Chapter Fifteen: I am Become Death
A/N: I apologize for how lengthy this one is but I couldn't find a place I wanted to end it at! Hope you all enjoy :)
The next day Jamie found herself walking along the rubble of the crash site beside Clarke. Their eyes scoured the debris looking for any sign of their mother and they walked so close to one another they continuously bounced off each other but didn't bother moving. They hadn't spoken much since the explosion, not even to each other. And as they slowly looked around both their emotions were going crazy and it took everything in them not to lose it. They'd been fighting the urge to break down all day as they trekked through the woods and to the crash site, clinging to one another as they made their way there.
"They shouldn't be out here." Finn mumbled, watching the girls numbly move around.
Raven sighed and looked up at the girls before shaking her head and looking at Finn. "Their mom was on the ship. They're looking for answers. You want to help them? Find me the black box, hard drives, anything that will explain why this ship crashed."
Bellamy's gaze drifted along the tree line. "Stay sharp! Grounder retaliation for what happened on the bridge is coming it's just a matter of when." His eyes returned to Clarke and Jamie and he watched as the two carefully walked through the rubble.
Finn flipped towards him with a scowl. "Can you blame them?"
"No, I blame you." Bellamy easily replied, stepping closer to Finn.
"Maybe if you didn't bring guns..."
"If we didn't bring guns we would've all been killed!" Raven said, interrupting Finn.
Bellamy sighed and his eyes returned to the girls. "Why they're coming doesn't matter anymore. It's our job to be ready when they do. We're on our own now."
Clarke and Jamie both paused when they saw the fluid dripping from the ship. Jamie quickly pulled Clarke behind her and leaned in a little to see what the fluid was.
"Jamie stop!"
Both girls looked up when Raven yelled and Jamie pushed Clarke back farther. "Rocket fuel?" She asked as Raven joined them. "Hydrazine. Highly unstable in its nonsolid form. If this stuff meets fire, we're all pink mist." Raven picked up a rock and let some of the fluid drip onto it before yelling out, "fire in the hole" and throwing the rock on the other side of the ship.
The rock blew up and Clarke and Jamie jumped back in response.
"We need to clear the area!" Raven called out to Bellamy.
He nodded and looked around their small group. "Okay, then. We move in formation! No straggling, weapons hot. We got to get back before dark."
They made their way back to camp with Bellamy following the group, following Jamie and Clarke. His eyes often flickered up to Jamie's back but her eyes never moved off the ground. Finn continually glanced over his shoulder at Clarke but her gaze remained on the ground as well, stumbling beside Jamie. Half way back to camp they heard a noise nearby and everyone looked up. Clarke grasped Jamie's arm tightly and pulled the girl closer to her as Bellamy moved closer to them and stepped in front of Jamie. "Keep moving." He announced, turning and lightly placing his hand on Jamie's shoulder to keep her moving. He walked beside her after that noticing her eyes just went back to the ground, lost in her thoughts.
When they got back to camp there was a flurry of activity outside the dropship and Jasper was the one to greet them. He spoke quickly to Bellamy and all Jamie caught was Murphy's name. Her and Clarke followed Bellamy into the dropship, parting through the crowd that had gathered.
"Where is he?" Bellamy's voice bellowed through the small space and everyone shifted so he could see the boy in question.
"Everyone but Connor and Derek out! Now!" Bellamy yelled, looking around the group. His eyes widened as Clarke and Jamie continued towards the boy on the floor.
"Jamie." Murphy whispered watching her move closer to him.
"Murphy, what did they do to you?" Jamie asked quietly, her eyes filled with tears when she saw his appearance. She went to move in closer to him but Bellamy grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"He claims he was with the grounders." One of the boys said.
The other nodded to Murphy with a scowl. "Caught him trying to sneak back into camp."
Murphy rolled his eyes and shook his head. "I wasn't sneaking. I was running from the grounders."
"Anyone see grounders?" Bellamy asked the boys with an arch in his brow.
They both shook their heads and Bellamy raised his gun at Murphy. "Well, in that case..."
"Hey! What the hell is wrong with you?" Finn asked, pushing the gun down.
"We were clear what would happen if he came back."
Finn shook his head and Jamie moved to stand in front of Murphy, standing a few feet in front of him. "He saved my life Bell, we can't just kill him now."
His eyes hardened at the sight and he glanced at Finn and Clarke. Finn took a staggered breath before mirroring Jamie and stepping directly in front of the gun, only a few feet from Bellamy.
"If he's been with the grounders this entire time then he knows things that can help us." Finn pleaded.
"Help us? We hanged him, we banished him and now we're gonna kill him. Get the hell out of my way." Bellamy raised the gun once again and Finn raised his hands in surrender, shaking his head as he refused to move.
"No, Finn is right." Clarke said, moving in front of Jamie.
Bellamy narrowed his eyes at her and shook his head. "Like hell he is. Think about Charlotte." He mumbled quietly, eyes flickering to Jamie over her shoulder.
"I am thinking about her but what happened to Charlotte was as much our fault as his." She glanced at Murphy before looking back at Bellamy. "He's not lying. His fingernails were torn off. They tortured him."
"You and the grounders should compare notes." Finn mumbled, earning a glare from Bellamy.
Jamie narrowed her eyes at them before turning to Murphy. She grabbed a towel and a small bucket of water. She sat in front of him and gently started cleaning the blood from his face. "I'm so sorry this happened to you. You shouldn't have tried to lead them away from me."
He smirked and rolled his eyes at her. "I would have anyway. It's not like you could run."
Bellamy cleared his throat and stepped closer to Murphy. "The grounders know we're at war. What did you tell them about us?"
Murphy's eyes hardened and he looked up at Bellamy. "Everything."
Clarke stepped forward and nodded for Jamie and Bellamy to join her. Jamie smiled lightly at Murphy before joining them. "Once he's better we find out what he knows and then he's out of here, okay?" She glanced between Bellamy and Jamie before Bellamy sighed and shook his head.
"What if he refuses to leave? What do we do with him then?"
Clarke shrugged and glanced at Murphy. "Then we kill him."
Jamie's mouth dropped and she shook her head. "No way! He risked everything to save my life. If it wasn't for him I'd be dead."
They both stared back at her with no comment before she angrily shook her head and stormed out of the dropship. She heard arguing coming from Monty and Jasper's tent and poked her head in in time to hear Jasper say, "you know what? This is my tent okay? Bellamy gave it to me and if you have a problem with that maybe you should find somewhere else to sleep."
Her eyes widened when Monty replied with, "fine I will." And Jasper pushed past her to storm out of the tent.
"What the hell happened?" Jamie asked, sitting beside Monty on his cot.
He sighed and dropped his head into his hands. "His head has gotten huge and now he's too good for me."
"He's crazy, just ignore him. Stay in our tent if you need to, okay?"
He smiled up at her and nodded as she made her way to where Raven was working on the radio in the tent with the water. Clarke was heading that way and waited so her and Jamie could walk together.
"If you're going to try to convince me that killing Murphy is the right thing you're going to be wasting your breath." Jamie told her immediately.
Clarke shook her head and frowned as they walked into the tent. "It's not like that Jamie."
Jamie rolled her eyes and plopped down beside Raven. "Anything?"
"Nope. It's like they shut it down from their side. It could be solar flares blocking the signal." The mechanic looked up at Jamie with a doubtful look on her face and Jamie sighed, dropping her head in her hands.
"But you don't think so."
Raven shook her head. "I got a bad feeling."
"There's a lot of that going around." Clarke mumbled.
"I'm sorry about your mom." Raven said, glancing up at Clarke. Her eyes widened and she backed up, gasping as she said, "Oh my God, Clarke, your eyes."
Jamie flipped towards her cousin and her eyes widened as well and she quickly wiped the blood from under Clarke's eyes with the sleeve of her shirt. Clarke's eyes were bloodshot as she stared into Jamie's wide, panicked ones. "What is this?" Jamie whispered, lightly brushing Clarke's cheek.
They heard shouting then from outside, someone yelling for Clarke. Clarke frowned before running outside with Raven and Jamie following her.
"Connor?" Clarke asked, running to the boy who was coughing up blood.
"It won't stop!" He cried out, blood running from his eyes like Clarke's had.
Raven and Jamie stood back a little bit from the group and Jamie took a hesitant step towards Clarke. "Clarke, what's happening?"
Clarke watched the group around them as another boy started coughing up blood too.
"Jamie, Raven, get away from us." Clarke said with her arms raised as if surrendering.
"What?" Raven asked, raising her arm to push Jamie away from Clarke.
"They're the ones who brought Murphy in." Clarke mumbled rushing to the dropship. Jamie glanced at Raven and they quickly ran after Clarke with the two sick kids following.
When they entered the dropship Murphy was on his side throwing up blood, clutching his stomach in pain.
"Murphy! Hey, look at me. I need you to tell me exactly how you escaped from the grounders. What happened?" Clarke asked, leaning over him.
"I don't know. I woke up and they forgot to lock my cage. There was no one there so I took off." He wiped the blood from his mouth and looked up as Bellamy entered.
"They had you in a cage?" Jamie whispered. Murphy glanced at her with a solemn expression before forcing a smile to her. "It's okay, I'm fine now."
"They let you go." Clarke mumbled, turning to Bellamy. "Bellamy, stay back."
Bellamy glanced at Raven and Jamie before turning to Clarke. "Did he do something to you?"
She shook her head in response and Bellamy sighed. "What the hell is this?" He gestured to the two kids with blood running down their faces.
"Biological warfare. You were waiting for the grounders to retaliate for the bridge? This is it. Murphy is the weapon." Her eyes shifted to Jamie and she sighed. "Jamie, you'll need to stay in here since you touched us."
Bellamy's narrowed eyes shifted to Murphy. "Is this your revenge, helping the grounders kill us?"
"I didn't know about this, I swear." Murphy pleaded.
Bellamy stepped closer to Murphy and Jamie had to fight the urge to pull him back. She backed up against the wall beside one of the boys clutching his stomach in pain and watched Bellamy interrogate Murphy.
"Stop lying! When are they coming?"
"Murphy, think, all right? What can you tell us that's useful? Did you hear anything?" Clarke asked, stepping closer to the boy.
He shook his head, his eyes drifted over to Jamie. "They're vicious. Cruel."
"You want to see vicious?" Bellamy screamed at him.
"Bellamy!" Jamie yelled out, watching Murphy. Clarke turned to Bellamy then, regaining his attention. "Don't. Whatever this thing is, it spreads through contact."
Finn ran in and started making his way towards Clarke. "Clarke?"
"Finn, you shouldn't be here. No one should." Clarke held her hand up to stop him from continuing.
"I heard you were sick." His eyes shifted to Jamie before returning to Clarke. "What is this?"
"I don't know, some kind of hemorrhagic fever. We just need to contain it before..." Clarke's sentence trailed off as the boy next to Jamie started vomiting blood. Jamie quickly leaned down to help him and Clarke went to join her but Finn stepped in front of her and grabbed her arm to stop her.
"Don't touch me. You could get sick. Wash your hands, now." Clarke commanded going to Jamie's aide. "Jamie, wait! Don't let his blood get on you!"
Jamie was holding him, trying to keep his head somewhat still, as his body flailed violently. Her hands were already stained red from his blood and as she tried to save him, there wasn't anything she could do about the blood. Blood spewed from his mouth and she had to bite her lip to keep from getting sick herself from the sight of it all. Her wide eyes looked up at Clarke for help as her bloody hands fought to get the boy under control.
"What the hell is happening to him?" Finn asked, panic in his tone.
"I don't know!" Clarke yelled at him, looking up at Jamie as the boy stopped moving.
"Is he...?"
Clarke felt for a pulse and she glanced up at Jamie with a grim expression. They looked up at Bellamy and Clarke answered his question. "He's dead."
Jamie quickly climbed to her feet and backed away from the boy, looking at her bloodied hands in horror.
"Here, alcohol. Hold out your hand." Clarke poured some alcohol on Finn and Bellamy's hands.
Finn watched Jamie as she scrubbed the blood off her hands somewhat frantically. "What do we do?" He asked, returning his attention to Clarke.
"Quarantine. Round up everyone who had contact with Murphy and bring them here." Clarke replied, grabbing Jamie's hands and pouring alcohol on them for her.
Finn nodded and quickly walked out of the dropship.
"And everyone they had contact with?" Bellamy asked, watching Clarke clean Jamie's trembling hands.
"Well, we have to start somewhere. Connor, who was with you when you found him? Who carried him in? Think." Clarke walked over to him as she questioned him and Bellamy quickly spared a glance at Jamie. She seemed perfectly fine, she looked like she always did, aside from the panicked hand scrubbing and pale face at least.
"The first one there was Octavia."
Jamie turned to Bellamy with wide eyes. "Go, go get her!"
He nodded and nearly ran from the ship and returned with Octavia a few minutes later. Jamie covered her hands and mouth and inspected the younger Blake hoping for the best. When she didn't see anything she nodded and stepped back from her. "No visible signs of swelling or bleeding."
"So you're saying she doesn't have it?" Bellamy asked, hopeful.
"I'm saying she doesn't have symptoms." Jamie replied.
Clarke shook her head and replied stuffily, "But that could change. We need to keep her here just in case."
"No way. Look at this place. She'll get sick just being here." Bellamy replied immediately looking at Jamie.
Clarke sighed before replying. "Do you want to stop the spread or not? Look, we'll keep her on the third level with the people who aren't symptomatic yet. Think of it as a way to keep her from sneaking out again."
Octavia narrowed her eyes at Clarke, glaring at the girl. "Screw you Clarke!"
"I'll let you know if her condition changes." Clarke told Bellamy. He nodded and quickly retreated from the dropship with the body of the boy who had just died. Octavia turned to climb the ladder to go to the third level when Clarke stopped her. "Octavia, wait. I need you to sneak out again. Do you think Lincoln has any medicine for this?"
Octavia shrugged and glanced at Jamie. "You want us to go get some?"
"Just you, I'll need Jamie here."
Jamie's eyes widened and she quickly shook her head. "No, it's not safe for her to go out alone."
Clarke started swaying a little bit and Octavia turned towards Jamie. "She's right, you'll be needed here. I'll be fine Jay, I'll be back as fast as possible." Jamie took another moment before she nodded. Octavia went to hug her but Jamie backed away. "No, I can't risk getting you sick. Just be careful." Octavia nodded and took off leaving Jamie to turn to Clarke. "Now what?"
A few more kids got led into the dropship then and Clarke turned to Jamie. "Now we help them."
Two hours passed by and Jamie and Clarke finally had a break from helping those that were sick. They had lost another delinquent to the virus and their spirits had started dropping as more got sick. Jamie made her way outside and sank to the ground, leaning back against the dropship. She had started feeling a little bit lightheaded and couldn't tell if it was from helping others or if she was getting sick.
"You have enough food in there, water?"
She looked up when Bellamy approached her and she smiled lightly at him. "Yeah, some medicine might be nice."
He grinned and his eyes quickly scanned her body. Still no blood anywhere but she was significantly paler now. "I'll see what I can do." His eyes flickered up as Clarke stepped out. "Octavia, you okay?" He walked closer to Clarke with an arch in his brow as he waited for Octavia to reply.
"Bellamy, wait. She's not here. I sent her to see Lincoln. Look, if there's a cure, he has it. I didn't tell you because I knew you wouldn't let her go."
His eyes narrowed in a glare and he glanced at Jamie to find her watching their interaction with wide, curious eyes. He turned back to Clarke with a scowl, "if anything happens to her, you and me are gonna have problems." He walked away, ignoring her calls to him.
Jamie watched as he pushed his way through the small crowd that had gathered and right into a kid. She couldn't hear the conversation but she did see the kid turn around with blood streaming down his face. Jamie jumped to her feet and ran to the group. "Come on, go!" She grabbed the kid's arm and pulled him in the direction of the dropship, looking up when she heard Raven ask someone if they were okay. The girl Raven spoke to threw up blood causing everyone around her to scream out in panic.
Jamie reached forward and grabbed the girl's arm, "go! Go!" She started gently pushing the two towards the dropship as others around them started getting sick. Her wide eyes scanned the group quickly noticing how there were more and more infected. "Everyone stay calm! Separate into two groups! If you're sick, get to the dropship!" Jamie yelled as loud as she could.
Mass panic broke out as everyone tried to get away from those that were sick. People were pushing others as hard as they could to get away from them and a lot of people were falling down.
"Calm down!" Bellamy yelled out to no avail.
Jamie pushed the kids that were sick towards the dropship and she ended up back to back with Bellamy as he tried to calm his side and she tried to calm hers. One of the kids to their side pulled a gun on one of the sick people. "Go away!" He yelled, gun aimed and ready.
"Put that gun down! Put it down!" Finn yelled, trying to part the crowd to get to the boy.
Bellamy shifted so he faced the gun, not Jamie. "Put it down." He spoke calmly to the boy but he was focused on the girl with blood dripping down her face.
Several gunshots rang out and all eyes went to Clarke. "This is exactly what the grounders want. Don't you see that? They don't have to kill us if we kill each other first." She swayed slightly and Jamie immediately moved forward to get closer to her but the large group separating her from Clarke seemed endless.
"They won't have to kill us if we all catch the virus. Get back in the damn dropship!" The boy with the gun yelled, pointing it towards Clarke. Bellamy stepped forward and nailed the kid in the face and took the gun. He turned to face Clarke, watching as Jamie pushed through the crowd. "Not to state the obvious but your quarantine isn't working."
Clarke fell backwards then, right into Finn's arms.
"Finn! Don't touch her!" Raven shouted out but by then Finn had already brought Clarke against his body.
"Let me go. I'm okay." Clarke mumbled weakly.
"No, you're not." Finn stated as Jamie finally reached them.
Jamie reached up and felt Clarke's forehead and gently wiped away some of the blood from her face with her sleeve. "We need to get her inside."
"You need to stay out here. You're not sick yet." Finn told Jamie, pulling Clarke away from her.
She rolled her eyes at the boy. "I'm fine Space Walker."
"Octavia will come back with a cure." Clarke said, looking at Jamie.
Octavia's voice called out over the group, drawing everyone's attention. "There is no cure. But the grounders don't use the sickness to kill."
"Really? Tell that to them." Bellamy replied, gesturing to the two bodies against the dropship. "I warned you about seeing that grounder again."
Octavia arched a brow and narrowed her eyes at him. "Yeah? Well, I have a warning for you too. The grounders are coming. And they're attacking at first light." She made her way to Jamie's side with a small smile. "Come on, I'll help you get Clarke inside."
Jamie glanced at Bellamy and turned to walk inside with Octavia, Finn, and Clarke.
"What do I have to do to stop you from coming in here?" Clarke asked Finn.
He smirked and shook his head. "Get better."
"If he's not sick by now then he's probably immune like me and Jamie." Octavia replied.
Murphy climbed out of his hammock and gestured to it. "Here, come on, she can take mine."
Finn laid Clarke down and turned to Octavia. "What else did Lincoln tell you?"
"The virus doesn't last long."
"It's true, I feel better." Murphy added with a shrug.
"They need to stay hydrated." Clarke tried climbing from the hammock just to be pushed back down by Finn. "You need to stay hydrated."
"Okay, them too. Please?" Clarke asked, voice wavering slightly.
"It's okay. We'll do it, just rest." Octavia glanced at Jamie and she nodded, ready to once again help the others that were sick.
Murphy joined them without a second thought. "I'll help you guys."
"You need to save yourselves. Just leave camp. Take anyone healthy enough with you."
"Clarke, if you think that's even a possibility you don't know me very well." Finn told her, brushing her hair off her face.
"I know you." She replied with a small smile.
Murphy shrugged. "Look, at this rate when the grounders get here, there won't be anyone left to fight back."
"That's the point." Jamie mumbled, watching Clarke to make sure she was doing okay, eyes widening in realization.
"Then we slow them down." Finn replied with a thoughtful expression. Jamie gasped and nodded, understanding where he was taking the thought. They both ran out to the tent where Bellamy, Jasper, Monty, and Raven were making bullets at. They walked in to hear Raven tell them, "Stay focused, we're doing good. We need as many rounds done by dawn as we can."
"It won't matter if there's no one left who can shoot. What do we need to build a bomb?" Jamie asked, stepping closer to Raven.
Everyone in the tent turned to look at Finn and Jamie, curiosity in their features.
Raven glanced from one to the next before shrugging. "Depends on what you're trying to blow up."
Jamie looked at Finn before turning to Raven. "How about a bridge?"
"What are you talking about?" Bellamy asked, looking up from his work.
"Murphy said he crossed a bridge on his way back here from the grounder's camp. Sound familiar?" Finn glanced at Jamie then, an arch in his brow. "Wait, when Lincoln brought you to that cave did you cross a bridge?"
Jamie shrugged and her eyes flickered to the ground. "I was half dead then, I don't remember."
Bellamy shifted closer to her, looking at Finn. "Okay, so what, he crossed the bridge."
"So, the virus is fast. He's already getting better. Blowing the bridge won't stop the attack but the longer we can delay it, the more of us will be able to fight."
Bellamy studied Finn, considering his statement before sighing. "Even if Murphy is telling the truth, and that's a big if, that bridge has survived a nuclear war and ninety seven years of weather."
Raven smirked confidently. "It won't survive me."
Jamie smiled at the girl and nodded before heading out of the tent with Jasper and Monty. Jasper went to the fire with his new friends while Jamie spoke quietly to Monty about what they'd do if this didn't work. There didn't really seem to be a backup plan. She made sure to keep her distance in case she was sick and even spoke with her shirt covering her mouth.
Twenty minutes or so passed by when Bellamy walked out of the tent. Jamie watched for a moment as he stumbled slightly and immediately started to go to him. "Jasper, come here." His voice was raspy and wavered as he yelled to the boy.
Jasper glanced at Jamie and they both walked over to Bellamy.
"Hi, you need me to go with you to the bridge again?" Jasper greeted him.
Jamie watched Bellamy with a curious gaze and then realization dawned on her. He's sick. His skin was moist with sweat and looked nearly translucent as he swayed in his spot. His hair was matted to his forehead and his eyes were glossy and unfocused. She moved closer to him in case he needed help remaining upright but his eyes remained on Jasper.
"I need you to take the shot." He told Jasper.
Jasper's eyes widened and he nodded, glancing over his shoulder at his new friends. "Yeah, I can do that."
Bellamy's gaze shifted to the delinquents standing by the fire. "Don't you have jobs to do?" He looked back at Jasper, making sure he had Jasper's attention. "If you miss, if that bridge doesn't blow, we're all dead. You got that?"
Jasper nodded before arching a brow. "Hey, why me? I mean, you've got twenty shooters." His features shifted and he nodded again. "I'm the only one not sick right?"
"Right, don't miss." Bellamy smirked as Jasper turned to walk back to the fire. Jamie watched a second more as Bellamy started falling and she quickly lunged forward and wrapped her arms around him to keep him upright. "Stay back." His eyes had gone to Jasper over Jamie's shoulder. "Find Finn and make the shot." Bellamy told him as Jamie tightened her hold on him, pulling his arm around her shoulder and started pulling him to the dropship.
"I don't want you to get sick because of me." He mumbled, barely able to speak.
Jamie looked up at him and shook her head. "I won't. Just let me help you for once." She returned her attention in front of them before swaying slightly under his weight. "Come on, just a little bit further." She stumbled up the ramp and managed to pull him inside. He started coughing and when he moved to cover his mouth they nearly lost balance but Jamie fought to keep him up. She had him pulled into her and as he was crumpled over her his head nearly rested on hers. "Come on Bell, we're almost there."
"Bell? Clear some space!" Octavia called out, fear lacing her tone. She got an empty cot ready for him and her face paled when she noticed the look of defeat on his face. "Oh, Bell." She mumbled as Jamie got him to the cot. Octavia helped get him laid down and immediately started cleaning some of the blood off his face. Bellamy started coughing violently right before he turned on his side and vomited blood. Jamie watched him with wide, terrified eyes feeling a pang in her heart at seeing him like this.
When he laid his head back down Octavia moved into his line of sight with a small smile. "Hey, big brother."
His hand gripped hers tightly to his chest and his eyes stared back at her. "I'm scared."
Octavia smiled lightly at him in reassurance. "I won't let anything happen to you, I promise."
"That's what I said to you the day you were born." His voice broke and Octavia's watery eyes flickered up to Jamie briefly to see the blonde watching Bellamy with a concerned gaze...and blood dripping down her face. After being near it all day the virus had finally gotten her. Octavia replied to Bellamy while subtly tossing Jamie a rag. She couldn't have Bellamy worrying about anything but himself right now and by the look on Jamie's face, she didn't want that either. "I know. You told me that like a thousand times."
"I'm glad you're here." Bellamy told her weakly, squeezing her hand as he spoke. He started to turn to Jamie only for Octavia to gently pull his face back towards hers.
She smiled and nodded to him, brushing the curls off of his forehead. "Just get some rest now okay?" The second his eyes closed she stood up and walked over to Jamie. "You need to lay down."
Jamie shook her head and started to stand, only to drop right back down. "I don't get it. I directly touched Murphy and Clarke and I didn't even really touch him...why...why wouldn't I have gotten sick then?"
Octavia smirked as she helped the blonde to the other side of Bellamy. "Maybe it's fate. Your body's way of telling you that you guys belong together. When he's weak, you're weak. And when he's strong, you're both strong." She shrugged as Jamie rolled her eyes but the blush on her cheeks betrayed her.
Octavia helped her lay down next to Bellamy with a small smile on her face. She brushed Jamie's hair back and away from her face, watching as the blonde's eyes slowly closed. She pulled the blanket to where it stretched over both of them and smiled when Bellamy's sleeping form rolled to his side, facing Jamie. His arm moved to cover her and pull her closer to him and her head moved to rest against his chest. Octavia smiled at the sight before her and leaned down to whisper, "sleep tight my little love birds. I'll be here if you need anything."
