up there." Octavia stared at Bellamy with a pointed gaze before narrowing her eyes once again. "Maybe you'll get lucky and he'll kill me, problem solved."

Bellamy's expression softened and he took a hesitant step towards her. "Octavia, you know I didn't mean that."

She rolled her eyes and dropped her head on Jamie's shoulder. Jamie looked up at Bellamy and nodded to the door and he sighed before retreating from the dropship. He paused just before walking out and looked back at Jamie. "I'll get my stuff, meet you in ten."

Octavia looked up at her with a questioning gaze as Bellamy walked out. "And where are you guys going?"

"The Ark found some old records that show a supply depot not too far from here."

"Are you sure you should go, Jay? I mean you technically died last week...do you really want to push it?"

Jamie groaned before turning to the girl. "Yes! I have been resting all week, I'm fine to go! I don't even need these stupid things but doctor Clarke told me to keep using them." She rolled her eyes and pulled the star pendant from her neck, handing it to the younger girl. "Here, keep an eye on this for me. And when the time is right..." She waited until Octavia's eyes met hers. "Get our friend upstairs out."

Octavia nodded and hugged Jamie before she hobbled her way outside.

She made her way to Finn's tent to hear Clarke tell him, "Well, if you want to stay that way, you should rest."

"I'll tie him down if I have to." Raven replied with a grin, her gaze shifting to Jamie as she walked into the tent.

Jamie wrinkled her face in playful disgust. "What you two do on your own time doesn't need to be mentioned in my presence!"

Jamie  high fived Finn as the boy let out a loud laugh. Raven and Clarke's cheeks heated and Jamie coughed awkwardly and turned away from the tense atmosphere she accidentally created.

"I'm gonna be out of camp today. Can you change his bandages in a few hours?" Clarke asked Raven.

"We are going to be out." Jamie corrected, grinning at Clarke.

"Wait, where are you two going?" His gaze quickly drifted to Jamie and he frowned when he heard she was going to.

"Secret mission!" Jamie practically yelled causing Raven to laugh.

Clarke rolled her eyes and shook her head. "It's just a little assignment from the Ark. Nothing to worry about. And since when are you coming?" She asked looking at Jamie with an arch in her brow.

Jamie shrugged while Finn replied.

"It's not safe out there! Especially for you, Hobbs." Finn replied quickly, glancing at Jamie.

"First off, stop calling me that! And second, you better watch yourself Space Walker. I can get around much better than you so I don't think your opinion really counts. Plus, I got clearance to go so shut it!" She stuck her tongue out at him lightheartedly and he shook his head.

"Finn, they're both big girls perfectly capable of taking care of themselves." Raven told him, placing a hand on Finn's chest.

Finn sighed but before he could say anything Bellamy called to them from outside. "Jamie, Clarke?" He stuck his head in to look at the girls. "Let's get a move on!"

Finn rolled his eyes upon seeing Bellamy and Jamie laughed at him. "See ya later guys!" She turned and quickly followed Bellamy out, wearing a broad smile on her face. He arched a brow at her when she walked outside and she shrugged as best as she could with the crutches. "Problem?"

"What are you so happy about?" He asked, eyes focused on the gate of the camp.

"I don't know, finally being free from this camp for starters!"

"Jamie!"

They both looked up when Monty ran over to them, a frown on his face and Jasper in tow.

"You still haven't talked to Abby?"

Jamie glanced away from the boys and looked to the ground.

"Jamie, she's worried about you. I thought you talked to her the other day?"

"You told us you were going to!" Jasper added, agitated.

"Just...tell her I'll talk to her when I can. And Clarke hasn't talked to her yet either." Jamie kept her gaze down, aware that they were all staring at her. "Wait, did she talk to you about me?" She asked, eyes darting up to Monty's.

"Yes, she did. Because she's worried about you. She knew you stopped breathing and..."

Her eyes narrowed at him and she angrily shook her head as she interrupted him. "She can't just start acting like my mother because I stopped breathing for a few seconds! That's not how this works! Just stay out of it, okay? Both of you. I love you guys but I'm not talking to her, not yet." She turned away from them when Clarke came out of Finn's tent and started making her way to the gate with Bellamy and Clarke following.

They walked in silence for a bit before Jamie glanced back at Clarke, noticing the girl was pretty far behind them. She looked up at Bellamy, wondering if she should actually say what she was thinking. She glanced down at his bag and noticed he had prepared a lot more rations than they would need for a day. "You know the first dropship is gonna come down soon. Pretty sure you can't avoid Jaha forever."

He sighed before glancing at her. "I can try."

She had spoken to him several times in the last week about trying to smooth things over with the chancellor but Bellamy refused every time saying there was no point.

They continued on in silence for a while until Bellamy stopped and looked around. "The depot is supposed to be around here somewhere."

"There's got to be a door." Clarke was still pretty far back as Jamie spoke, and she looked up at Bellamy before continuing. "Maybe he'll be lenient."

"Look, I shot the man Jamie. He's not just gonna forgive and forget."

She sighed and shook her head lightly. "You can't just leave us Bellamy."

He immediately looked away from her, his heart clinching when she called him Bellamy instead of Bell. "Let's just split up, cover more ground. You two stay within shouting distance." Bellamy mumbled before turning and walking away from her. Clarke caught up to her and arched a brow at Jamie.

"What was that about?"

Jamie shook her head, eyes still focused on Bellamy. "Let's just find the door." She mumbled before turning and searching the ground.

The area was basically a giant circle with a pit in the center so Bellamy took the top ridge while the girls walked down into the pit.

They walked side by side for a few minutes, eyes scanning the grass for a door that could lead into the bunker they were searching for. Jamie had overheard Clarke's conversation with the chancellor regarding the bunker and that's what led to her joining them. She looked up at Clarke then, noticing something different about her. "Hey, Clarke?" After seeing Clarke look up out of her peripheral Jamie continued. "What's going on with you and Finn?"

Clarke's mouth dropped and she stopped walking. "Why do you ask that?"

"I think you know why. The night that Raven landed after Monty and I fried the wristbands...where did you two go?"

Clarke's face paled and she quickly averted her gaze. "Um...Jamie..."

"It's fine. You don't have to tell me. I just wanted to make sure you were being careful."

Clarke's eyes flickered up to Jamie's and she smiled gratefully at her. "Thank you." She nearly whispered, a deep blush coloring her cheeks.

Jamie nodded before she continued onto the path they were walking on. She stumbled slightly when one of her crutches hit a latch on a door that was partially hidden in the tall grass. "Bellamy! Over here, I found a door!" She looked up to see him jogging towards them before watching Clarke try to pull it open.

"I think it's rusted shut." Clarke mumbled breathlessly, looking up at Bellamy as he joined them.

"Watch out." Bellamy pulled out his axe and waited for Jamie to step off the door before he swung down and busted the rust off. "Give me a hand." He mumbled, grabbing the handle on one of the doors, Clarke doing the same on the other. Jamie turned to keep an eye on their surroundings as the two pulled the door open.

Once the door was open Clarke walked in first and Bellamy gestured for Jamie to follow her as he dug around in his bag. He pulled out a flashlight and followed the girls down a few stairs. "You really think this place hasn't been touched since the war?"

Clarke glanced over her shoulder at Bellamy before shrugging. "A girl can dream." She walked down a few more steps into the bunker pausing when she saw a skeleton. She glanced at Jamie who was more so hopping down the steps, wide eyes taking everything in.

"Hell of a place to die." Bellamy mumbled, moving closer to Jamie.

Jamie turned to him, wrinkling her nose in disgust. "So much for living down here. This place is disgusting."

They moved further into the bunker, each taking cautious steps.

Bellamy went to one of the shelves beside Jamie and they both started taking things out of the boxes they found. Jamie coughed a few times as dust swirled around them before she looked up at Bellamy. "Yeah, I think it's safe to say no one has touched this place for a while." After searching for a few minutes Bellamy threw his hands in the air in frustration. "Damn it! Anything left down here is ruined."

"They must have distributed most of the supplies before the last bombs went off." Jamie replied, still digging through boxes.

Clarke turned to look at them then with a smile on her face. "Hey, I found blankets."

Bellamy turned towards her, agitated. "Excited about a couple of blankets?"

"Well, it's something." She shrugged and glanced at Jamie noticing the blonde throwing boxes of paper on the floor.

Bellamy looked at Jamie before turning back to the useless boxes on the shelves behind them. "How about a canteen or a med kit or a decent freaking tent?" He angrily shoved a box off the shelf and looked up to see Jamie watching him. She held out a box of glass cups with a smirk and he watched her with an arch in his brow as she threw the box to the ground, shattering it's contents. When the glass exploded in the box Jamie grinned and grabbed another box. She pushed it into Bellamy's hands and nodded expectantly at him.

He rolled his eyes and dropped the box to appease her and she let out a sharp laugh when he grinned as the box exploded like hers had. She gently, playfully, punched his arm with a smile on her face. "See, that helped didn't it?"

His grin widened and he nodded silently, turning away from her. As his eyes scanned the seemingly useless bunker he angrily kicked one of the barrels in the corner of the room. Both girls turned when a different sound hit the floor. The barrel had been full of guns. Jamie's mouth dropped and she quickly hobbled over to the guns that were scattered across the floor.

"This changes everything. No more running from spears." Bellamy mumbled before looking up at the girls. "You guys ready to be badasses?"

"Hell yeah!" Jamie cheered before Clarke stepped closer to Bellamy with a frown.

"Look, I'm not gonna fight you on bringing guns back to camp. I know we need them but don't expect me to like it." Clarke replied with her hands on her hips.

Jamie rolled her eyes before pushing Clarke playfully. "Clarke, we get to truly be warriors now! You know how awesome this is?"

Bellamy picked up one of the rifles and glanced up at Jamie, grinning once more when he saw her excited expression. "We're lucky the rifles were packed in grease. The fact that they survived means we're not sitting ducks anymore." He held the rifle up and shifted closer to Jamie. "Have you ever fired one of these?"

She shook her head, eyes lighting up in anticipation. "Only pistols."

Bellamy looked around and after spotting a large flag, grabbed it and hung it up on the other side of the room for them to shoot at. When he returned to Jamie's side he held the rifle up to his shoulder and acted like he was going to shoot. "Just like this."

She grabbed the gun from him and adjusted her arms on her crutches before holding it up. "So, I just hold it on my shoulder?"

"Yeah, just a litter higher now." He helped guide the gun to the proper position with a hand resting lightly on her back. "Uh, that's good." He cleared his throat and grabbed another gun, getting it into position beside her. "Watch and learn."

He pulled the trigger a couple of times but nothing happened and Jamie snorted as she laughed. "Still watching."

He tried to fight a grin as he turned to her. "My bullets are duds. Try yours."

She moved the gun into position and pulled the trigger, almost losing her balance on her crutches with the force of the hit. "Wow! That was amazing!" She smiled widely at him after seeing her hole in the flag before turning to Clarke. "You're up Clarkey." She forced the gun into Clarke's hands and took a step back. Clarke raised the gun in the same position Jamie had and pulled the trigger. "You're right, that was amazing. Am I horrible for feeling that?" Clarke asked looking between Bellamy and Jamie. Both wore grins as they saw how bad Clarke's aim was.

"Try again." Bellamy said with a nod.

Clarke immediately shook her head and tried to hand the gun back to Jamie but Jamie didn't budge. "No, we shouldn't waste the ammunition."

Jamie laughed again before patting her cousin on the back. "Trust me, you need to practice."

Clarke shoved the gun into Jamie's hands and shook her head before looking at Bellamy. "No, we need to talk about how we're gonna keep guns around camp, where we're gonna keep them and who has access. You left Miller in charge of the grounder so you must trust him."

Jamie's gaze shifted to Bellamy as he replied quietly to Clarke. "You should keep him close, the others listen to him."

"I should keep him close? Bellamy, what's going on? You've been acting weird all day." Clarke glanced between Bellamy and Jamie before her eyes widened in realization. "All the rations you took...you're gonna run." She glanced at Jamie briefly before looking back at Bellamy. "That's why you agreed to come with me. You were gonna load up on supplies and just disappear." Her voice was raised as she spoke and she narrowed her eyes at him towards the end of her rant.

"I don't have a choice. The Ark will be here soon." He kept his gaze on Clarke, trying his best not to look at Jamie as he spoke.

"So you're just gonna leave Octavia?" Clarke asked, her tone getting angrier by the second.

Bellamy's eyes narrowed at her and he shifted uneasily from foot to foot. "Octavia hates me, she'll be fine. You don't even know the story Clarke, I shot the chancellor. They're gonna kill me. Best case scenario, they lock me up with the grounder for the rest of my life and there's no way in hell I'm giving Jaha the satisfaction!" He took in a staggered breath before looking at the gun. "Keep practicing, I need some air."

He strode out the door without a look back and Jamie watched him go. Clarke looked at her cousin, incredulous. "Did you know about all this?"

Jamie shrugged before slowly making her way to the other side of the bunker, using her crutches to push boxes to the side. She messed around with the boxes for a while until she suddenly became really tired. She sunk to the ground and tossed her crutches to the side and closed her eyes planning to rest them for just a few minutes.

She awoke to find Clarke laying in one of the aisles with a wound on her head that had already stopped bleeding. Her eyes quickly scanned the area for who could have done this and she grabbed her crutches before heading outside. She proceeded with caution as night had fallen and she had no clue who or what attacked Clarke.

"Nothing personal."

Her eyes scanned the area for the voice and she gasped quietly when she saw a kid from camp, Dax, standing over Bellamy with a gun pointed at him. She crept up behind Dax and nailed him with one of her crutches as hard as she could. He rebounded quickly and turned to pounce on her but as he staggered closer she swung the other crutch at him. He caught it and yanked it from her and she had to duck to avoid getting hit with it. He held the gun up and pointed it at her with a smirk. "I knew I should have knocked you out too."

"Put it down Dax."

All eyes shifted to Clarke as she stood with a gun pointed at Dax.

"You should have stayed down there Clarke. I tried not to kill you but here you are and Shumway said no witnesses."

Jamie's mouth dropped and her eyes went to Bellamy. "What is he talking about?"

"Shumway set it up. He gave me the gun to shoot the chancellor." Bellamy replied quietly, still trying to catch his breath on the ground with a dazed look in his eyes.

Jamie's eyes returned to the gun in Dax's hand now pointed at her. "You can both walk away now and I won't kill you."

Clarke glanced at Jamie and took a step closer to Dax with her finger on the trigger. "Put it down."

Dax arched a brow at her and stepped closer to Jamie. "Your choice."

Clarke pulled the trigger but nothing happened and Dax smirked as he pulled the trigger. Jamie ducked to avoid being shot and immediately grabbed one of the crutches. She swung it at Dax but he jumped back just as Bellamy climbed to his feet and tackled him to the ground. Bellamy got the temporary leverage and started hitting Dax with one punch after the next but Dax was able to roll them over and get a few punches in himself.

"Get off him!" Jamie yelled, lunging at them. Dax turned and punched her with such force that sent her flying back to the ground. Bellamy shifted slightly, grabbing something sharp on the ground, before nailing Dax in the face so hard with it that it killed him.

Clarke rushed to Jamie's side as the blonde pulled herself against the nearest tree. Bellamy staggered over to them and collapsed next to Jamie and she instantly moved to him and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling her body flush against his side. He wrapped a trembling arm around her waist as she tightened her hold on him, burying her face in his shoulder.

"You're okay." She murmured soothingly.

He was still trying to catch his breath as he shook his head against hers. "No, I'm not."

She pulled back to look at him with a hand caressing his cheek lightly, avoiding the blood running down his face.

"My mother...if she knew what I've done." He took in a staggering breath as his voice cracked. "Who I am." His misty eyes met hers before he continued. "She raised me to be better. To be good."

"Bellamy." Jamie whispered, eyes watching his closely.

"All I do is hurt people. I'm a monster." He mumbled to her with a broken voice.

Tears pooled in her eyes as she shook her head at him. His eyes met hers again and she sucked in a sharp breath upon seeing how broken he appeared. "You saved my life today. And you may be a total ass half the time but I need you." She glanced at Clarke who shifted nervously beside the pair feeling as if she was intruding on a private moment. Jamie turned back to Bellamy and smiled softly at him. "We all need you. None of us would've survived this place without you. You want forgiveness?" She arched a brow and leaned down closer to him to ensure he was focused on her. "Fine, I'll give it to you. You're forgiven okay? But you can't run, Bell. You have to come back with me and you have to face it."

He took in another staggered breath before replying. "Like you faced your mom?"

Jamie exhaled sharply before shrugging. "You're right. I don't want to face my mom. I don't want to face any of it but we have to."

Bellamy sniffled as unshed tears lingered in his eyes. "Jaha will kill me when he comes down."

"We'll figure something out." Jamie replied immediately, a plea in her gaze. "I won't let anything happen to you." She added quietly.

He looked away from her then, eyes drifting down to the hand she had placed lightly on his chest. He laced his fingers through hers and rested his head back against the tree. "Can we figure it out later?"

She settled in beside him and rested her head on his shoulder, squeezing his hand. "Whenever you're ready."
