Chapter 7
A/N: .... *boop*
There's no mecha robot in this one. Skipped some major scenes from the arc, bc why not?
Through their mission of trying to find the lacrima and save their friends, Erza couldn't help but wonder if Lucy was trapped with them as well. Magnolia was sucked into a new realm, compacted into a solid form of lacrima. She told herself that if she saves the town, she saves her girlfriend, and she'll be able to see her again. It was the only mindset that Erza told herself in order focus on saving her friends.
She already has too many to deal with, she didn't need to know that there's another evil Erza that is trying to kill them all. She didn't need to know that Ashley looked so much like her own celestial girlfriend. And she didn't need to know that the large lacrima (which happened to be Magnolia) was about to be used as a bomb to destroy the Exceeds.
No. But Erza will not stand for doing nothing and moping like a lost child. Just thinking about how she let Lucy be taken away only fueled her own self hate. She needed to move and distract herself by slashing her swords on an unfortunate evil mages. Fortunately for her, Knightwalker seemed eager to help.
In the middle of their battle, Knightwalker seems to be on the edge. Erza had too many surprises and armors that made her lower her defense. Just how many armors does she have? Knightwalker thought before recalling something totally unrelated to the battle at hand.
"You Fairy Tail mages, you don't leave people behind do you?" Knightwalker asked as she parried another attack.
"We don't turn our backs on anyone." Erza lunged forward, prepping another attack.
Knightwalker then smirked and jumped out of Erza's range. "Really? Then why did I come across of your own?"
Erza paused and stared at the redhead. She hoped, she wanted to hope that it was the girl she been looking for. "Lucy?" But there's no way that she could be here, right?
The counterpart smirked wider. "Her screams were music to my ears as I finished her off." She lied, trying to rile Erza up.
Erza gritted her teeth in anger before calmly staring at her counterpart. She was cool. Collected. And she will not lose control. Not for the sake of her celestial girlfriend. "If you're going to lie, then be sure that you're not clenching your hands."
Knightwalker narrowed her eyes at Erza, seeing that she was in fact clenching her fists. "What makes you think I'm lying?"
"Because I'm also Erza."
Knightwalker smirked again and tightened her grip on her spear. "As expected of my counterpart. But still doesn't explain that I had ran into this Lucy of Earthland."
"She's here!?" Erza cried, finally got what she wanted. The blonde was here, and she's alive.
Knightwalker narrowed her eyes and stared at the girl.
Now all Erza wanted to do was go and look for her Lucy. Find and make sure that she's safe. That she's being taken care of properly. All she wants to do is have her in her arms again.
With renowned strength, Erza had even more motivation. She needed to defeat her counterpart, and save Lucy. She needs to save her.
'I'm coming Lucy.'
...
Lucy hid in the outskirts of the town, as smoke rose to the sky. She didn't know what to do in this strange world. Leo, her spirit, had taught her some more tricks of her star dress forms. Like choosing between different spirits to draw their power from. As helpful as the tips were, it still doesn't help the fact that Lucy doesn't know how she can even help save the town.
"Princess, we must move. We need to help your friends." Leo said, walking up to the blonde, and handed her a cape.
Lucy turned and stared at the spirit. "Friends?"
"Fairy Tail. I can feel their magic from here. They're fighting to save their friends and the guild." Leo smiled.
Lucy frowned at Leo's version of Fairy Tail. It really doesn't match with what she saw in her memories. She sighed before taking the cape and putting it on. "Where are we going?"
"We need to get into the city. Security had tightened for sure, so it'll be a little difficult to get inside. But I'll create an opening for you."
"Then what?"
"Find your friends Lucy. I know they're worried about you, just as I am."
Lucy remained silent as Leo went ahead. She clenched her fists, trying to understand what's going on. Enemy or friend? She couldn't tell anymore. As soon as she saw an opening, she reluctantly pushed through and walked along the shadows of the building.
Explosions, fire, ice, and screams were becoming louder and louder. And Lucy wanted to turn away. But something nagged within her to keep going. Was it curiosity? Ehe didn't know, and before she knew it, she was watching the palace shift.
It shifted and a giant weapon-like thing came out. And it looked like a dragon head from where she stood. Then it shot straight up, shooting into a large floating rock above her.
"Find the key and destroy it."
Lucy jumped and turned to Leo who had a worried look on his look. A look of frantic, as if he knew how disturbingly dangerous the machine is.
"Hurry. It must be destroyed. I'll come with you." Leo moved toward the castle. There was no time to waste.
Lucy frowned before following the spirit. Then she spotted something fly toward the rock, accompanied by of other tiny dots. A battle in the sky. At least it'll be safer on the ground. Lucy hoped as she stepped into the castle and weaved through the large hallways.
Leo proved to be an excellent tracker... (only when he wants to be). Both Leo and Lucy stopped in front of a large destroyed building that was already slightly ajar. The spirit pushed the door open wider, and saw the King himself, surrounded by couple of soldiers. And behind him was the key that was powering the machine, the key that Lucy figured that she must destroy.
"Destroy the key, and I'll keep these soldiers busy." Leo instructed, raising his fists.
Lucy frowned at her spirit, then at the scene before her, and turned back to her spirit. "How?"
"You can do it, Princess." Leo smiled and then disappeared, now in combat with the soldiers, who proved to more skilled than the other soldiers.
Exasperatedly, Lucy moved toward the key, and would have been able to even touch it if the King wasn't in her way. The King had a large scowl on his face as he stood in front of the machine protectively.
"You're not going to save your friends!" He exclaimed.
"Friends?" Lucy muttered, filled with uncertainty.
"You are here to try and stop them, right?" The King asked, seeing how Lucy wasn't acting like how the other mages were.
Lucy was only here because her spirit had strongly recommended it, and because she didn't know what else to do, she complied. She couldn't quite explain why she felt the throbbing sensation of resistance. Something was pulling her to try and knock this King and destroy the key. Something else throbbed in reliance, to let the King's plan pull through.
She doesn't know anymore.
"LUCY!"
Hearing her name come out of Leo's mouth, she turned, only to see that a familiar redhead was coming at her with her spear in hand. And she reacted too late as Knightwalker plunged her spear into Lucy's stomach.
Lucy stood in a painful shock as she was impaled in the stomach. At first she panicked. But then she realized that she couldn't feel any pain. It didn't hurt. She couldn't even feel the pain of the blade slicing her skin. Just a dull ache blood streamed down to her legs.
Leo jumped in and tried to swipe at Knightwalker, but the counterpart jumped away, leaving the spear in Lucy's stomach. Leo turned to her celestial master and saw that she was in critical condition. He needed to do something fast.
He telepathically called for the help of the other celestial spirits. Couple seconds later, Taurus, Cancer, Gemini, Sagittarius, and Virgo was the only to show up. Thankful for that these spirits came, there was hope.
"Taurus, destroy that key and that giant machine. Gemini, deal with the King. Virgo and Sagittarius, deal with this Erza of Edolas." Leo spouted orders as he carefully lowered Lucy onto the ground, seeing how weak she was becoming.
The spirits complied to their orders and did as they were told. Leo grabbed a towel that materialized into his hand and pressed it into Lucy's stomach. Slowly, he pulled out the spear. Once it was out, he put pressure on the wound with the towel.
'There's too much.' Leo tried to think of ways to save his master. The person who had risked her life to save him. The person who had showed respect and kindness to his kind. He will not let her die. Not now or ever!
"Things had become quite messy here."
Leo turned to see a familiar face. "Mystogan."
Mystogan took something out of his pocket and knelt in front of a pale Lucy. "This should help the bleeding." He poured the content of the vial where the wound was. Almost immediately, blood stopped flowing out of her body. "She'll still need treatment."
Leo stared at the man with wide eyes. Too thankful to even form words for saving his master.
An explosion was heard from behind, and the machine was destroyed. Leo smiled that Taurus had completed his part, effortlessly even. Their friends will live.
The only two people who were outrageously angry where the King and a frustrated Knightwalker. "You damn fools!" The king yelled in anger. "We could of had unlimited magic!"
Mystogan moved and stood in front of the King, standing in front of Leo and Lucy. He had made up his mind, his resolve to finally fix this mess. He moved and removed the mask, revealing his true face.
Leo didn't really care that Mystogan/Jellal was the prince of this Kingdom. He only cared about the fact that Lucy still needed treatment. And that she haven't opened her eyes yet. "Lucy, please open your eyes."
Virgo and Sagittarius was still fighting Knightwalker, who had grabbed her spear as soon as Leo threw it aside, and it was difficult to say who was winning. Evenly matched one would say, but the spirits clearly has the advantage, as they are receiving more magic, giving them the ability to stay in the human world for a longer period of time. It seems that the Celestial King was helping them in this battle, even if was indirectly.
"Lucy. Please open your eyes." Leo repeated, shaking the blonde once more. "Please. I can't go through this again." A small tear fell down Leo's cheek as he tried to hold onto hope that Lucy will pull through.
...
She was back on the familiar street. It was familiar, but she didn't really know it. Along the riverbank, houses and apartments lined together perfectly. The sky was blue, then sun shined beautifully.
But something was off.
She stared into the most hateful pair of eyes she had seen. The look that could kill. The look that could turn you into ashes. It was the look that shook Lucy to her very core.
It only took a second for her to realize that these guys were Fairy Tail members. She doesn't know their names, but she recognized one of them. Long scarlet hair. Didn't she impale her? She must be dead...
Yes... She remembers now. How the redhead woman plunged her weapon into her. And the smirk that she had as blood started leaking out. Erza's eyes was filled with the look similar to that man that she had barely escaped from.
Erza lunged forward with her sword, and raised it toward Lucy's head. Inches away from her forehead-
...
Lucy's eyes shot open in a panic. She sat up, wincing in pain as she did so. She noticed that her wound had been bandaged up. Her spirit, Leo, was gone. It was all too quiet. All she could hear was her ragged breath as she try to collect herself, calming the agitated pain on her stomach.
She sees an the redhead and the King both tied up. They both look infuriatingly furious that they had lost.
"I'm glad to see that you're alright."
Lucy turned her head to see a blue haired man, that wore the outfit that Mystogan wears. This must be the same person. "Mystogan?"
"I told your spirits that I'll keep you safe until your friends come back." Mystogan smiled.
At the mention of 'friends', she panicked. The dream she had, it all felt too real. The hate was too real. She doesn't want to face such hate again. Lucy tried to push herself up to her feet, ignoring the roaring pain in her stomach, and ignoring the words of Mystogan.
"Lucy, you need to rest. Wendy can heal your injuries almost immediately." Mystogan raised her arms, trying to find a way to get the blonde to rest.
"..." Lucy managed to get on one knee. Who's Wendy?
"Erza would want you to rest."
"..." Lucy gritted her teeth as she finally got on her feet. Who's the hell is Erza?
"Natsu would want you to -"
"SHUT UP!" Lucy suddenly yelled, becoming more frustrated and angry. "I don't even know those people. Don't expect me to do things for people I don't even know!"
Mystogan was certainly surprised and didn't expect this turn of events. "Amnesia?" He muttered vocally.
"As far as I'm concern, they want to kill me." Lucy grunted before making her way to the door, eager to leave. She had enough. Enough of this place. She wanted to leave. She need to leave this place.
He put couple of pieces together before realizing what's happening. "Someone's manipulated your memories. That's the only explanation."
The blonde stopped and turned to blue haired man.
"I wish I could fix it, but I've exhausted the rest of my reserved magic to unleash this seal, and to stop Knightwalker and my father."
Lucy was unsure of what he was talking about. Was it the gaps that she has? That might explain the empty memories in between. But she can't figure it out. Reality and fragmented fake memories, she can't figure out the difference between the two. They all felt so unbelievably vivid and real.
Mystogan sighed before approaching the blonde. He needed to do something about this. But not with Lucy acting paranoid. He felt a little thankful for keeping some of his items reserved for special occasions. He pulled out a vial out his pocket, and uncorked it.
"I'm sorry Lucy."
"Sorry for wh-"
Lucy began to ask, but then was splashed with unknown liquid from the vial. Not another second, her eyes became heavier. Her limbs felt like lead, and that last thing she remembered was seeing the ground come closer and closer.
...
They managed it! They saved their guild, their town. And the Exceed Kingdom was saved as well. Everybody was cheering with one another. But Erza still needed to find the blonde. She knew that Lucy was still out there.
But for now, she needed to collect herself, and calm herself down. Erza, along with Natsu, Wendy, and Gray, headed back to the palace.
When they arrived at the palace, they saw Mystogan. But that's not all. Erza spotted that the man was carrying someone in his arms. A painfully familiar blonde. And she immediately knew it was. It was her celestial girlfriend.
Erza ran over to them, and Mystogan carefully lowered the blonde onto the ground. The redhead came down to the ground carefully examined the blonde. Lucy was riddled with so many injuries it almost scared the older girl. Natsu, Gray, and Wendy followed not to far behind.
"Lucy!
"Lucy-san!"
"LUIGI"
"What happened?" Erza asked Mystogan, not removing her eyes from the peaceful look on the younger girl's face.
"She was already injured when she arrived. Then your counterpart..."
Hearing the name of her counterpart, she immediately knew what happened. She didn't need to learn anymore.
"Where is she?! I'll give her the piece of my mind for hurting my friend." Natsu muttered, cracking his knuckles eagerly.
"No I will!" Gray exclaimed, glaring at the fire mage.
"I knew Lucy the longest, so I'll do it!" Natsu roared.
"You're too hot-headed to do things correctly!"
"You strip way to much!"
"You eat with your mouth open!"
"Your magic is weak!"
"Your punches are weak!"
"ENOUGH!" Erza yelled, glaring at the two boys who never know when to shut up. The boys trembled under the murderous gaze, and forced themselves to hug each other.
Wendy could only chuckle nervously at the whole thing. She moved and knelt next to Lucy's side, and moved her hand to her stomach. Green light appeared around her hands, and the wounds on the blonde's began to close.
The ministrations of Wendy's healing spell seems to be working, as Lucy started to squirm a little, but she remained unconscious.
Erza's hope grew when Lucy moved. Once Wendy was done, the older girl picked up the blonde and held her gingerly. "Thank Mavis..."
"I healed her as best as I can. She'll have scars, but there shouldn't be any other problems." Wendy said, looking at the blonde with concern.
"As long as she lives, I don't care about the scars. I'm just glad she's alive." Erza lip's quivered as she looked at the blond. She wanted to cry in joy. She wanted nothing more than to hug her tightly. But for the moment, she settled with a gentle kiss to the soft cheek.
"Erza, there's something you need to know." Mystogan spoke up.
Erza turned to the man and Mystogan continued, "It's about Lucy, she-"
Then couple of soldiers approached the group, and turned to Mystogan with a frantic look. "There's a riot! Civilians is trying to push into the palace."
"What's going on?" Erza asked.
"I've exposed the King for the man he really was, took away this world's magic. And I've taken my rightful place as the ruler or Edolas. I as expecting this though." Mystogan explained with a calm tone.
"Is there a way for us to help?" Natsu asked.
"No. You've done enough. We'll talk later, Erza" Mystogan smiled before making his way to the riot, trying to calm it down himself.
Natsu and Gray frowned as the man hastily left. They looked at each other, and seemed to have some sort of mental communication with each other. They both grinned and made their way to where the riot was, leaving Wendy and Erza alone with a still unconscious blonde.
"I need to become stronger." Erza stated, silently wondering what Mystogan was about to say. Was there something wrong with her? Will she die?
"You been training for almost three months straight since she was kidnapped. I think you're plenty strong already Erza-san."
Erza wasn't convinced. She wasn't strong enough when they took her away. She barely held her own in this strange Edolas world. It wasn't enough. She needed to be stronger.
Explosions of fire and ice colliding against each other was heard, and the debris of the two elements could be seen in the sky. "I wonder what they are doing." Wendy wondered as she watched the sky.
"I don't care about them." Erza studied the face of the blonde. Her long eyelashes. Puffy cheeks. Small cute nose. Big plump lips. She loved looking at those features. She could never commit it to memory, so she enjoyed re-remembering the face of her girlfriend all over again.
Then something unexpected happened.
Light was shined upon the mages, upon Wendy, Erza, and Lucy. Then it pulled them toward the sky. Erza could explain that it felt unusual. Like she was in her Purgatory armor, flying though the air, only difference was that she could barely feel the difference in pressure as they floated higher and higher into the sky, and pass the clouds.
Erza held Lucy close to her, protectively as they floated.
...
It was the opposition of an echo that made her hesitate. And it was the apprehension of candor that she struggled with. She didn't know what to do anymore.
The dull ache in her stomach became more bearable, and now she felt like she was floating. Curiously, she forced open her eyes to see what's happening. She didn't expect to be in the arms of a redhead that had tried to kill her. Panic and terror started to rise and she looked up at the face of person who held her.
The last thing she saw before the light engulfed them completely was a smirk on the woman's face. Or was it a smile? No it must've been a smirk. Instinctively, she pried herself free, away from the woman that she feared before she could no longer feel her own body, blinded by the bright white light.
Then the light died down, and Lucy could tell she was back on the ground. And she immediately knew that she was back in Magnolia. She turned to see that see was close to the group of Fairy Tail mages that was brought back from Edolas.
She needed to get out of here.
She made a quick dash, away from the mages. Out of the town if possible. Anywhere where the Fairy Tail mages are not.
