If You Adopted

A/N: All minors are aged-up. This chapter includes Nezuko and Shinobu!

Backstory to this chapter: You met an orphan child and, when you realized that they had no family/support left, you decided to ask your spouse if you could adopt them.

--

Tanjiro:

Tanjiro is so excited to adopt the orphan you'd pointed out to him. He empathized with the child immediately when learning about what happened to them and begged to go with you to meet them. Well, he met them and they instantly caught his heart. The two of you adopted the child and live as a happy little family of three.

Nezuko:

Nezuko was a little nervous about adopting a human child, mostly because she'd have to gain their trust. But when you introduced her to the child, she took one look at their big eyes and melted. They were a little afraid of her at first, but when you assured that she was harmless (to them at least), they eventually took to her like a duckling. It was so cute watching them follow her around with a tiny smile. The three of you live happily together.

Zenitsu:

Zenitsu had been wanting a kid for a long time when you told him about the orphan. He begged to meet them, and when he did, they stole his heart. He begged you to adopt them right away. Once you did, the child became very close to their new father. Zenitsu absolutely dotes on your child, having empathized with being unwanted as a kid. Great-Grandpa Jigoro enjoys babysitting them, too.

Inosuke:

Inosuke was okay with taking in an orphan, given that he was taken in by his boar mother as a baby. When he met the child, he took to them. When you adopted the child, Inosuke was initially protective of the child (to everyone but you), but he eventually loosened up. When all three of you went to meet with your friends, Inosuke would hold up your child and proudly talk about them to the boys (much to your and Nezuko's amusement).

Giyuu:

Giyuu felt empathy for the orphan and when you both went to see them again, Giyuu melted and asked to adopt them immediately. You took them home and Giyuu was a bit awkward at first, trying to adapt to his new role as a dad, but he loosened up quickly and the child became very close to him. Your little family likes to go visit Urokodaki so that the child can know their 'grandpa' (and Tanjiro loves to babysit).

Kyojuro:

Kyojuro was excited that you found an orphan, and when he went to see them too, the child took his heart. The child was drawn to his cheerful, optimistic demeanor and they grew very close to each other once you adopted them. You both immediately visited Kyojuro's family with the child, and Senjuro immediately loved his nephew. Shinjuro was a bit resistant, but the child eventually brought down his walls and he now enjoys babysitting them.

Muichiro:

Muichiro immediately empathized with the orphan, and when he met them, he wanted them. Once you adopted them, they became very close to him. Wherever you go, they stay close to their father. (Tanjiro loves to babysit them, and they adore Aunt Nezuko too!)

Shinobu:

Shinobu is already in the business of taking in unfortunate orphans, so when you told her about the child, she immediately began planning to adopt them. When she met them, she felt sympathy for them. When you adopted the child, she doted on them, and they became pretty close to their mother. Whenever your friends come to visit, your child usually loves hanging around Nezuko and Mitsuri with the triplets.

Gyomei:

Gyomei immediately felt for the child, and when he met them, they took his heart. When you adopted them, they became very close to their father. Everywhere he went (unless on a mission), they went with him. Their relationship is very cute.

Sanemi:

Sanemi was a little hesitant about meeting the orphan, but when he met them, his tough-guy act melted a little. When you adopted them, he was at first a little standoffish, but when you confronted him, he admitted that he was scared to get close. Eventually, they became very close to one another. Sanemi sometimes tells them stories about their uncle Genya, and when Genya comes to visit, they usually hang around him like a little puppy. It's very cute.

Akaza:

Are you a human?

If so:

Akaza was a little nervous about taking in a child (and a human at that). But you were so smitten with them that he went to meet them. They were afraid of him at first, but you reassured them that he was good. When you adopted them, Akaza was a little standoffish at first, but after a while, he warmed up to the child. They were mostly close to you (considering that you saw them most), but they hold a soft spot for their father.

If not:

Akaza thought it was a bad idea taking in a human child, but when you begged him to meet them, he capitulated. He felt for the child, and when you adopted them, he tried his best to be a good dad. You trusted the child to take care of themselves when you couldn't be there, and in return you spent as much of your time with them as you could. They were closer to you than Akaza (considering his spot as Kizuki 3), but they still really cared for him.

Douma:

Are you a human?

If so:

When you brought the child to Douma, he was intrigued. Already, your little family had accepted the child into it, and your other orphans loved them dearly. He was pretty okay with adopting the child; usually they spend most of their time at the compound, but you try to keep them away from the cult's services.

If not:

When you brought the child to Douma, he was immediately intrigued. Since they were just like him, he sympathized with their plight and offered to make them his successor. You'd already sort of adopted them into your family, but now you had Douma helping you. They spend their time at the compound with Douma, although you did try to make sure they wouldn't become too desensitized to the violence against the cult members.

Kokushibo:

Are you a human?

If so:

Once Kokushibo met the child, he became a little skeptical. True, you were his wife, and true, he didn't care about having children or not, but he also didn't expect to adopt a random orphan. But you seemed so happy to take them in that he decided not to comment on it, simply voicing his concern about raising them to be a slayer. You both agreed to send the child to your aunt for training when they turned thirteen, but other than that, you cared for them. They became very close to you, as they didn't see their father often. When they did, however, he left them little presents every so often to show his favor.

If not:

Kokushibo was confused as to why you'd take in a human orphan, but he let it go after you insisted that they needed a home. While you lamented your inability to do much outside of the home during the day with them, you spent your nights doing everything you couldn't during the day, including shopping for food for them. You both decided that you would send them to your aunt once they turned thirteen, both for slayer training, and for them to cultivate a human familial relationship. Your parents sometimes help out too, but you're kind of on unstable terms right now because of your decision to be turned.

Muzan:

Are you a human?

If so:

Muzan was a little disappointed to be taking in a human, but he respected your wishes. He was insistent that your child not be brought up a slayer, which you didn't really care for anyway. As the child didn't see Muzan as often as you'd both like (besides being their demon parent), they were closer to you. Muzan still cared for them, but not as much as he cared for you. (The child was a bit freaked out about Muzan's female form at first, but now it doesn't even phase them, and they refer to him as 'Father' or 'Mother' accordingly.)

If not:

Muzan was delighted to take in the demon orphan you found. He was determined to bring them up to be strong (with some concerning mumbling about being his 'new source of strength' at first). Soon, he came to care for them deeply, leading to him hesitantly discarding his original plans. The child was pretty close to both of you, but was a little closer to you, being their primary caretaker for much of the early months. (The child didn't care about Muzan's two forms, happily referring to him as 'Father' or 'Mother' accordingly.)

Yoriichi:

Yoriichi was content to adopt a child with you. Once he saw them, he was immediately reminded of some of his own childhood, and they grew on him. It was a slow process, but sure enough, your little family of three grew quite close -- the child, especially, got on well with their father. They always followed him around like a puppy, idolizing him and loving him dearly.
