Chapter 1 - Adventure

Drista didn't agree with her living quarters.
After all, it was just a 'fancy' hole in the the ground. It was basically a underground base with a ladder covered by a trapdoor to get up and down. Nothing special.
Now, Drista didn't mind living here at first. Heck, she thought it was pretty cool. From the custom made floor, to the polished Andesite and Granite walls, to the wall of bookshelves tucked away in a corner, illuminated by a single lantern.
But, after a few months, things changed. Her brother, Dream, stopped visting her as often. Usually he'd vist her almost everyday, without fail. But now, his visits were few and far between. She'd be lucky if he came by this week.
In the end, the little bunker felt lonely without him.
One of the things Drista did to occupy the silence was to reminisce about the past. Things were so different back then, she remembered chasing her brother around with a fork as his friends died of laughter. That'd always be one of her fondest memories.
The few times her brother did visit, he always seemed irritated with something. She remembered him ranting about things, from a country that wanted independence, to a election that involved a man with ram horns.
It had been at two weeks since he visited her last. Drista often caught herself wondering if he had left her for good. No... no he wouldn't do that!
Still, two weeks is a long time to leave a 14 year old alone. She was barely even a teen.
Drista sighed, putting her thumb and forefinger to the bridge of her nose. She was running low on food and supplies and needed to get some asap.
If her brother was here, he'd help her. He was the one who taught her how to fight and defend herself. But he's not here now, and who knows how much longer he'll be gone.
Hunting couldn't be much difference than training, right?
Wrong.
Even with the bow she'd made, it wouldn't change that fact she was a terrible shot. This was the third time a pheasant had escaped her grasp.
The teen growled, her eyes narrowing under her blindfold. It was a surprise she could see with this thing on, but her brother had designed it for her, so she didn't question it.
She didn't dare go after any other prey, fish and other small animals were much too quick for her, with deer it was the same, and she didn't even want to try with the wild boar.
Drista sighed, nocking another arrow in her bow.

Well, she was officially lost at this point. A thick cloud of mist hung on the ground, which sucks when the opening to your base is on the ground.
Nothing looked or felt familiar. Tall trees stretched into the settling gloom. Night was approaching.
And that meant the undead would come out soon.
What a way to go right?
Shot down by Skeletons? Devoured by either Zombies or Spiders? Or maybe exploded by a Creeper? Drista preferred the latter option, cause it'd probably be the quickest way to go.
The trees that were so welcoming in the day suddenly turned to dark shadow beings, ready to grab the poor girl and take her to the shadow realm.
Drista quickened her pace. She didn't want to admit it, but she was scared. Drista prided herself on geing a tough, strong girl who could stand up to anything.
But now she felt like a scared little kid who wanted nothing else but to fall asleep to her brother reading her a story.
She wasn't even sure she was going in the right direction. She just wanted to get somewhere to be safe from the creatures of the night.
Out of options, the teen climbed up a nearby tree. At least up there, she'd be safe from the mobs that roamed the night. Drista settled for two thick branches next to each other to spend the night.
Sleep did not come easy, not with the constant groans from Zombies and hisses from Spiders as they roamed.
She just hoped none of the Spiders caught her scent. Then, she'd be in trouble.

Drista blinked open her bleary eyes, grateful for the blindfold that blocked the sunlight that was in her eyes. The sun was beginning it's ascent towards it's peak. Sparrows and canaries squeaked and chirped in high branches. The sounds of a distant eagle as it flew by, hunting for it's next meal.
This is why Drista was a morning person.
For a moment, she forgot her troubles and worries, and let herself be soothed by the music of the forest.
Drista climbed down, landing with a soft thump when she neared the ground. Golden sunlight streamed through the foliage, it's rays creating yellow patches where different species of flowers and plants loved to grow.
The forest was so peaceful in the day, it was a stark contrast to the night ambience.
With it's lush undergrowth and variety of animal and plant life, you'd be surprised if this wasn't some enchanted forest.
Drista yawned, taking off her blindfold for a moment to rub her tired eyes. Sure, she loved the forest and it's inhabitants very much, but still needed to find her way back to her base.
The forest may look enchanting and magical to anyone who didn't know about it before. But it could get dangerous at times. Wild boars that would gladly gore you if you weren't careful; dangerous plants that could give you a horrible rash, make you extremely sick, or worse; the mobs that would stalk the land after the sun is replaced by the moon.
But that didn't stop Drista from exploration. Nope. Adventure flowed like blood in her veins, it was a part of her.
Now, she has to find where her stupid hidden base is.
