Unknown to Rosalie or any of the Cullens she's a mother. See, as a human she didn't show much of the typical signs of pregnancy so when Carlisle turned her, Rosalie had recently given birth to a baby girl. However, when she was being turned, she completely forgot about the pregnancy and the child, like when Alice was being turned. Time passed and Melody grew up in Hoovervilles and on the streets until she was a young adult. One day she was attacked by a vampire who saw her as a quick snack but because he didn't fully drain Melody of her blood, some of her blood mixed with his venom, not fully turning her into a vampire. 3 days later she woke up a half human half vampire hybrid.
